It's pretty obvious how much faster the SS could be with soft resets (Bombchus? Hover Boots?! Meeting Zelda?!?!), and that's just counting the one.  What kind of a route do you think any% SS with resets could have?  Is it the same as any% seg?  What tricks aren't really worth it in SS?  Which forest escape should be used?  Where should savewarping be used aside from the obvious ToT?

Seems like a fast way to start would be Sword/Shield, pokey escape, Peahat SS to LH, Scarecrow, Gold Scale, Ruto's Bottle (show to KZ), then Owl to Castle (or maybe savewarp after KZ?).  Any other ideas for changes from SS?

Yeah, looks like you did.  I was thinking this as an actual category, though, rather than just a casual run.

I'll check out your thread for route ideas.

For reference

The two are actually different as Maxx is using as many resets as necessary where Lex planned to use just the one (I think).

I'm game for attempting an SS run for SDA, I have a TV capture device now. I'm not smart with routes so I would need help with the SS route...

SDA won't accept hard or soft resets in a Single Segment, meaning you need Hover Boots before becoming an adult, so you can reverse DoT skip.  It ends up being quite a bit different than the segmented any%.

Pokey has been working on this category for a while, and the most current discussion and route are in this thread:

Reset times do count towards the run.

I'm thinking no fairy might be better, since that saves a fair ammount of time. It is just a matter of confidence in the fighting ability of the runner. I'll look at the rest of the route in detail later...

In that case I'll definitely do it on N64.... And yeah I agree, I can do without the fairy.

EDIT: I've officially started practicing for this soft reset run, expect it see it within the month of January. Hoping for a sub 1h25m

Just to show I'm serious about the run and am working on it, here's a short work-in-progress video. It goes from the start to the ToT in 13m23s. This is the one and only WIP I'll be releasing. Feel free to comment or give suggestions on it. After finishing a few practice runs, I think sub-1:20 is no problem whatsoever.

I compressed it to a very small size(49mb) so it will download fast:

I just finished a recorded any% SS Soft Reset Run(or Real Time Attack run) in 1:13:28. It's quite flawed but still a decent run. I will be submitting the run here, on the main ZSR site. I'll work on beating it in the future, but I'll submit this for now until someone beats it or if I beat it by a decent margin. The mistakes are pretty funny. The most important thing was it was a blast to play, and the final blow against Ganon was one of the most satisfying feelings ever.

Thanks to all that helped.

EDIT: I've decided to not submit the run and will continue to attempt to improve it. I know I can get a ~1:10 easily. I Just have to be patient. When I re-watched the run I realized how bad it was and how much more I could improve it. It's getting easier every time I attempt it, so I expect a great run within a month or so.
