Game time has transformed a lot since its creation as an SDA-acceptable speedrun category. Modern day runs will use a lot of timestops. Does this completely break the divison? No, since what you can do during a timestop is limited. Does this make it so the game is completable in a fraction of the time it once was? Yes.

Here is the route so far, note that it is not complete yet:

Note that there are a lot of hard tricks, and some of them can be skipped if deemed too difficult by the runner.

Cycle 1:
~ Get 200 Rupees + Adult’s Wallet (store in bank)
~ Get Magic
~ Get Bomb Bag (costs 50 rupees)
~ Watch WCT/Southern Swamp cutscenes (doesn’t save time, but makes run look better)
~ Buy one set of Bombchus, a Deku Stick, and 10 Deku Nuts (see above) (combined cost 80 rupees)
~ Can get four Heart Pieces if you want, can save a bit of frustration in swamp
~ Get OoT and SoT

Segment 1:

RBA stands for Rare Bird Adventure. We call it that because we need to get the blue cucco in order to use it.

My route:

-Cycle 1: Get everything I'll need.

-Segment 1: SoiT asap, get out of clock-town west, gossip time stop then go get kotake's bottle as fast as possible.

-Other segments: always bottle time stop in each zone I'll visit.  Tongue

Good luck when you go to climb that ladder, only to find that your ability to cancel timestop is negated and you can't enter the door. The routing is a lot more complex than simply timestopping everywhere. Any time you climb a ladder or interact with A (open, grab, etc), you cannot cancel timestop. In timestop, you cannot open doors, use your sword, be deku or goron, slash with Zora fins, or use C items. People overestimate the power of timestop.

I say ban timestops in game time, its like using an in game timer, but the runner can stop the timer whenever. In game timers are useful only if the timer is not breakable. Pausing in brawl to let enemies load is one thing, timestops in MM are a bit more extreme.

Also let it be known, for the no irc people, that i live MM game time. Especially as an SS. A shame how similar it is to any% now, but thats what happends when you find breaks...

Why though? The purpose of game time is to beat the game in the lowest ammount of, well, game time. The goal is not to emulate real time: that is what the, well, real time division is for. Adding timestops makes game time a lot more unique, a lot more challenging, and truer to its goal. I repeat again - timestops are not over powered as so many think they are. Besides, pausing and catching things in bottles stops time too, does it not. and you can be pushed by a bomb just before catching something in a bottle, so that you move a tad during the catching cutscene where time doesn't run. This isn't banned. Other timestops are just this to a greater degree.

Of course game time is not to emulate real time. But if the game timer is no longer an accurate means of time keeping, whats the point of it at all? Yes time stops when yuo talk to people and equip stuff, but no 'actual gameplay' takes place with the timer stopped.

Not that matters to the logic, but how much time do you think these timestops save altogether (aka for how many game hours would the timer be stopped)?
