what do i put on II to get the strength reset?

i want the black gauntlets, but i don't want to skip the gorons bracelet

1) I don't think there are Black Gauntlets anymore in the 3ds version, as black has been replaced with purple
2) Skipping/Obtaining strength upgrades is what determines which kind of gauntlet you obtain

Not true. Black Gauntlets can still be obtained, but by using the method used to originally get the bronze/red gauntlets.

No strength upgrade = Purple
Goron Bracelet = Green
Silver Gauntlets = Blue
Gold Gauntlets = Black
