Author Topic: Music is too slow on VC  (Read 8764 times)

Good evening,
today I modded my wii to let me play the Japanese OoT on the VC and after a few hours I seemed to manage it.

The only problem is that the music (game and sound effects work fine) is way too slow.

I'm playing on a PAL wii and tv (?) and I remember that there is a similar problem on the NES. (NTSC Cartridges will have 20% slower music on a pal console)

Does anyone know a way around it or should I ask at some wii-hacking forum.

Use AnyRegionChanger to change the video mode of your Wii to NTSC (don't change anything else)

Why are you guys so certain it's possible?
Because its OoT.

I tried to do that, but the picture lost "color" and just went to different shades of grey.
The music was okay though.

Sounds to me you are using a very old TV that can't handle 60Hz.

Another possibility is that you're using an RGB cable, but I believe that would give you a red image (that's what it did for me iirc).

Edit: is there a way to get OoT NTSC to run normally on a PAL Wii without region changing? I believe injecting it into Sin and Punishment works, because that game is 60Hz even on PAL.

I play Smash Bros Melee on 60hz no problem.

"You see a nice stable picture but only in black and white

This happens because your TV is able to lock onto a 60Hz NTSC signal but your  TV cannot compensate for the difference in colour frequency. The solution is to use an analogue NTSC to Pal signal convertor which changes the colour frequency back to where the PAL TV expects it to be. (Quasi PAL) There are many on the market, Keene Electronics can supply one "

Apparently I would simply need to buy a converter. Does anyone have experience with that?

That's expensive as hell. I'd just look for a different CRT. You should be able to find those for free.

It's 30 Euros and you pay 15-20 for an used CTR over here (that not necessarily supports NTSC).

I guess I will get the converted and report back with results.

No. I remember having like an hour-long conversation with Goodybag about why that doesn't work, and we couldn't explain it lol.

I see, it's really weird.

I strongly disadvice this. It could add lag and it may not even work. If you get a not too old CRT it will definitely work.

The device arrived today and seems to be working.
No lag as far as I can tell AND IT'S EVEN IN COLOR Kappa

Only problem is the pictures "position". It is cut off at the bottom, so I only see half of the ruby counter. Any way to fix this?

Does the screen problem also happen without the converter? Because in that case I think your TV can't handle 60Hz at all.
