Post by: GCTK24 on June 19, 2015, 07:06:07 AM
I just wanted to say that after we both worked 8 month on this 100% TAS every single day we are finally done!
Rendering and uploading will still take a bit but the release is gonna be soon.
We are going to upload it on my Brothers channel

https://www.youtube.com/user/MoronicTAS

We don't have a huge range on both of our channels so we Need help from all of you.

what is the the final time ? let me know what you guys think :)!

I'm glad you finally manage to make it :)

I'm excpeting a sub 4 but I think it's ambitious for such a run made in only 8 months

So from what I understand about the process of the TAS's you make is that you TAS a section and then splice the video to make it look like its a single input file? I dunno, but I feel like that would allow you to download a video from another person and use it in the TAS...

well where would they even find a video to splice from? no one has ever done a 100% tas before

Is collaboration a crime? I thought it was a good thing.

he thought we could take a video from another TASer, who is not implemented in our 100% TAS and say it would be our Video, but there's no other TASer in this project. everything is TASed by GCTK and me.
Also we would love to hear what you guys think our timing will be ;)

When you record a TAS, you do it frame by frame and with save states on an emulator. All your inputs will be saved in a seperate file and in the end the whole run will consist of this single file. This input has to be provided to show that the TAS is legit, and if you do, there is no way to cheat either.

Their any% run on youtube is however spliced together when it comes to the encode itself. They never provided the actual input file, which is quite suspicious to be honest... But hopefully they are going to with this one, otherwise it too can't be fully trusted.

It is possible to edit the input file, as you can open up the file and view the input. Though when you edit it, depending on the game, there is a high chance that the run desyncs because of changes in the RNG and similar.

Nobody has posted it yet, but here is the full run: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pe8A4X_sNow

This 100% run is spliced, too. As a user commented on Reddit (https://www.reddit.com/r/speedrun/comments/3cc422/tas_ocarina_of_time_100_tas_in_3475717_by/csu8g5w): "Where did the 14 deaths at 1:30:00 come from?"

Why is this being taken so seriously though?

One thing I can think of is that if you splice, the rng might be different. Splicing may give an advantage then.

I don't really care it is spliced. It is cool to see people doing such big projects. I do think it should specifically be mentioned in the description it is spliced.

It does say that it'd spliced in the description, he added it after the release some time. And the rng manipulation wouldn't be much different since there's thousands of ways to manipulate the same effect in a tas

All you need to know is written down in the description :) if not, just ask me and you'll probably get an answer ;)
