Title: Low% Segmented Post by: RingRush on October 21, 2009, 03:08:19 AM Why hasn't this topic been created yet...
Anyways, with the new Silver Block Skip, I drafted a new route: Segment 1: -Intro -Save Segment 2: -21R -Kokiri Sword -Save Segment 3: -29R -Deku Shield + Stick -Equip Sword, Shield, Stick -Save Segment 4: -Old School Forest Escape -Peahat Superslide to GV -Cucco Jump -Save in Fortress Segment 5: -Gate Skip -Cross Wasteland -Enter Spirit Temple -Save Segment 6: -Nabooru -Kill Armos and Keese -Light torches in next room -Stalfos megaflip or green bubble boost -Get key -Save Segment 7: -Back to Armos room -Use key -Work up to room with Bombchus -Hover off Lizalfos to hit the crystal switch to drop Bombchus -Get Bombchus -Shine light (9 chus) -Go up to torch room and do puzzles for key (8 chus) -Back to main room -Get on statues shoulder and jump on the neck to get to the adult side -Make way all the way up to the top on adult side (7 chus) -Iron Knuckle (break stick while fighting) -Mirror Shield and Save Segment 8: -Forest Escape w/ Bombchu Megaflip (6 chus) -Chu SS from grass (5 chus) -To Kakriko -Cucco Collecting for Bottle -To Graveyard -Reveal Bugs -Dupe Bottle over Deku Sticks w/ Bugs -Catch Poe in Cucco Bottle -Save Segment 9: (possible to split this segment up after RBA) -Forest Escape w/ Bombchu Megaflip (4 chus) -To Lake Hylia -To Fishing Pond -Gold Scale -Steal Rod while leaving -Sticks on B -Grab Ruto's Bottle (depending on time of day, may want to leave RBA steps till after entering market) -Drop bugs from duped bottle -Bottle on B w/ duped bottle -RBA Chus w/ Poe (29 chus) -RBA Ruto's Letter for one arrow -Bottle Switch trick, catching bugs in Ruto's Bottle for later OI -Reequip Sword, Duped Bottle -Owl back to market -To castle -Bombchu boost for moat skip (28 chus) -Cutscene skip with Bombchu (27 chus) -To ToT -DoT Skip -Master Sword and Light Medallion -Equip Mirror Shield and save Segment 11: -To kakariko -To graveyard -Shadow early with chu SS warp (26 chus) -Save in shadow Segment 12: -Megaflip first gap (25 chus) -Bird statue -Another megaflip (24 chus) -To the spinning scythe room -Jumpslash SB and jump to boat wheel -Ocarina Items to ride the boat -Bombchu the pillar (23 chus) -Get the Boss Key from the spikewall room in the maze -Go to Bongo Bongo (will need a bombchu megaflip in the last room) (22 chus) -Shadow Medallion -Go up death mountain and get magic (20 chus) -Save Segment 13: -To Gerudo Valley -Chu Megaflip with ISG over gap (19 chus) -Save in fortress Segment 14: -To the top of the fortress (over small wall) (17 chus) -Megaflip gate skip (16 chus) -Cross the wasteland -Save in Spirit Temple Segment 15: -Jiano’s Silver Block Skip (14 chus) -Key from silver rupee room (13 chus) -To main room -To the upper door -Get to the Anubis and Beamos room and kill all enemies -Get key in room accessed from shining light on sun -Get to the big moving wall and carefully climb up [use chus to clear out enemies] (11 chus) -Get Boss Key -To the mirror room -Blow up the rock wall in the maze and shine light on the big mirror (10 chus) -Get on the platform that will lower, lure a flying pot with magic at you, shield it and shine light at the sun while the magic is falling -Destroy the face -Make sure the magic landed on the platform and activate ISG from it -Hover to boss door (3-5 chus) -Iron Knuckle and Twinrova -Spirit Medallion -Save Segment 16: -Light Arrow -Ganon’s Castle -Save Segment 17: -Spirit Trial chus (23-27 chus) -Spirit Armos Trial Skip -Save Segment 18: -Up the tower -Ganondorf -Escape -Ganon (use mid-air shield dropped chus to hit his tail on phase one) -Look at your calendar, realize you’ve been attempting for three years Thoughts about the extra chus? Spirit trial chus would be skippable, but it would require harder tricks that