Your thoughts on 2D Zelda Speedruns

Since a majority of the community revolves around 3D Zelda, I'd like to know your opinion on 2D Zelda speedruns, and why they aren't that popular.
Are they boring to watch?
Just not that exciting?
Not enough glitches/not challenging enough?

And I am not talking about ALTTP here, there are other 2D Zeldas as well.....

It saddens me to see that some games get like no attention at all, and shouldn't it be the job of the Zelda community to help with this problem?

I think most people here grew up with OoT or even newer Zeldas, making the NES and SNES Zeldas less popular. People generally care less about Game Boy games.

Also I think 2D Zelda games are more fast paced (ALTTP at least) and much more about memorization of walking patterns. Other than tha I also think 3D Zeldas are a lot more fun to play.
