Still no recording device yet but I've been practicing a lot. I'll probably get a good run not long after getting a dvd recorder.

Because the spirit temple BK takes barely any time to get at all and skipping it wouldn't save more than a few seconds, if any.  Not to mention the extra bombs that would be used and my lack of chus by that point.
