Title: Individual Levels / Individual Dungeons (IL) Post by: Lexkeeta on September 14, 2009, 07:09:58 PM This is ZSR's official dungeon speed running contest! Here, we run through MM's dungeons in a variety of different categories as quickly as possible.
JIANO EDIT: Official Page (http://zeldaspeedruns.com/site/index.php?link=mm/runs/individuallevel) general rules: - you cannot use the dungeon item until you open the chest where it was - timing starts upon gaining control of link in the 1st room of the dungeon - timing ends upon touching the blue warp post-boss - no crooked cart - avoid emulator runs if possible please (as they may be banned in the future!!) - low-visual quality runs are OK! camcorders are fine. - runs will be in 1 segment, you cannot savewarp. - can't take the instant warp to the boss - for consistency, you should have already completed the dungeon and have the boss remains before doing the run. - no FD mask any%: - no other restrictions 100%: - all fairies - get the dungeon item - get the compass and map These are the main two categories as of now! Maybe in the future we will have a low% or similar category but for now these are good. Discuss any comments or concerns. Title: Re: Majora's Mask dungeon time thread Post by: RingRush on September 15, 2009, 02:00:48 AM I'm not sure about the specifics of your proposition, but the idea in general is a good one (that I was pushing for a while back).
Also, speedruns of any place with a timer in OoT would probably be interesting and easy to track. Title: Re: Majora's Mask dungeon time thread Post by: Lexkeeta on September 15, 2009, 06:58:36 PM That's for us to discuss. Before this officially starts.
Title: Re: Majora's Mask dungeon time thread Post by: Cosmo on September 15, 2009, 07:26:39 PM There should be a good way to set the rules up so this results in fun, interesting runs.
All fairies could lead to some interesting routes. Title: Re: Majora's Mask dungeon time thread Post by: Jiano on September 15, 2009, 07:28:49 PM This sounds kind of interesting.
I think Woodfall should always be one segment, 2 segments seems kind of lame for an IL table type of deal. Same for STT. I'm not sure what you mean by it must use the route used in the corresponding run, since routes change and we want to see creativity. What about the GFS, that would be kinda lame, I say Kokiri Sword only. Actually I see what you mean with the corresponding runs route, there's gotta be a better way. Ok, the rule about the dungeon item is pro so that works out good. What about emulator/console rules? Doesn't matter? Title: Re: Majora's Mask dungeon time thread Post by: Unreal on September 15, 2009, 09:51:49 PM This is good shit, thanks for starting this topic I was going to start my own soon but I see it's been taken care of. Imo, I'd prefer the runs to be done on console but it shouldn't really matter if it's done on emulator. (No mupen <_<) I like Jiano's idea with Kokiri sword only. Maybe the Gilded sword can be an exception in the 100% IL runs. Also on the dungeon items... I preferably would like it if the dungeon item wasn't obtained. In other words, no blue rupee chest. So here are my ideas on rules
-Kokiri Sword only (see above for Gilded Sword idea) -100% can use upgraded items. Other categories must use the default capacity -Can't use dungeon item until obtained -Follow the intended route (I'd like this to be discussed, i.e. hookshot in Woodfall) -Timing starts as soon as you gain control to when you lose control (Like Lexkeeta said) -Runs can be done on both console and emulator -You can use a a low quality camera to record (Idk... ?) ...Blah blah, basically what Lexkeeta said except I added a few things. Idk, these are just some rough ideas. And the whole "follow the intedned route" thing. Basically whatever items, capacity, etc. you would have in the route up to the point of that temple, is what you should have in the IL run. BTW, this shit deserves a sticky IMO. Title: Re: Majora's Mask dungeon time thread Post by: Jiano on September 15, 2009, 10:34:24 PM Ok Unreal and I discussed this a bit. What do you think?
Any% = Just finish the dungeon. Kokiri Sword only. Biggest Quiver and Biggest Bomb bag are OK. You can use any item except Great Fairy Sword, can't use the dungeon item until you open the chest. 100% = All faeries, Compass, Map, Dungeon Item, and finish the dungeon. You can use any item, can't use the dungeon item until you open the chest. Any% No BK Skip = Same as Any% except no BK Skip allowed. Title: Re: Majora's Mask dungeon time thread Post by: Unreal on September 15, 2009, 10:37:47 PM Sounds great. Now, sticky this shit and let the speedrunning begin!
