Hi speedrunners!

I think someone doesn't have enought time/money ( Cry) to do Greenalink method!
If you just have a cam, don't be sad, i'm here! (There is a link of the video i've do)

All you need is:

-A box
-A cam
-And a 3DS it's logical!

Cut on the top of the box a hole, as big as your cam, and one of the side...
Make the side you've cut toward you, put your cam on the hole of the top and put your 3DS under the cam (in the box) as you can record!

Hope you use it!

If you have trouble with my bad english PM me!

So... This is common sense, isn't it? Tongue
And it is indirect, not direct.

Direct would be some kind of recording device that captures the 3DS screens. (just like a dvd recorder for example)

I put a few hours into making my setup.
first I took a normal blue plastic box like this one: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/6440063/OoT/100CDPFP/IMGA0009.JPG
Then I cut out the bottom of it like this: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/6440063/OoT/100CDPFP/IMGA0006.JPG
Then the front (obviously :O): http://dl.dropbox.com/u/6440063/OoT/100CDPFP/IMGA0005.JPG
I took a piece of glass and cut it out so that it is slightly bigger than the hole at the bottom of the box. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/6440063/OoT/100CDPFP/IMGA0008.JPG
After that I did some tests to see the height of the camera, to make sure that both the screens was visible on the camera. It obviously wasn't, so I created a frame with some random stuff I found in our garage. You can see that in the previous picture.
After that I used double-sided tape (not glue!) to attach the glass with the frame I created.
Now just place the glass/frame over the hole you cut out on the bottom to get this result: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/6440063/OoT/100CDPFP/IMGA0004.JPG

Aaaaand you're done.

This is what the end result looked like: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/6440063/OoT/100CDPFP/IMGA0003.JPG

Now just place the recording device on the piece of glass and start recording. If I want to increase the distance of the camera I just put one DVD case on each side underneath the frame until I get the height I want. To decrease I just hold the DS closer to the camera by putting something underneath my hands/3ds.

It is actually really easy to do this, and the result is great, especially since the box cost close to nothing (It was bought at IKEA. It costs about 1,5 to 7 dollars depending on what size you choose), and it should not be to hard to find some material for the frame you need. I do not know about the glass though. It was something I got from my parents (they found my youtube channel and saw how horrible the quality was.. they insisted in helping me with creating a setup), we used to put paint colors on the glass earlier.

So, a great result almost for free, and the setup just wont break.
You can see how it looks while recording on my YT channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/CloudMNintendo
The reason the quality on my videos isn't perfect is because of the camera and not the setup. ^_^

So, yeah, that is my way of doing it D:

O_o You're awesome man!

I did my box in just 2 minutes, it's not perfect Wink, but pretty cool (than before) i think!
I will try your method (IKEA box Cheesy), but mine is better, it cost to me 0$ actually! :p
I will optimise it like you.

My camera have also so bad quality D:!
Just a question, where i can find glasse not to expensive?

I used to have a cardboard box before which was completely free to me, but it started to fall apart after a while, which is why I swapped over to a plastic one.
It is easy to create an usable setup (my cardboard one took a few minutes to put together), but it can take a while if you want to create one that lasts forever :p

Anyway, I am not to sure when you can buy a piece of glass really. I'd just check any stores close by that sells it and see for myself.

Hmh, I should probably make a video myself sometime, showing my setup. And add a description on how it was created and such. (Pretty much the way I explained it in this thread)
It will be my first video in over a month if I get around recording it.
When I think about it, people have actually asked me how I record my videos a lot, but I've always just said that I created my own setup.
