Title: Hello I'm new here Post by: codycero on October 28, 2011, 06:06:27 PM My main question is
Is there still room for innovation in this community? As in introduction of glitches that might not have been found before. I'll just take my own initiative here and post something I found the other day. I'm new to zelda oot glitching, never even seriously considered doing it before but anyway... I found a glitch allowing me to mess up some camera functionality. First of all you need to get to part of game after you have obtained epona, iron boots, and bow or hookshot. Then perform swordless link. Now go to a body of water and perform ground swimming glitch. Now dive on ground to get locked in "rising up for air" state. Then use hookshot to go back to normal walking again, but you should still have the diving timer on a. Now go and mount epona and use ocarina or the like to dismount her and go remote control. Now pull out hookshot/bow to make it start the beeping noise and have everything lock up. Afterwards. switch hookshot/bow with another item from your subscreens to put it away, then use a deku nut. You should now be walking around with camera behind your back. After this equip iron boots and walk into a body of water. You're camera should lock up and get stuck in place. Now, while you still have iron boots on, walk back out of the water. You're camera should resume following you again. But Z-/L-targeting is acting differently. Feel free to reequip different boots at this point and walk around. You will notice that when you target you do not get a windowed mode applied to you're camera, nor does you're camera adjust in any way. When you target after performing this glitch it will l-target you're character in what ever direction you're facing. So for example. If you turn you're character to you're camera. Then press z/l you will l-target in the direction of you're camera and pressing forward on analog will make you backwalk and pressing A while doing so makes you backflip. Title: Re: Hello I'm new here Post by: codycero on October 29, 2011, 01:46:11 AM Is the reply/view ratio basically just saying that people have already seen this glitch, think it's useless, and don't even want to bother replying. If so, well, I'm totally new to glitching in zelda games, started trying just like four days ago. So at least have the courtesy to show me some recognition.
But as to avoid making this post seem like a rage, I will say that... I have done a decent amount of glitches I've seen on this site and on YT past four days and haven't had much luck with techniques. But I understand B A & R B A now. I also found something on my own before this that was to my disappointment discovered already. The air swimming glitch. But I did notice something not mentioned in the video already made of it, but it becomes pretty obvious after trying it a few times. There is variation to falling speeds depending on what kind of slope you dive on to get locked up in "rising up for air" state. I've fallen so slowly with it I could air swim over the wall where fishing pond door is. Other than that, not sure if it's news but I can ground swim in gerudo valley. You know the water puddle at upper area, basically right where you start in valley after entering from hyrule field. Well basically I performed remote control epona and left epona on the plank above the puddle. Then I jumped down into canyon below and warped myself back to epona. Thanks to effects of the warp I could start swimming below map using the puddle water surface way above me, then I simply floated back up. But I made sure that When I surfaced, I would surface in the protrusion of ground that the plank stuck out of. Then I would move slightly to regain normal camera control, but make sure to not completely pop out from "inside" the map. Then I face towards the direction of where the water surface meets the ground. Then I swim forward while targeting and perform ground swimming glitch. If you do it wrong you might sink too much, or you might not successfully ground swim out of protrusion and wind up walking, having to start all over again. But if you do it right you will pop out of the protrusion onto normal map, ground swimming. There's certainly the possibility for more tricks to be discovered. The problem is that OoT has been around for so long, that many tricks have been found and more or less fallen to the wayside in favor of tricks useful for speedrunning. ZSR's main site is no where near a complete compilation of every single trick or glitch, as there's more than a thousand tricks that are known. Quote long trick description I think I may have done this before, can't remember though There is variation to falling speeds depending on what kind of slope you dive on to get locked up in "rising up for air" state. How do different slopes determines how fast you drop, and how can you reach the pond? Quote Other than that, not sure if it's news but I can ground swim in gerudo valley. Sorry about long descriptions. I'm also a programmer and I get very detailed, and this is an edit, so I'm sorry again for doing it in this post as well. Lols, yeah, swimming in the "dinky puddle" was a rather random decision wasn't it, though I couldn't literally swim in the completely on map parts of it as the ground beneath it would just make me walk like normal but I can swim under it and in the spot I mentioned that protrudes upwards where the plank meets with ground, as in that case, there is ground above me and around me, but not below me. Sloped ground effects speed of the fall because the deeper you dive the faster it wants you to rise to the surface. You can't dive on too slanted a slope or can't dive down from mid-air because it makes you "surface" and you don't get stuck "rising". But even so, even the slightest difference in slope between two spots makes a huge difference. (All the following assume starting fall from roof of lab in lake hylia) On a flat surface it falls so fast that it even starts picking up speed while falling. On a fairly sloped surface you can go significantly farther and it won't pick up speed whilst falling. On good slope you can make it to fishing pond thing like in video. On a perfect slope you could go over the fishing pond thing and OoB. With that kind of fall you could start off from height of the lab, and hang over the spot where magic leaf is, and you could go take a dump and come back, and you still won't have touched the leaf. With normal fall from roof of lab, it only takes half a second to land on leaf. The camera lock was largely luck by performing all the said glitches and accidentally walking into water, I noticed the camera thing. Then piecing together the reason why it occurred was simple. Though I don't entirely understand the logic behind it as I don't know how they coded it exactly, but the combination of the behind the back camera and diving state caused it for sure. The interaction with water surface even when I was wearing iron boots must of made it want to adjust my camera to "surfacing" due to the "rising" state but because I had my camera behind the back and how I was still walking normally it tried to maintain behind the back camera but got stuck in some conflict between them. The result was that the camera got completely stuck in place when I touched the water surface at a depth enough to start swimming. When I walked back out, it allowed the camera to follow me again, but kept the bugginess of the conflict. See for example: every other thread in every forum.
Anyway, the glitch sounds similar to something like this: http://www.jaytheham.com/zcw/Ocarina_of_Time_Swordless_Link_-_No_Z_Trigger Not sure if it's exactly the same or even related, but if it's not the same as this then it might be new. Sounds pretty crazy and good job finding it yourself. Title: Re: Hello I'm new here Post by: Cosmo on October 30, 2011, 11:09:16 AM Lately innovations in OoT have been less to do with brand new glitches, but rather useful applications of already known things, like re-inventing tricks to be more consistent or fast.