ZFG said he wasn't is going to do (wall climb w/o killing enemies, etc) Anyways, the current 16 items: Kokiri Sword - Needed for Cucco Jump, Stealing the Rod as a Kid, and DoT Skip Deku Shield - Needed for Forest Escape w/o Fairy Ocarina and Child Spirit Bombchus Deku Stick - Needed for Child Spirit Chus, the most likely item to be skipped if we find another bombchu source Bombchus - Needed for various tricks, including Silver Block skip without hover boots, Egg and Chicken skip, Hover to Spirit Temple boss door, Shadow Temple megaflips, and for blowing up various walls on Death Mountain and in the Spirit Temple Ruto's Bottle - Needed to RBA an arrow and thus skip Bow and Quiver Golden Scale - Needed for Ruto's Bottle Cucco Bottle - Needed to RBA Ruto's Bottle, Dupe bottle for RBA Bombchus and for OI Mirror Shield - Needed for Shadow without Nocturne and Silver Block skip, absolutely necesary for Twinrova Zelda's Lullaby - Needed to get Magic Zelda's Letter - Needed to get Zelda's Lullaby (well, more like obtained automatically when you get the Lullaby) Master Sword - Needed to become adult, needed for Hover to Spirit Temple boss door Light Medallion - Needed to become adult (well, more like obtained automatically when you become adult) Shadow Medallion - Needed to get Light Arrows, needed to create the rainbow bridge Spirit Medallion - Needed to get Light Arrows, needed to create the rainbow bridge Magic - Needed to use Light Arrows Light Arrows - Needed to kill Ganondorf Title: Re: Low% Segmented Post by: LTTP on October 21, 2009, 03:12:28 AM Nice, looks great :P
can't wait to see it in use :) Title: Re: Low% Segmented Post by: ZFG on October 21, 2009, 08:36:28 PM RingRush, I am disappoint. Poe can't go in a duped bottle >_>. How am I gonna ISG megaflip gerudo bridge with chus? I'm editing the route now.
Edit: done Title: Re: Low% Segmented Post by: RingRush on October 22, 2009, 01:43:39 AM I highly disapprove of your route, and think it is much slower.
1. Why make an extra fishing trip as adult (and force yourself to get well chus while you are at it)? Just RBA as a child...if you can't catch poe in a duped bottle, just catch it in the cucco bottle, and use duped bottle for bottle B. 2. Surely with proper timing you can megaflip bridge with a chu. Even if you can't, just get the spirit chu chest in addition to my previous route. Title: Re: Low% Segmented Post by: Blizzerk on October 22, 2009, 01:49:45 AM This is relevant to my interests.
Title: Re: Low% Segmented Post by: icebreaker007 on October 22, 2009, 03:20:19 AM Bombchu megaflip is possible. Took a few minutes of trying
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bB9Fvg_gKlk (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bB9Fvg_gKlk) Title: Re: Low% Segmented Post by: Pokey on October 22, 2009, 11:12:14 AM Who is attempting this? I might try to attempt it if I feel like it.
Title: Re: Low% Segmented Post by: Blizzerk on October 22, 2009, 05:46:02 PM I will attempt (maybe record, but probably not because i suck...)
I cant do the old school forest escape to save my life (unless its on an emulator D:<) the rest of the route save a few places is not that tricky. low% spirit is easier than you'd think I got the bubble boost 1st try, and lizaflos hover on my 2nd attempt. Title: Re: Low% Segmented Post by: Pokey on October 22, 2009, 09:35:01 PM Is this route good for all versions?
Title: Re: Low% Segmented Post by: ZFG on October 24, 2009, 02:14:15 AM I beat this shit. I want my medal now.
And yes pokey, thanks to chu megaflip over gerudo valley gap and 2 chu block skip. Title: Re: Low% Segmented Post by: Blizzerk on October 24, 2009, 04:37:13 PM Isn't there a 15 item run, ZFG?
Title: Re: Low% Segmented Post by: ZFG on October 24, 2009, 07:29:34 PM No, you're a nub for thinking you can skip sticks >_>.
