Stupid sign in WESS

I know that this is an outdated trick but my buddy and I are wanting to do some casual races so we are learning OoT any%. I can hold ESS pretty well but my issue isn't with the actual slide. When I first come into Hyrule Field I jump-slash in to cancel out the need for a roll. I turn around and Z target. Then on the second side-hop I lock onto the sign every single time. Is there a way to prevent this? It's starting to get really irritating.

You are supposed to take a small step back before pressing z to turn the camera around. That will make you far enough from the sign to not read it.

I'll give that a couple more attempts. Thank you very much for the response. I'm really eager to learn this run but this one small thing is really starting to get old lol.
