Blue Tektite Dropping Fairy

I was watching my brother play OoT and inside of the Water Temple, he killed a Blue Tektite, and it dropped a Fairy 0.o

Any research/data/help with this would be helpful.  Thanks!

When you are low on health, enemies will sometimes release a fairy.

A number of drop tables have a special "flex(ible)" drop rather than a specific item, with a 1/16th chance of getting it. When you manage to get the flex drop, the game will perform a series of checks to determine what item you need the most in order to give it to you.