Title: Re: Low% Segmented Post by: RingRush on November 15, 2009, 05:42:30 AM Low% SS route v1.0
-Intro -Kokiri Sword -Deku Shield -Equip, then old school escape -To castle (get 20 rupees from chains) -Get Chicken and Egg -Up to Talon, move boxes while waiting for day -Wake Talon up, cross moat -Lullaby and Letter -To Kakriko -Cucco collect for bottle -Dive down well -Skulltula clip for chus (10 chus) -Back to Kakriko -To Graveyard -Hylian Shield from grave -Hover to seam (7 chus) -Shadow Early -Megaflip gap (6 chus) -Hover Boots -Deathwarp to start -Back to Graveyard -Reveal bugs -Dupe bottle over Zelda’s Letter -Catch Poe in Cucco Bottle -To Lake Hylia -To Fishing Pond -Gold Scale -Steal Rod -Enter water, Deku Sticks on B -Ruto’s Bottle -Drop bugs in ZL bottle, Bottle on B, RBA one arrow -RBA Poe for 29 chus -Try to catch bugs in ZL bottle, use bottle switch trick to put them in Ruto’s Bottle -To Temple of Time -Re-equip Kokiri Sword and DoT Skip -To Kakriko -To graveyard -Shadow early again (26 chus) -Backwalk hover first gap -Bird statue -To the spinning scythe room -Jumpslash SB and jump to boat wheel -Ocarina Items to ride the boat -Bombchu the pillar (25 chus) -Get the Boss Key from the spikewall room in the maze -Go to Bongo Bongo -Shadow Medallion -Go up death mountain and get magic (23 chus) -To Gerudo Valley -Crouch stab hover boost across gap -To the top of the fortress (over small wall) (21 chus) -Old school gate skip -Cross the wasteland -Hover Boot Silver Block skip -Key from silver rupee room -To main room -To the upper door -Get to the Anubis and Beamos room and kill all enemies (20 chus) -Up to Mirror Shield -Get key in room accessed from shining light on sun -Get to the big moving wall and carefully climb up [use chus to clear out enemies] (18 chus) -Get Boss Key -To the mirror room -Blow up the rock wall in the maze and shine light on the big mirror (17 chus) -Get on the platform that will lower, lure a flying pot with magic at you, shield it and shine light at the sun while the magic is falling [R-R-RUN BREAKER] -Destroy the face -Make sure the magic landed on the platform and activate ISG from it -Hover to boss door (11 chus) -Iron Knuckle and Twinrova -Spirit Medallion -Back across desert -Thrown out by guards -Jump in the river -To Temple of Time -Light Arrow -Ganon’s Castle -Spirit Trial chus if needed -Spirit Armos Trial Skip -Up the tower -Ganondorf -Escape -Ganon (use mid-air shield dropped chus to hit his tail on phase one) -Attempt low% mst 19 items: +Hover Boots for DoT Skip and for feasible adult +Hylian Shield for DoT Skip +Egg & Cucco because Child Spirit Chus would leave you stuck in the wasteland without savewarp, and would be extremely difficult -Deku Stick because of Well Chus w/ Egg and Cucco Other 15 items are the same Title: Re: Low% Segmented Post by: Pokey on November 15, 2009, 01:49:12 PM Low% SS route v1.0 -Hylian Shield from grave -Hover to seam (7 chus) It would be day so you couldn't get Hylian Shield. And why hover to seam when you can chu teleport? Title: Re: Low% Segmented Post by: AniMeowzerz on November 15, 2009, 05:19:46 PM Well in that sense, wouldn't it be better to grab the 40 rupees from the chains both times you go to town market, then grab the shield from the shop?
also, Quote -Get on the platform that will lower, lure a flying pot with magic at you, shield it and shine light at the sun while the magic is falling [R-R-RUN BREAKER] >_____________________________________________________> This would suck to pull off SS.-Destroy the face -Make sure the magic landed on the platform and activate ISG from it Title: Re: Low% Segmented Post by: RingRush on November 15, 2009, 05:28:11 PM Yeah, as Ani noted you can always get the shield from the shop. Also, ZFG found a trick to make the magic ISG possible to attempt multiple times, as long as you don't get the jar itself. But yeah, it still sucks.
