Title: Post Page Updates Here Post by: mzxrules on December 30, 2010, 08:10:55 AM Since I don't want my PMs to fill up completely with updates, and because I don't want to delete my pms in case i forgot to add something, and because I can't edit PMs to cross out what I've added, and because PMs weren't really built for more than just PMing, and since no one is adding anything because they don't have the permissions necessary, I am finally creating this thread.
Ok so the point of this thread is to have a place where anyone who wants to contribute to the site can do so by posting whatever changes here. Then when one of us moderators can just copy pasta it to the appropriate page whenever we're really, really bored. Once the updates have been made, moderators should use the For adding a new trick to an existing page, your post should be in the format [link] [trick name] [discovered by] [trick description] [links to other media (youtube, images, etc.)] so for example, if you wanted to add something to the Adult Reset page it would look like... (Slower, older tricks appear below newer, more efficient tricks) 3) GCN over Wii (for TP pages only) so make sure that you make a note to let me know where it should fit in. This method is best used if you wish to enter the Fire Temple immediately after obtaining the magic meter as an adult. Upon entering Death Mountain Crater, head over to the boulder on the left. Aim towards the peak where the heart piece is, turn around, and crouch stab the boulder. Pause, and continue using pauses to advance until you first see Link get pushed back be the recoil. Immediately equip the hoverboots and use a roll to reach the peak and skip the Bolero. So don't jumpslash too early or you won't get through (or stay in), but if you do it too late then you will die. At least if you get spit back out, you still have the proper angle and can keep holding Z and just use a bottle to sheath your sword. Then you can do it again. This is faster than dying at least and having to set it up again (as well as the falling time, and the time it takes to run back over there from the entrance). Replace "Changes" with "Aesthetic Changes". Ganondorf’s Blood In version 1.2 (N64) and onward, Ganondorf & Ganon’s blood was changed from red to green. This was probably to maintain an “E for Everyone” rating. Fire Temple Song In versions 1.0 & 1.1, the Fire Temple song contains religious-themed vocals from the Muslim faith. One line, translated into English, states: “I bear witness that there is no god but Allah”. In versions 1.2 (N64) and onward the song was replaced with what seems to be a remix of the Shadow Temple’s song. This new song contains no discernable lyrics, only Gregorian-style moans and a ghostly female chorus can he heard. Both versions of the song can be downloaded below: Symbol Change In all N64 versions a crescent moon & star symbol is present on the mirror shield, dungeon blocks, and Gerudo signs in the game. In version 1.2 (GCN) and onward, this symbol was replaced with the diamond-shaped Gerudo symbol that was used in Majora’s Mask. The symbol was most likely swapped-out because of its striking resemblance to the symbol on many country flags (Pakistan's, Algeria's, Azerbaijan's, Turkey's, etc), and stepping on a country's symbol of "progress and knowledge" could have been controversial. It’s worth noting that the editors neglected to replace the old symbol in the beginning and ending rooms of the Dampe grave race in all versions. The altered Gerudo symbol is caused by the emulator itself; if you extract the ROM and play it in, say, Mupen, you'll see that the game is completely identical to N64 v1.2. You know those people who hack different textures into the game? That's what Nintendo did, basically.
There are slight differences caused by emulation (like being able to pull out Deku Sticks without crashing the game), which means that you have to make some distinction between VC and N64 v1.2. Also, people might disagree with me but I think we should keep NTSC-J and PAL specific details off the page to prevent clogging as well. A few notes here and there is OK but we don't need half a page of info for every version when there's only a few differences really worth noted. Most people checking the site want to know if they have: Red blood, Islamic song, if they can hover OOB, and how many times they can save in an RBA playthough. That said, I'd be all for archiving every version difference we know of on a separate page and putting a link to it on our main versions page for people who want to know all the changes. Dungeon Speed Tricks Deku Tree Enter Deku Tree as Adult -Method 3- Hoverslide Clip 1. Go to the left side of the Deku Tree where the gossip stone is if you beat the Forest Temple. 2. Stand a few steps to the right of where the gossip stone is/would be and align the left side of the sword button with the center of the tree like in the video. You will not clip otherwise. 3. Superslide and equip the hover boots. 4. Once you clip into the void let go of the shield button and hold up-right on the control stick to curve your hoverslide towards the load zone. Press B to Jumpslash near the end of the hoverslide in order to greatly increase your chance of reaching the load zone. Forest Temple Boss Key Skip -Method 2- Hover Jumpslash Clip in Bow Room 1. Get ISG and do a staircase hover. 2. Bomb hover 3 times (or until you can only see your boots) 3. Shield drop a chu and press z twice to target and un-target it. 4. Turn around by pressing up left slightly then letting go and pressing down. 5. Sidehop right and jumpslash. Hold forward to not get clipped back out, but don't go too far forward or you'll be in the unloaded staircase poe room. 6. Tap forward until the door disappears. 7. Turn right and make your way to the edge and sidehop using the angle shown to land in the loading zone. 1. Get in the corner and align the bottom of your sword with the side of the pillar. 2. Turn around and walk forward up to the wall. 3. Sidehop right and drop a bomb. 4. Sidehop left and wait a second or two before dorpping a second bomb. 5. Superslide and pause on the first frame you clip. 6. Equip the hover boots and hold up on the control stick so link goes back really fast. Don't do this too long or you'll land in an unloaded room. 7. While falling back, unequip the hover boots and hold up-left to land in the loading zone. Fire Temple Boss Key Skip -Method 3- Hoverslide Clip in Hammer Room 1. In the Megaton Hammer room, go to the end of the channel that the boulder rolls in. 2. At the very end there is an acute corner on the left. Get against the right side wall next to the corner and align with it. 3. Slowly move left into the corner until Link stops going left. Stop holding left. 4. Backflip. 5. Align the left side of the C-Down button with the left side of the corner's seam. 6. Turn around and do a superslide (let go of Z-target), pause and equip hoverboots. 7. Pause buffer until you start to clip into the corner. 8a. Unpause and immediately hold Z-target then right on the control stick until the hoverslide wears off. 8b. IF YOU DO NOT CLIP and you are just against the corner, unpause (you can take your time after the unpause, no rush) and hold Z-target and right on the control stick. Now do step 9 9. Hold forward until you fall into the load zone for the boss room. -Method 4- Superslide Clip in Hammer Room 1. Get into the corner at the end of the channel and align the top left of the handle of the sword icon with the edge of the wall. 2. Do a superslide and immediately hold right on the control stick. 3. As soon as you clip, let go of R and continue holding right. 4.