Title: Re: Majora's Mask dungeon time thread Post by: Lexkeeta on September 15, 2009, 11:01:06 PM Ok Unreal and I discussed this a bit. What do you think? Sounds good. I'll fix up my post later.Any% = Just finish the dungeon. It'll be a pain in the ass starting a new file just so I don't have gilded sword and mirror shield. I'd say mirror shield is ok as long as you don't reflect... and if I figure out how to do that gilded→kokiri shit that should be allowed edit: found it, it's easy. Just do C-button on Epona glitch, turn into a Zora, get off (when possible), and turn into Link. Then just go back in time and you have a kokiri sword (it looks like the gilded, but the power and range and everything is kokiri. You actually have to reforge if you want gilded back). So I guess this only applies to NTSC/JAP N64 though. Title: Re: Majora's Mask dungeon time thread Post by: Jiano on September 15, 2009, 11:20:04 PM Sounds good. I'll fix up my post later. Title: Re: Majora's Mask dungeon time thread Post by: Lexkeeta on September 16, 2009, 01:12:41 AM I fixed up post 1. I added a new route because I almost completely exploited Snowhead (I got to Goht at 2:25... the only thing stopping me was that HSW didn't work on him for whatever reason (were they really expecting someone to get to him with hsw so fast?)). Even still, a normal snowhead run and one with duped HSW and Goron Mask are still a lot different.
Title: Re: Majora's Mask dungeon time thread Post by: Jiano on September 16, 2009, 02:59:37 AM Did some thinking and decided to rework this a bit.
No bottled items from outside the dungeon. Can't use Dungeon Item before you open the chest(This means you can't use any arrows at all in Woodfall, because of the Quiver). Any% = Just finish the dungeon, no FD mask 100% = Faeries, Compass, Map, Dungeon Item, finish the dungeon. Low% = Just finish the dungeon. 1 Transformation Mask, Dungeon Item, Bombs, Chus. No upgrades, 3 Hearts, or any other upgrade/item type of deal. Thoughts? I'm not completely sold on the low% rules. What about limiting explosive use? Title: Re: Majora's Mask dungeon time thread Post by: Unreal on September 16, 2009, 04:49:12 AM Sounds great Jiano. Hopefully we can get the IL page up and running soon. What are others opinions on using the FD mask in the 100% category?
Title: Re: Majora's Mask dungeon time thread Post by: Slowking on September 16, 2009, 09:29:49 AM Why only Kokiri sword? Tbh that sounds boring as fuck. I don't want to see the runner hacking at Gomez for 10 minutes.
I can see no GFS, as you can't get it until after STT. The same goes for no rasor sword before SH and no guilded sword before GBT. But I really don't want to see Kokiri sword in STT. Title: Re: Majora's Mask dungeon time thread Post by: Unreal on September 16, 2009, 10:54:45 PM Woodfall in 1:39 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nJLn6R7NOKU)
I'm about to improve this. Title: Re: Majora's Mask dungeon time thread Post by: Lexkeeta on September 16, 2009, 11:17:43 PM Woodfall in 1:39 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nJLn6R7NOKU) nice job. So we can use gilded sword in an any% now?I'm about to improve this. I'm currently working on Snowhead any%. All I need is a good Goht and I'm set. Title: Re: Majora's Mask dungeon time thread Post by: Unreal on September 17, 2009, 01:30:42 AM 1:36 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3BdzgS5ryOo&feature=channel_page)
Fuck I messed up the bk skip again lol. Used two extra explosives... I'll redo it again sometime. Title: Re: Majora's Mask dungeon time thread Post by: Lexkeeta on September 17, 2009, 01:44:56 AM good shit, I'll update post 1 tomorrow.
I'm going to have to practice megaflips after my SH run (which luckily doesn't involve horizontal hovering). However, I do use a superslide, so mastering the quickslide is my top priority atm btw it's "should have." Title: Re: Majora's Mask dungeon time thread Post by: Cosmo on September 17, 2009, 02:20:42 AM The page is formatted and unreal's woodfall run is up. Officially taking run submissions now!
http://zeldaspeedruns.com/site/index.php?link=mm/runs/individuallevel Title: Re: Majora's Mask dungeon time thread Post by: Runnerguy2489 on September 17, 2009, 02:39:24 AM Page looks sweet.
How is timing being done officially? I guess verifying too. For now it's not a big deal since it's better just to get some runs up. If the site grows and these become really competitive, it'll probably better to get an official system set up. Title: Re: Majora's Mask dungeon time thread Post by: Cosmo on September 17, 2009, 02:41:34 AM Yeah we should have a better more official system for this soon but for now just upload runs into the /site/speedruns/mm/individuallevel/ folder and post em.
Title: Re: Individual Levels / Individual Dungeons (IL) Post by: Jiano on September 17, 2009, 04:40:12 AM Finally got a good GBT time: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dH5iS9HHc0s (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dH5iS9HHc0s).
Rules are done and the official page is up so lets fill in the tables. Title: Re: Individual Levels / Individual Dungeons (IL) Post by: Slowking on September 17, 2009, 11:12:48 AM I for one would rather encurage emulator runs, as they give you a great quality video. I mean come on, it's not like we won't be able to tell if somebody is cheating or using states. It's pretty obvious.