Title: Re: Low% Segmented Post by: RingRush on December 06, 2009, 04:44:39 AM The Official Low% Item Ruling Guide v2:
1. Any item that appears in your Item Subscreen counts. (e.g. bottle, megaton hammer, light arrows) 1a. All items in the same slot (even if they are at different times) in your item subscreen count. (e.g. if you get Egg, then Cucco, it counts as two items; the same is true of hookshot and longshot, etc) 1b. Previous items are not assumed in any item. (e.g. if you get Zelda's Letter, you do not automatically get Egg and Cucco) 1c. Transforming an item into a bottle does NOT count as an additional item (e.g. turning Deku Sticks into a bottle with bottle duplication) 1d. Using bottle duplication to get a bottle on an empty slot does NOT count as an additional item 2. An item that appear on your Equipment Subscreen counts. (e.g. quiver, master sword, iron boots) 2a. Kokiri Boots and Tunic do not count, since they are obtained at the start and are never "collected". 2b. All items in the same slot (even if they are at different times) in your item subscreen count. (e.g. if you get Bomb Bag, then Big Bomb Bag, it counts as two items) 2c. As a clarification for 2b, Giant's Knife and Broken's Giant Knife are two different items. 2d. Previous items are not assumed in any item. (e.g. if you get Golden Scale, you do not automatically get Silver Scale) 3. Every Heart Container or Heart Piece counts as one item. 3a. The first three hearts you get do not count, since they are obtained at the start and are never "collected". 4. Any Great Fairy Gift counts as one item. (e.g. Magic, Double Magic, Double Defense) 5. Any wallet upgrade counts as one item. (e.g. Giant's Wallet) 5a. The starting wallet does not count, since it is obtained at the start and is never "collected". 6. Any song learned counts as one item. (e.g. Song of Time, Zelda's Lullaby) 6a. Scarecrow's Song counts as one item. 7. Any Medallion or Spiritual Stone counts as one item. (e.g. Light Medallion, Kokiri Emerald) 8. Gerudo License and Stone of Agony count as one item each. 9. Epona and the cow in Link's house count as one item each. 10. Each Golden Skulltula token collected counts as one item. Any reward from the Gold Skulltula House counts based on the other rules. (e.g. Adult's Wallet counts, silver rupee does not) 11. Ammunition does not count as an item. (e.g. arrows, nuts) 11a. To clarify, ammunition-in-themsleves items, such as Deku Nuts and Deku Sticks, do count as one item when they are first picked up. 11b. Anything caught in a bottle is considered "ammunition" and is not counted as an item. (e.g. bugs, fish, poe) 11c. All types of rupees are classified as ammunition 12. Dungeon items do not count as an item. (e.g. Small Keys, Boss Keys, Dungeon Maps, Compasses) 13. Any item obtained in the fishing pond does not count as an item. (e.g. fishing pole, fisherman's hat, 6 lb fish, sinking lure) 13a. If the item obtained would count under a previous rule, it is still counted. (e.g. Heart Piece, Golden Scale) 14. If an item is lost and then regained, it is not counted again. (e.g. burning a Deku Shield and buying another, getting a hylian shield back from a Like Like) 15. If an item that would count under a previous rule appears on B, it counts as obtaining that item. 16. Deleting an item through RBA or any other means does not remove the item from your count. Title: Re: Low% Segmented Post by: Jiano on December 06, 2009, 04:45:53 AM Sounds good.
Title: Re: Low% Segmented Post by: ING-X on December 06, 2009, 01:20:16 PM 100% agreed. Looks like this will make everyone happy from the looks of it :)
Title: Re: Low% Segmented Post by: RingRush on December 06, 2009, 06:59:53 PM Added a note about bottle duping on an empty slot, and added epona and the cow in Link's house as an item.
Title: Re: Low% Segmented Post by: Jiano on December 06, 2009, 10:30:52 PM -Get to the Anubis and Beamos room and kill all enemies (11 chus)
You don't need to do this since you do it as a kid. Title: Re: Low% Segmented Post by: RingRush on December 06, 2009, 10:52:57 PM Route deleted since it probably doesn't save time (though if we can save one more chu it will)
Title: Re: Low% Segmented Post by: ING-X on December 07, 2009, 12:24:03 AM wait, how is this any different from the other route?
