Title: Individual Levels Table
Post by: AniMeowzerz on May 19, 2010, 08:10:35 AM
-Updated as of 05/20/2010
Let's start up competition!!

Please discuss what should and shouldn't be included on the IL table, Would be good to know your guys' input. But of course, at least 5 are obvious.

Notice: There's only 1 spot for each IL. That spot only goes to the best. Want your name shining there instead of someone else's? Beat their time! ;)

SAVE-WARPING IS NOT ALLOWED. Although, death-warping is. Use it to your advantage :)

Any% IL Rules are simple: Get from beginning to end as quickly as possible. Timing starts from when you first start moving until you enter the warp at the end.

100% IL Rules are as follows: Go through the entirety of the dungeon. You must visit every room, open every chest, and collect the heart container after defeating the boss. Timing rules are the same as Any%. IT IS WELL ADVISED TO SHOW YOUR MAP AT THE END BEFORE ENTERING THE WARP TO VERIFY THAT YOU MET THE REQUIREMENTS! It's just common courtesy, not to mention I will not count it against your time :)
The exception to the All-chests rule are the Tingle Tuner chests. Reasons being that they do not show up on the in-game map, not everyone has a GBA or the cable that connects to the GCN/Wii, and even then not everyone has somebody to do the snazzy Tingle Tuner co-op with them.
If it is up for popular demand though, perhaps another 100% category including Tuner strats?

Ideas to consider: Savage Labyrinth IL, Island completion? Feel free to discuss whatever.

For an FF1 IL wouldn't Tetra text skipping be a timesaver?

Yes, I noted that to Venick. He thought he needed it for the subscreen when really all I care about is map completion lol

You actually get the Pirate's Charm the moment you zone into FF1, not when you trigger that text. You already have it.

I've been showing interest in DRC any% IL lately. I've been talking to Razor a little bit about it on YT, but it makes more sense to talk about it here, I guess.

My plan is to get DL beforehand (possible?) and use a Tingle Bomb to hover from the entrance of the large room and aim to land on the bridge. Work my way up to GH and take damage during that fight. DL down the broken stairs, BK skip and Gohma. I guess it'd take about 12 minutes since I'd be waiting for TT and Gohma takes forever.

EDIT:

Can you start an IL having drunk soup or not?

Like I just told you on youtube, I can give you a pretty good route for it. The deku leaf is possible before DRC, but if you're going at that you might as well get the bombs early as well. It would be faster to use regular bombs than Tingle bombs anyway. Also Marcus has good Gohma strats on his channel as well.

I don't need help with Gohma. He just takes forever no matter what. I wonder how much a bomb can damage him though.

Why are Tingle bombs slower? (Never used TT).

You don't get the instant explosion out of tingle bombs that you get out of regular ones.
Route:
-Make sure to have TT equipped on button of preference before entering DRC, also make wind blow south and damage at 1/4 heart
-Intro CS, use TT glitch to call Tingle and equip DL over previous TT icon
-Roll to statues pull first out all the way, & second 1 pull
-Pull out sword, JS over railing and quickspin bokoblins
-Grab Deku stick, light first torch and throw to light second
-Small key chest, open door
-Break wooden barrier, leaf to double bomb platform
-Tingle Bomb, Hover to 2nd level, equip red ting during hover
-Press ting when link's head reaches the level of the platform
-Next room, quick bokoblins (3 slashes then quickspin)
-Latter to next room
-Grab water jug throw on lava jet open door
-Pull out bomb throw at rock blocking door, slash for quick explosion
-Staircase quick kill bokoblins and moblin (5 slashes then quickspin, also take damage here)
-Talk to Medli for GH, grapple to post from ground
-Swing and let go at height of your swing, glide to rock face
-Roll past wooden barrier, open door to room with boss door
-BK skip off of regular bomb with slash (preferably variation 1)
-Quick gohma battle, enter warp, Yeah!!!

If you hit up on the Dpad on the GBA/SP/whatever, Tingle will move a little bit away from link, you can get an instant explosion out of this, making it faster then a normal bomb. I would say do this for an IL, given you need to be really fast for it to save time.

You have to watch the cutscene at the start? I thought it was the point that you first controlled Link that the timer started so can't I watch it once and save? It'll keep me getting warped back to KoRL every time I want to try again.

I still think that hovering from the entrance of the main room is quicker. The hover will take the same amount of time because I'll hit the wall before I get enough height, but then you don't have to DL over. I kinda rushed that other route idea and I can see the problems with it now, but I'm thinking about this and it should work. I mean the only reason people hover from there is because there's a bomb flower there, not because it's the best spot.

Why do you need to put DL over TT with that glitch?

I've used the Dpad to move Tingle away from Link a little before but never gotten an instant explosion. I guess that can be fixed. I just kind of threw that route together based on prior knowledge.

I don’t believe that would be faster because the bridge will be a harder target to hit, also you’d have to break the wooden barrier, activate the cutscene then hover or else the CS will probably make you die. About the entrance cutscene, it’s a bit more of common courtesy than a rule, but I’m pretty sure it’s a requirement. I’m also pretty sure that DL over TT would save a second or two on equipping time, but like I said, I sort of threw this together. I’ll do some more in-depth testing on it today.

EDIT: Changed a few things on the route.

You should be able to save in the dungeon and do a retry after the opening CS. (as long as you don't change anything in the dungeon) The rule having it be the first time you enter the dungeon is only for TP, because in Lakebed it save warps you past a part of the Temple.

I don't mean hovering to the bridge, I mean walk into the room, turn to the right and instant Tingle bomb to start a hover instead of DLing over to that platform.

And the DL over TT thing, I'm not saying it won't save time. I'm saying I don't know why you did it, because I don't know very much about the Tingle Tuner.

Also I think you should DL over the lava in the boss door room. You don't need to start the hover from that far back really.

Even then I'm almost positive that the hover from there would take longer. DL over TT for TT glitch so you call Tingle and don't have to pause again to equip something over the TT. I don't know about leafing over the lava. True, you don't have to start as far back, but would it be worth it?

Well you're closer so you spend less time aiming yourself towards it, it's higher up so you'll get there a few seconds earlier and you don't have to spend time working your way over to the bomb flower platform. The way I see it, it should be about 10 seconds faster (assuming it even works).

I guess I'll retime it, but as far as being 10 seconds faster I don't know about that. The bats can also be annoying but hopefully that won't happen every time.

Bump. We could use some tww ILs done. I was just looking over the tww page and there are almost no ILs in the table. I'll try to get some of my own done.

For an IL, would you be able to make the save in Dolphin for superswims, then move it to console and do the IL?
