I was wondering if anybody wanted to do a big streamed hero mode race (via http://speedrunslive.com) around christmas / new years. not sure exactly what day or time but this obviously needs a bit of planning because the game itself takes all day to play through.

Let me know if you're interested in participating and if you have a suggestion for the day and time that would be good as well

I may be able to join. Totally depends on the timezone because the game is so long.
I will also not be able to participate through SRL for obvious reasons, so if I join, it will be unofficially I guess. I do not really care about a rating anyway.

Also, I want to suggest some small races in the future, much like lets say 3 spiritual stones in OoT.
Like, getting to the harp in Skyward sword maybe? That is 3 dungeons. Not to long, not to short. We miss out on most of the fun though. :p

Maybe even provide save files to each other so that we can start a race at a specific point.

This would all allow us to race without having to play through the entire game all the time. it is quite big right now.

I will have already done an SS run hopefully by then for some 4/48 (now 5/48) I guess. I might join in.

A few people have already done test runs.
I've done a few test runs (not the entire game at once though), usually to the harp.
Then I do a separate run from the harp to the song part collecting.
I've never done a run of the song part collecting, or anything after that. :|

I've been planning to start a segmented run for a while now, but seeing as we're currently having momentum in finding timesavers, I'll probably wait a while.
The run is not to be taken to seriously though. It'll be more like a decent playthrough using all tricks available without any big mistakes.

Anyway, which timezone is the majority of people in? I may not be able to join if the timezone is to messed up. :p

A lot of tests and shit is coming up in the next few weeks. I'd recommend that we do it after christmas instead of before. And hopefully we set up the race for GMT or something. xD

GMT+10 here, not really fussed about hours though, can be up whenever as long as there's some notice.
Would prefer closer to new year's than christmas honestly.

I've always streamed ever since I got banned, since I know that there is people out there that doesn't trust me now, for obvious reasons.
It was that ban that made me start in the first place, I didn't stream before that.

So, streaming should not be a problem for me, ever. And if I can't stream (may happen, since I share the easycap with my brother), I'll just stay out, I do not want to get in any more trouble.

More towards New Years would be better for me. I would be able to do it and stream if it is after the 28 or so. Would we all get in vent or something during the race?

I would probably be up for it, especially now that I have streaming capabilities. I am currently going through the game for the second time (on a hero mode file) I will try to go through it as much as I can before then to get completely at home in all the areas of the game, so that I may have a fighting chance ;).

I'm considering actually competing in this even though I've never raced before. May even pull out my old streaming hardware which I haven't used in age.

Even if I make it to be able to play around christmas I could not stream. Could I still join? (I'd still be recording indirectly).

Just an update, I will be out of town until mid-day the 29th. I should be able to play the 29th though.

Yeah I'll try to join this. Been awhile since I used my capture card. First live stream too. So this is going to be a full hero mode any%?

Also, anyone wanna do a small race a bit sooner? I wanna get some practice streaming.

I will do a few harps runs later this week to make sure my stream and everything works. Do you have steam or any times that work best for you?

How does the 30th work or the big hero any%? We could start it as early as 10EST and it wouldn't be too bad for the PST players like myself.

We will race. But I'm kinda dreading full game. I've only been working up to harp. Only 2 playthroughs on the rest of the game. Any ideas what segments would be good to time?

Yeah, me too. I've only done 3 playthroughs, and one harp run. Do we have a written route yet to make this a little less daunting?

Well I'll make one tonight, but I won't have time to go all the way through, so I'll just read a couple of shitty walkthroughs and see what I can piece together. Feel free to make your own, mines gonna be shit

If it's any consolation I will have played the game only 2 time when this happens, if that. And I haven't really practiced. I'll be happy just for the chance to race!

Not that great for a race, you wanna go as fast as possible. I just have to get better at reading his dash attack thing, he holds his sword different depending what side of you he's going on.

ik what you mean about no shielding then. I just find it better to shield and not die then to screw up your run. You should just watch the best boss battles strats and try to get em with the goddess sword.

if this makes you feel better, i owned Demise and Ghirahim 3 in boss rush in hero mode and i almost died to Ghirahim 1. he's a tricky mofo.

The only thing I don't look forward to when replaying is the Imprisoned fights. They are the most unfun and respectively infuriating fights ever.

at least they're easy  :P

I hope we can wait at least 3 more days. My stationary computer broke the other day, and so did my laptop charger. I'm on my 3ds right now.

10am est sounds good for me. As long as it doesn't run into the night of the 31 I will be willing to finish the race no matter what.

This is the time I’ve been passing around on Speed Runs Live and while streaming because it’s currently the only suggestion, but it looks like this will work out well for a lot of people. Let’s make it a big race and it will be great!

I'm gonna have to give this a miss after all, new years period is too hectic in our family. If someone wans to do another sometime in Jan I will almost definitely be up for it though. Good luck, guys. :)

I can't join on the race, cause it's too close to Shabbot. But there's no reason we can't have more than one race. I might join if there's also on on the 1st.

Dunno if I'll participate in this, I was saying I prolly would earlier but I think I'd rather just wait and see how I'm feeling tomorrow and what kind of turnout this thing actually gets.

Well has it started, for a long run it's convenient to start early and finish at some reasonable bed time isn't it? I thought it would be fine to base the timezone for the race somewhere in the middle of the atlantic. It's 16:12 here as I write, and I'm ready for a night with our green clothed hero.

edit. So far, at the end of Earth Temple, it looks good. Paraxadeand Onlyone are doing a good job.