I guess i could find out by checking, but I'm way too lazy atm :P Title: Re: Low% Segmented Post by: RingRush on December 07, 2009, 12:40:26 AM It half milk RBAs, climbs moving wall in spirit without chus, and does a poe superslide warp instead of house hover to get on shadow seam. In turn, it can skip the spirit trial chu chest. Further analysis makes me think this route isn't much faster, and definietly harder.
Edit: I just made some changes to the original route, using some of the extra chus for ESSes (and made it a chu ss warp for shadow early instead of house hover), and I think the first route would now be faster. Title: Re: Low% Segmented Post by: MrGrunz on December 07, 2009, 02:53:35 PM about the first route
mega flip ESSes save no time and are just damn hard to do. you know, you have to do a mega flip without Z targetting. it has a 3 frame timing ;) just for speed comparison: backwalking is 13.5 (as adult) and mega flip ESS is 14 so let's say it takes 15 seconds from market to kakariko, a ESS would save 15/27 seconds, so like 0,6 seconds. rolling alone takes 40 frames, which is 0,6 seconds, so the saved time is 0 ;) you also wrote "mega flip ESS in hyrule field on the way to kakariko after escaping the forest". just do a bombchu SS with the bushes to kakariko. saves way more time Title: Re: Low% Segmented Post by: Jiano on December 08, 2009, 12:13:58 AM I finally beat Low%. Pause buffering made it quite a bit easier but it was still a bitch.
Title: Re: Low% Segmented Post by: RingRush on December 08, 2009, 12:41:56 AM Grunz, any ideas for the leftover chus?
Title: Re: Low% Segmented Post by: ING-X on December 19, 2009, 04:22:11 PM Hey i just thought of something - if having deku sticks on b (but not having them in your inventory) counts as obtaining sticks, then why doesn't the same apply to bombs on c-down when you become adult?
is it because the bombs on c-down are unusable unless you rba an amount of them? Title: Re: Low% Segmented Post by: AniMeowzerz on December 19, 2009, 04:40:07 PM Goddamnit Ing, you know this is just gonna end up with you typing in all caps and saying fuck in the irc
Leave it alone :V Title: Re: Low% Segmented Post by: ING-X on December 19, 2009, 04:47:48 PM Goddamnit Ing, you know this is just gonna end up with you typing in all caps and saying fuck in the irc Leave it alone :V no u Title: Re: Low% Segmented Post by: RingRush on December 19, 2009, 06:58:57 PM You never obtain bombs - you just have a picture of them. They are in no way accesible without further items.
Title: Re: Low% Segmented Post by: ING-X on December 19, 2009, 07:33:49 PM Yeah, that's what I figured it was. ;D
Title: Re: Low% Segmented Post by: Maxx on December 22, 2009, 01:46:29 AM Hey i just thought of something - if having deku sticks on b (but not having them in your inventory) counts as obtaining sticks, then why doesn't the same apply to bombs on c-down when you become adult? is it because the bombs on c-down are unusable unless you rba an amount of them? Because the people that play low% the most make arbitrary decisions and rules for the category based on what they prefer. Title: Re: Low% Segmented Post by: ING-X on December 22, 2009, 03:21:09 AM Because the people that play low% the most make arbitrary decisions and rules for the category based on what they prefer. well, low% is a pretty arbitrary category considering there's no real percent counter for the game. if it was like metroid where it actually tracks your percentage there would be no need for a set of rules for low%. but since there is not a percent counter we have to have a set of rules for low%, and the rules of low% are based on what we as a community prefer. Title: Re: Low% Segmented Post by: ING-X on December 30, 2009, 10:11:35 PM I finally beat low% today ;D I streamed a lot of it and the ganon battle was pro 8)
like jiano said, pause buffering makes low% a bit easier but it's still really damn hard. I highly doubt a low% speedrun will be attempted anytime soon. Title: Re: Low% Segmented Post by: Elminster45 on December 30, 2009, 11:27:54 PM Dayum. That makes 3 people now, doesn't it?
