Silver Scale + Ruto Bottle + King Zora Scene is faster than bottle in Kakariko + King Zora Skip (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V7vkaL4rgYY#t=0m53s)?

If this route uses RBA then:
Silver Scale + Ruto Bottle + King Zora Scene is required on the 3DS version because, you need the Iron Boots to become swordless and skipping King Zora's scene makes a dead end 7 years later, blocking the entrance to Zora's Fountain, frozen in Red Ice.

Has anyone tried triple slash clip in the acute angle that you usually jumpslash through in the original?

I still say get kakariko bottle.

BTW, people don't seem to realize this route skips iron boots. You should post an adult route so people understand whats going on

Looks like I missed a vital IRC convo.

1. You can triple slash clip KZ. You can also clip him from behind (iirc) w/ a well timed roll while you are melting the red ice as adult. However, this route does not collect the Kokiri Sword, so no triple slashes. We need Ruto's Bottle.

2. This route would use the Lon Lon Ranch RBA method (modified in the 3DS version). This does not need the Iron Boots, but it does require never getting the sword as a child.

3. This route will BA Light Arrows off the Light Arrow cutscene. This allows bow to be skipped (RBA quiver). Using the pedastal of time requires beating Forest Temple, which requires bow to get the boss key.

True, we never get kokiri sword, so triple slash clip is indeed impossible.
And we never get iron boots :D

For the Child route you could get Farore's Wind and 18 deku nuts. After LJJ you catch a fish in bottle. Go adult, hookshot and do the forest temple. Use the fish cutscene interupt and skip the poes. Lon Lon Bottle B, BA Hoverboots and do Ganon's Castle Early, then do trials skip and use Farore's Wind. Exit Castle and BA light Arrows to B
EDIT: Thank you ringrush for poiting out that this idea is flawed.

Title: Re: Lastest Any% Route
Post by: RingRush on June 26, 2011, 06:59:12 AM
We're trying to avoid the Forest Temple completely as getting there, getting the bow (required for BK), and completing it takes forever. Secondly, when you BA any Farore's Wind point previously set is lost. Finally, this route isn't even current since it is for sure going to change with the new start-the-game-with-an-item-on-B trick.

Call it Newgame Plus insted of "start-the-game-with-an-item-on-B" =)
Makes sense, kind off.  And it sounds cool.

But yes, forest temple would completely ruin the route. It takes way to long.
We have built it to avoid as much as possible. And at the moment it seems like we have to one cycle ganondorf, as we do not have quiver RBA?

No quiver but bugs on II are linked to your arrow count

We know that bugs are linked to arrow count. It is just link on n64. We have already tried to BA about 20 different items in total.

But yes, we need to find a new way to rba quiver, or one cycle ganondorf.

I updated the route with detailed information, and small improvements.

Adult Link:
•Lon Lon Stick (How to (http://zeldaspeedruns.com/oot3d/ba/beginning-bottle-adventure#lon-lon-stick))
•Kakariko Village (Egg)
•GY Bugs
•Bottle on B
•RBA Egg (Adult Wallet)
•Wake up Talon
•Trade for Cojiro

Might wanna reorder this. Maybe get egg and bugs, then do LLR stick, then RBA, then head back toward Kakariko. The egg won't hatch until morning, and time doesn't pass in Kakariko.

You also need to RBA arrows at some point (any time is fine) with bugs on II.

Other things I just noticed:

We don't need to go to the graveyard for anything (unless grave shield is faster than farming chains for cash), so GY bugs are slower than bugs next to the skulltula house.

Need a way to kill all the dudes in Ganon's castle. Right now all you have are bombs (and Deku Nuts to help). Getting 20 chus from Spirit Trial is probably worth it.

I fount out that if you save while in the fishing pond or while riding on a horse, you will keep the item you have on B if you save and reset.
This means that if you get bottle on B, you can just save and exit in the fishing pond, or while on a horse, and you will keep the bottle whne you start up the file again! A great way to savewarp with modified B.

I did this by mistake while messing with the Lon Lon Stick glitch, and it works perfectly.

Followed the current route exactly up to adult. Lon Lon B will not work for me. There must be a strange requirement that must be met. I end up with the Master Sword after following the steps.

Either that or this is a PAL only glitch (Cloudmax is PAL, I am NTSC-U).

I'm guessing this means it's also ok to do this with Hammer then as well. At the rate it's going, the NG+ route with Hammer will have very few segments because of the restrictions on where to save and NOT lose the non-sword B item.

I think that's what Grimic was saying in the other topic.

Ohh, well. Props to him for finding it first then I guess.
I did not really understand what he said in the thread (and that is why I asked you guys in the thread if you understood is a several time xD)
However, this was actually logical. I had already done it a several times without even thinking about it.
It is linked to the method of starting with an item on B.
It was just like I said, if you save/exit while riding on epona, it gives the item back to B when you load your new file.

I said it all the time without ever thinking about what I actually was saying, which happened to be a way to save any item on B xD

That was the basic idea. I was doing this for a while without even knowing it too, so it was as easy to conclude as starting with an item on B after lordpsi99 mentioned Epona.

I just made a third edit to my post in the other thread, with some strange findings on how it can revert your item multiple times in a row. I still have little clue what saving really does to make the B button act this way, but I'm sure some theories can be put together at this point.

Incase you didnt know, there is similar glitches in Majoras mask involving epona aswell.
You save while riding on epona, and start up your other file and your other file will be on epona or something...
It is really strange and I do not remember exactly what the glitch did, and how it works, but it all is based on saving while on epona, which was impossible on n64, and that is why these glitches isnt possible on any other n64 game.