Btw. @ all runners. If it is within your scope it would be great if you would make MP4s of your run, with the video stream being h264 and the audio stream AAC. If the videos are in that format we can actually stream them on the site. @cosmo Don't you think the runs should be in a folder in the main-dir and not in the site- subdirectory? Title: Re: Individual Levels / Individual Dungeons (IL) Post by: Cosmo on September 17, 2009, 05:37:48 PM slowi - that directory was already there so I used it
Title: Re: Individual Levels / Individual Dungeons (IL) Post by: Lexkeeta on September 17, 2009, 07:13:08 PM this is nice
but no more natural route? edit: got 4:39 Snowhead on camera just now. I messed up my pause strats and goron rolls, but it was solid. My route definately needs adjustment considering I entered Wizrobe's room only a second faster than the normal way to run Snowhead. I'm not uploading until I get sub 4:30. Title: Re: Individual Levels / Individual Dungeons (IL) Post by: Slowking on September 17, 2009, 09:57:07 PM slowi - that directory was already there so I used it That really doesn't answer my question. :PThere aren't that many runs yet, so we could easily move it. Title: Re: Individual Levels / Individual Dungeons (IL) Post by: Lexkeeta on September 19, 2009, 01:22:06 AM Wait... how come a lot of youtube vids have Goht's thawing cutscene so fast?
I hope this doesn't mean the N64 version of that cutscene is 100x slower than the other versions... that's not fair Title: Re: Individual Levels / Individual Dungeons (IL) Post by: Jiano on September 19, 2009, 01:32:53 AM VC version also has no lag anywhere, yeah it is pretty unfair but there's nothing we can do about it.
Title: Re: Individual Levels / Individual Dungeons (IL) Post by: Lexkeeta on September 19, 2009, 02:21:11 AM gay
I guess I could eventually buy VC version, except: 1) My Wii is on my downstairs tv, which has extremely shitty picture and no room to set a camera (I'd have to balance it on a pillow on my legs) 2) If it's like GC OoT/MQ, the control stick is too precise Title: Re: Individual Levels / Individual Dungeons (IL) Post by: Jiano on September 19, 2009, 02:52:26 AM gay I guess I could eventually buy VC version, except: 1) My Wii is on my downstairs tv, which has extremely shitty picture and no room to set a camera (I'd have to balance it on a pillow on my legs) 2) If it's like GC OoT/MQ, the control stick is too precise Yep. To make it even worse, on the VC version you have to press the shoulder buttons ALL the way down or they don't register. Just to get it out of the way. Snowhead 4:31 played on N64. I'm going to redo it, but I'm going to practice quickslides and Goht before that happens. So feel free to update the table. Title: Re: Individual Levels / Individual Dungeons (IL) Post by: Lexkeeta on September 20, 2009, 03:47:15 PM cosmo updated the table but didn't put my time in.
is there a special way I'm supposed to submit this? Title: Re: Individual Levels / Individual Dungeons (IL) Post by: Cosmo on September 20, 2009, 05:04:12 PM I need the mp4 file, send it over IRC to me
If its not an mp4 you can download it from "My Videos" on youtube as an mp4, or I can convert it for you from a different filetype. Title: Re: Individual Levels / Individual Dungeons (IL) Post by: TSDA on September 20, 2009, 05:21:27 PM Good shit. BTW what temple do you guys think will be cool to do 100%?
Title: Re: Individual Levels / Individual Dungeons (IL) Post by: Lexkeeta on September 20, 2009, 05:45:53 PM you mean you can't just link to the youtube page?
I'll give it to you next time I'm on the comp Title: Re: Individual Levels / Individual Dungeons (IL) Post by: Cosmo on September 20, 2009, 05:48:37 PM we could link to the youtube page, but then we might end up with broken links later if peoples accounts get closed and shit, so we want to keep it all self contained. nice run btw
Title: Re: Individual Levels / Individual Dungeons (IL) Post by: Unreal on September 22, 2009, 07:43:04 PM Snowhead in 3:59 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qa7elHqRqoE)
About when I completed this run we all decided to ban emu runs. I'll probably be redoing all my runs with a low quality camera or wait till I get a dvd recorder. Title: Re: Individual Levels / Individual Dungeons (IL) Post by: Lexkeeta on September 22, 2009, 07:49:17 PM omfg that goht strat solves all my problems.