In my pseudo-low% I'm just gonna fuck the moat skip and get the damn chicken and egg. It won't matter to me anyway since I'm getting Zelda's Letter anyway. (Assuming I ever get the Lizalfos to cooperate.) Blizzerk, how the hell did you get the Liz hover on your 2nd attempt? I call H4X0RZ on that one. Seriously. Kudos, I think. Title: Re: Low% Segmented Post by: ING-X on December 31, 2009, 12:01:10 AM @elminster: why are you not doing the moat skip? it's actually easier than it looks - just take out chu, hold z, jump, then tap r and mash b. i think you have to let go of z after shield dropping the chu but i'm not sure.
Title: Re: Low% Segmented Post by: RingRush on December 31, 2009, 01:34:59 AM Chu megaflip method for moat skip is ez. Also, if you find moat skip hard, you will die as adult.
Title: Re: Low% Segmented Post by: ING-X on December 31, 2009, 01:41:28 AM megaflip wat
i was talking about the damage boosted jumpslash lol Title: Re: Low% Segmented Post by: Elminster45 on December 31, 2009, 02:24:44 AM Oh is that all? I could probably do that then.
Title: Re: Low% Segmented Post by: RingRush on December 31, 2009, 04:30:42 AM I know you were talking damage boost, and I was saying to just megaflip instead.

I know he used NL for the flip, but is there any reason why this wouldn't work with a regular chuflip? I think all who need to know do know. If you are really curious, you could also look at context...like where I would be trying to go and where I say I am next. Title: Re: Low% Segmented Post by: ING-X on March 24, 2010, 10:08:55 PM I typed up a new low% ss route, tell me if this looks good:

I fixed the route so that it used a water ESS to Kakariko from the forest, which should remove any problems with making it to the Market before night. I also put the 200 rupee chest from Dead Hand in the route to solve any possible rupee shortages for fishing in segment 6. Not sure if there should be a segmentation right after ZL. It splits up a long segment, and uses a chu for forest escape that won't matter because we RBA chus in that segment. Title: Re: Low% Segmented Post by: ING-X on April 04, 2010, 04:24:46 PM imo, if the sticks on b are not even usable, they shouldn't count as an item. i mean, we have bombs on c-down that aren't usable; i don't see them counting as an item even though we have them on c-down.
Title: Re: Low% Segmented Post by: RingRush on April 04, 2010, 05:44:05 PM The 29-chu silver block skip I was talking about has not been done on child, but since it is just hovering, it should be possible with both Links. TAS got it down to 15, so I'm sure it could be dropped a bit, especially with void hovers.
I'm not sure how this works with day/night cycles, but could you do you second Kakriko visit after lullaby instead of after pond? It would mean less backtracking...unless cutscene skip for lullaby auto-forces daytime. I haven't looked at the route in detail, but... 1) 4 extra chus after Spirit Temple (4 chus) 2) Use Chu SS Warp for Shadow early (6 chus) 3) Half milk RBA before becoming adult (8 chus) 4) Don't kill skulltulas in moving wall room (10 chus) This gives us 10 chus left over after Spirit Temple, meaning we can skip the Spirit Trial rupees entirely. Title: Re: Low% Segmented Post by: Elminster on April 19, 2010, 09:39:31 PM Updated the route with the new chu counts. We use every last chu. Good shit.