However, with the majoras mask glitch and emulators it should be possible to see what actually happens during its saving process, and it probably transfer over to OoT in one way or another as they are based on the same engine.

Here is a video with multiple epona glitches:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZgiCgZPwbOk

All of them is related to saving on epona.
It is pretty sick. The glitch is very, very old and is fun to play around with.

Either I remember incorrectly, or I just cant find a video.
But I think there was a glitch related to using 2 files...
It was about 2 years ago, so I could be wrong.

However, the point is that saving on epona is bugged. It has always been. It is just that nintendo prevented you from saving on epona in oot64

Why do you collect bugs as an adult if you get the bow? Also which method do you use to skip trials?

Edit: Are you using bugs to rba? If so why dupe the fish?

We get bugs as adult to RBA the medallions.
We skip the trials using megaflip (+ damage boost if you want).

1 fish to enter jabu, 1 fish on the switch inside jabu.
Which means that we do not have any fishes left, so we get a bug later on.

I didn't know the fish/switch glitch still worked, so I ended up having a fish for rba as adult. I've been trying to megaflip to skip trials for like a week, but cant seem to get it. I've watched youtube videos, but they don't really help. Have any tips how I can make it more consistent? Also when I rba the medallions I get the forest, shadow and spirit and lose the light medallion. For some reason Shiek still blocks me from going back in time (I know this isn't part of the route, but just wondering if you knew why).

It's probably because walking into the blue portal and starting the forest medallion cs is what triggers sheik to move

If only that wasn't the case then maybe you could skip going to the forest temple. I heard you can kill Gannondorf with 1 arrow.

The only way to skip forest temple would be to get light arrow without getting bow.
And the only way to achieve this is by doing RBA with beans before triggering the light arrow cutscene.

So what we really need is a fast way to get bottle on B as child (not counting NG+)

Title: Re: CloudMax's RTA Any% Route

You could just get deku sticks on "b" at the fishing pond by using the use items anywhere glitch. Then you could get bottle on "b".

Edit: Or does this not work as a child?

Title: Re: CloudMax's RTA Any% Route

Isn't there a sequence of glitches that lets young link use any of the adult items and vice versa (not talking about new game+). Maybe I'm just confused, probably. On a side note we need a new way to skip most of the child dungeons(mainly DC) and/or a DoT skip. I heard someone clipped through one of the walls in the temple of time does anyone know more about that?

Title: Re: CloudMax's RTA Any% Route

Do you mean like.. Inventory overstuffing? In order to RBA beans as adult (or equip iron/hover boots as child)?
Because just setting up a file that can do the overstuffing glitch will take forever.

We need a decent way to RBA as child. and not require you to turn adult first.

In my current playthrough, I did Lon Lon Stick and used RBA with Pocket Egg, Odd Mushroom and Odd Poultice. I'm not sure what exactly I did afterwards, but it was nothing significant other than running around, save & quit, Light Arrow cutscene, trade for Poacher's Saw and travel to the Ice Cavern, but in the first room of Ice Cavern I suddenly noticed I could use the sword again, even though I didn't get Giant's Knife, so I guess there has to be some way to get the sword back without reequipping it? I didn't play any other files during that time, either.

Could be because you did something after the light arrow cutscene had been triggered. On console the cutscene used to trigger BA, but that isn't the case on 3ds.
Maybe you died and/or saved sometime after the light arrow cutscene.
I never really tried to do stuff after the light arrow cutscene to see if I could get the sword back.

Currently we do not know any way to re-equip the sword on a file that you've never equipped a sword on. Like a Lon Lon stick file for example.

Here is an idea I had a long time ago for how the route could be changed:
GET 10 SKULLTULAS AS CHILD

TSC escape
Cucco bottle
KZ skip
Farore's Wind after jabu
odd mushroom after jabu

Wallet
200 Rupee Chest
Giant's Knife
Mushroom
Set Warp point in Meadow (you do this because you have to wait for timer to run out anyway.)
Get Swordless (Archery method)
RBA Odd mushroom
Warp back

Note this was ever timed. It was just speculations. I think it could have some potential. I have no idea if it will be any faster, but even if it isn't, it should be quite similar, and it will remove the stupid Lon Lon Stick glitch. (yay for kokiri sword).
I took some estimate times (not actually timed, just made up in my head), and it feels like it should be faster.

Someone should try it out, or time each differences in the run and see how it ends up. You do not have to wait for egg to crack, no King zora CS, you do not have to buy all the nuts at the start. You get kokiri sword which means that you do not have to run around and collect dekusticks.
On the other hand, you have to get odd mushroom, and other things.
So it should even up at the end, hopefully with the new route ahead.

Here's what I did this time:

Adult Link
Pocket Egg
Bugs
Hookshot
Lon Lon Stick
Cojiro
RBA Odd Mushroom
Minuet
Savewarp into Light Arrow Cutscene
Bow
Ganon

After the Light Arrow Cutscene, the Master Sword will be back on B.

Something to keep in mind when running this: it uses the old switch trick where you dump a bottle, recatch, and do an RBA backflip (doesn't actualy RBA ;)) onto a switch. Adding the time it takes to dupe with the time it takes to dump, recatch, and backflip, you should be able to attempt the new method (using Letter) three to five times and still save time. These are rough calculations, however... Still, no need for dupe and two fish. ^_^
