I'm going to host an ALttP impromptu some day. How many of you are interested in competing? When do you want it to be? I believe weekends are prefered at least.
What about the first weekend in March?

I'm fine with the first weekend, so long as it isn't the Saturday.

Yes, GBA version is fine. You'll have to watch the intro, but it's easily made up for with MUCH faster text. Though, if the Ice Palace becomes necessary, SNES version will be much faster.

Oh yeah, sorry Remen, I forgot to answer that. But yeah, it sucks that you are forced to watch the intro, it is over two minutes long. And the time saved from faster text won't even it out, quite certain of that. We'll see if I'll have to do some calculations afterwards. If you are using a PAL game, I'll change that into NTSC time once the run is done. You could also run it on an emulator, using a NTSC rom, while recording it all. For the Ice Palace: You could use a bomb to boost you over the holes in the GBA version as well. Skipping everything in the dungeon. can be seen in Wak's any% runs over at SDA. Or THIS emulated movie of it.

It's possible to start a new quest without having to sit through the intro on the GBA version by selecting a file that has a 'Ganon cleared' status and select New Game from the title screen. This is useful as long none of the impromptu ruls say name your character "Z" or something (because that is when you will have to watch the 2 minute intro).

Yeah, I know. But as people could easily cheat that way, by having played on a save file before. And as the text scrolls much faster in the GBA version (The text at the beginning of the game in Link's house is about 720 frames faster in GBA version, 12 seconds) it will be better to keep the intro and I'll try do calculate the time if needed.
Would you like to compete, Greenalink?

I would but I'm lacking a webcam or a capture card. So it would a while before I start trying out inmpromptu runs. Intensity Pro capture cards are apparently pretty good (can record HD consoles in 480p or 720p) and supports 480i (SD TV users) the problem is that... would my PC unit beable to handle it --------------- * NVIDIA GefORCE FX 5900 Ultra with a memory size of 256MB (07/04/2004) My PC unit's has 1 Gig of RAM. (Yeah it's nearly 6 years old). --------------- But as people could easily cheat that way, by having played on a save file before. And as the text scrolls much faster in the GBA version (The text at the beginning of the game in Link's house is about 720 frames faster in GBA version, 12 seconds) it will be better to keep the intro and I'll try do calculate the time if needed . Not to mention all of the other text in the game I can see your point

It isn't a most to stream your run, even though it's a certain plus. Could also stream on the emulator very easily.
I sadly don't know anything about capture cards and computer tech, so I have no idea if your computer is good enough. But others could probably tell.

Est-ce que la version française a le texte plus lent que la version anglaise?