Title: Re: Low% Segmented Post by: Blizzerk on May 02, 2010, 10:10:33 PM Segment 7 - Either change it or use chu's to kill the poe. I'm almost there, so I'll test if you can even do that >_>
Edit: Yeah, it was akward, but I did it. 2 Chu's for anyone that cares. I failed the moat boost like 4 times though lmao Edit Edit: Aw fuck, I rba'd poe but I only have 29 chu's... wtf? :< EDIT EDIT EDIT EDIT FUCKBALLS K so vineclip ~ Needs a groundjump, no? anyways you can still get to it, and it will still cost you 1 chu regardless (to kill the beamos) EDIT EDDDDDIT EDIT How do you block skip as a kid? >_> I know it's a stupid question, but I'm dead tired and can't figure it out Title: Re: Low% Segmented Post by: Cosmo on August 03, 2010, 08:38:36 AM ringrush posted this on TASVideos and I thought it was worth archiving:
Quote from: ringrush Synx: First of all, you have to press the stick on B button in order to get the bottle on B. Thus, although you are not using sticks for their "normal use", you are still using them as a means to an end. Secondly, you CAN use the sticks on B without getting normal sticks by RBAing "stick ammo". These do not appear as normal sticks in your inventory, but do allow you to use sticks on B. And if you say "well until you RBA them, it is unusable", I will just say "well until you are in front of the Kakriko guard, Zelda's Letter is unusable" and claim it doesn't count. Third, what about the bomb icon on C down? It is in a very similar situation to the stick on B. If we say the stick on B counts no matter what, then that also mean the bomb counts no matter what, and the low% will be free to RBA and use bombs. Perhaps this is the best ruling, but a lot of people think the three coolest things about low% are bomb skip, hover boots skip, and hookshot skip. Fourth, if we say the stick on B doesn't count, then the fastest route would involve getting a stick on B, RBAing stick ammo, and using that ammo to light torchs in the Spirit Temple, thus skipping a long and chu-consuming hover to get past the silver block as child (I'm not 100% sure this is still true for TAS, but I know it is true for real time). How would viewers feel if you are using sticks, but say "they don't count"? There is a strong case that you never actually obtained the item "deku stick", just used them through manipulation of your B button, but how many random viewers are going to understand that? Fifth, let us say we rule deku sticks ammo counts as an item when paired with deku stick on B. Using the same logic, arrows count as an item when paired with Light Arrows. Therefore, getting the Bow and Quiver is less items than the Gold Scale + Ruto's Bottle + Arrows, completely changing the current idea of low%. This also involves a very boring hover in the Forest Temple off of a green bubble. Sixth, if we say items on B count no matter what, then it only makes sense that the fishing rod counts as an item. Getting the fishing rod on B is a necesary step in RBA, so this means RBA would have to be avoided. Once again, this would lead to a very boring hover in the Forest Temple to get to the bow. Basically, the stick situation is a mess. Regardless of what we rule, there will be some ugly consequences. The easiest way to get out of it would be to ban RBA altogether, but even then stick on B would still be useful to skip hovering in the Spirit Temple. Plus, without RBA, low% suffers as I said before from the bubble hover. Really, in my opinion, the ability to get bombchus without deku sticks ruined low%. Low% all temples however, does not need RBA to get the minimum 27 items (25 items if we don't count ganon's trials, although I think bloob did them in his TAS and SDA ruled them necesary). It has also a far more interesting route and more interesting tricks. If we were going to see a low% run, I think a low% all temples is a much better option. Title: Re: Low% Segmented Post by: JRD05 on November 03, 2010, 02:39:45 AM Hey guys, sorry for reviving a somewhat dead thread, but I am playing through this route and I am utterly lost. I got the bridge clip in the lost woods as well as well chus. I'm not really sure where to go next since it seems like Zelda's lullaby is out of the way and I don't know where is the best place to get half milk for rba. Also, if indeed Zelda's lullaby is the fastest way to go at this point, it is going to take more than one chu to kill link and do the cut scene skip.
Title: Re: Low% Segmented Post by: ZFG on November 03, 2010, 03:58:12 AM Lullaby would be the best way to go from there. For the damage, take 2 hearts from the gold skulltula in the tree (remember not to kill/get token), 1/2 heart from the damage boost to skip talon (9 chus), then the chu death cutscene skip (8 chus).
Also, when it says halfmilk RBA, that's not refering to halfmilk in a bottle, when you update the item pointed to on C right when it has a value of 26 (for example, poe on C right with 26 chus), the B bottle will become halfmilk no matter what, giving you a value of 31 (and so you would get 31 chus). Title: Re: Low% Segmented Post by: JRD05 on November 04, 2010, 02:38:39 AM Thanks ZFG, I think I understand now. To get half milk on B, you just need the item quantity that is affected by the contents of your right c from rba to be 26, which is the decimal value for full milk. Then when you update your B bottle, you should have half milk. I'm guessing that Zelda's lullaby and the dot skip are done in separate segments to conserve chus for the adult portion of the run. Overall, this route looks pretty fun. I will try to finish it and upload the rest of the segments. When I get my dvd recorder, maybe I will get more serious about this category.
