Title: eShop Version
Post by: ZeldaFan on May 23, 2014, 02:55:22 AM
Are there any differences between the retail and eShop versions of OoT3D? Is there a v1.0, v1.1,v1.2, etc. like the original OoT had?

Having the downloaded version lets you keep more than 3 save files

Also, what we know as far as all released versions go, is that Restricted Items glitch has been patched in the korean version.

So there's no difference between the NTSC eShop version of OoT3D and an NTSC retail copy of OoT3D? No glitches or bugs patched?

At most there might be like a 1 frame difference when loading some area or saving, I doubt though...

i went ahead and did a comparison of the load times between both versions.

long story short, the physical version is faster. the difference is very small but it becomes bigger with longer runs. at least the easiest version to get is the fastest one here.

Looks like I won't be transferring my save data from my physical copy to the digital version. I'll just start up a new Normal Quest and Master Quest file on the digital version of OoT3D and see if I can spot more differences.

bump

If the New 3DS [XL] can fully support and read Class 10 SDHC Cards with high transfer rates, the eShop version may be much faster on the New 3DS [XL].

looks like America got boned and only gets the N3DS XL.

btw, did anyone ever test if the jp text was faster for this version or did other language end up faster this time?
there's a OoT3D sale on the JP eshop now and i'd like to know.

Sorry for the very late reply, Uchiha! My phone has not been able to post on the forums for some time and that has demotibated me. Anyways, I'm going to be making some comparisons between language text speed in the near future whi ch should include the four languages on the NTSC version of the game, Japanese, and maybe Italian if I can get someone to share some recordings with me.

NA version only has English, Latin American Spanish and Canadian French, I know it's stupid but we should test German too just for it to be "complete". Not sure what you mean by recording, but Uchiha has the PAL version I think, so he should be able to get Italian footage easily. Only problem now is somehow getting the shitty Korean and Chinese versions text speed... (I know the former at least patched RI, but again, completeness :p)

I'm debating a new 3ds ll import vs NA. That could help solve the JP text issue.

One thing I've been wondering is that if you regionthree the JP version of OoT3D, does the language switch to English or not. Sucks that the physical copies are super expensive and hard to find.

i got the JP release that was on sale either way since it was just $25.

also, i'm on America so i have the US version (how come people assume i'm from a PAL country so often? it's not the first time it happens lol)

I've looked into this with OoT3D and MM3D, and it seems, with a good SD card, or in my case, MicroSD Card, testing on the New 3DS XL, it seems the game loads slightly faster from the eShop version, but its hardly noticeable.