expect my snowhead run soon. edit: hell yeah I found a way to set up a perfect scarecrow skip spot. However for some reason, I can't (after 5 attempts today...which were at the end of sweet runs >_> ) ramp off the hill with the goron roll anymore. The first few times when I first tried petrie's near-impossible strat, I got the ramp easily, but after like 6th time I haven't been able to do it since. I hate Goht so much. I think I'm just going to be stupid and get good runs until it eventually works. oh and don't expect a time faster than unreal's because I have hover lag, snowball corridor lag, and slow goht scenes. Good thing emulators aren't allowed (for me anyway)... unless unreal has vc edit 2: after watching unreal's vid again, even door scenes are faster. Shit's too unfair edit 3: got to goht at 2:29 just now. I preyty much mastered scarecrow skip. I think next time I'll just pause buffer petrie's near-impossible strat. Title: Re: Individual Levels / Individual Dungeons (IL) Post by: Unreal on September 24, 2009, 01:57:13 AM Haha yeah my emulator run would be too unfair to be put on the IL tables. I'm going to do a snowhead run on n64 soon after I'm done running oot. That Goht strat is very annoying. The fact that sometimes you cannot knock down Goht on that first ramp like you said and I've never killed him with the GFS alone. I always have to shoot at least 1 or 2 fire arrows. And btw, yeah sc skip is easy imo.
Edit: This is interesting I timed my goht battle vs the old Goht strat and the old arrows method was about 2 seconds faster. The fact like you can have 50 (49 <_<) arrows you can just shoot them like a mad man at Goht getting consective and quick shots on him. Some one else can time this again to make sure. Title: Re: Individual Levels / Individual Dungeons (IL) Post by: Lexkeeta on September 24, 2009, 08:45:44 PM it doesn't matter because I'm doing petrie's gfs strat.
I got it once and I plan on getting it again. without pause buffer Title: Re: Individual Levels / Individual Dungeons (IL) Post by: Unreal on September 24, 2009, 09:05:45 PM Yeah I take what I said about teh arrow method back. I forgot about the key "stab" before jumpslashing.
Title: Re: Individual Levels / Individual Dungeons (IL) Post by: Jiano on September 25, 2009, 01:08:29 AM Here's the first 100% run(Woodfall) http://zeldaspeedruns.com/site/index.php?link=mm/runs/individuallevel (http://zeldaspeedruns.com/site/index.php?link=mm/runs/individuallevel). I'm getting lonely by myself on the page, need other people doing runs.
Title: Re: Individual Levels / Individual Dungeons (IL) Post by: Lexkeeta on September 25, 2009, 01:50:09 AM well not everyone can just wake up and say "you know, im so fucking awesome today that im gonna do an individual level spee- oh hey! I'm already done, time to upload!"
I started work on snowhead the day the easy bk skip was found... lol Title: Re: Individual Levels / Individual Dungeons (IL) Post by: Jiano on September 26, 2009, 11:46:18 AM Got a Woodfall any% up.
I started messing with STT, and it shits all over gbt/woodfall in difficulty so far. Title: Re: Individual Levels / Individual Dungeons (IL) Post by: Lexkeeta on September 26, 2009, 05:56:57 PM how do you do a bombchu recoil flip? Would it work in snowhead bk skip?
Title: Re: Individual Levels / Individual Dungeons (IL) Post by: Jiano on September 26, 2009, 10:15:52 PM how do you do a bombchu recoil flip? Would it work in snowhead bk skip? Just backflip and shield a chu. Probably won't work for Snowhead BK skip since it'll just stick to the wall. Title: Re: Individual Levels / Individual Dungeons (IL) Post by: Majora MIM on September 27, 2009, 10:13:35 AM Just backflip and shield a chu. Probably won't work for Snowhead BK skip since it'll just stick to the wall. Hold forward after releasing the chu. (The directions are inverted press left to go right and right to go left). And, for the STT any% IL, we can't use the giant mask if we haven't open its chest, right? Title: Re: Individual Levels / Individual Dungeons (IL) Post by: SD2 on September 28, 2009, 12:28:49 AM And, for the STT any% IL, we can't use the giant mask if we haven't open its chest, right? I think the dungeon item is the light arrow, so I believe it would technically be legal. Jiano/Cosmo/whoever will have to rule on it.Title: Re: Individual Levels / Individual Dungeons (IL) Post by: Lexkeeta on September 28, 2009, 12:55:12 AM If it's an item you can only get in the dungeon, you'd have to open its chest.
if you did get it, it's right near where you do bk skip, anyway. Title: Re: Individual Levels / Individual Dungeons (IL) Post by: Jiano on September 28, 2009, 01:58:36 AM Getting the Giant's Mask would be a huge waste of time not to mention it's really difficult to kill Eyegore from below.
Title: Re: Individual Levels / Individual Dungeons (IL) Post by: Lexkeeta on September 28, 2009, 09:58:16 PM fuck, lost internet connection due to t-storm with 49 minutes remaining.
I'll have to reupload my sh run tomorrow =\ edit: damnit, just now I realized how easy it is to hover to the snowballs and bk skip without c-up. This saves a lot of time on bk skip especially cuz I can pull out the bomb way earlier looks like I'm once again holding off my run Title: Re: Individual Levels / Individual Dungeons (IL) Post by: Cosmo on September 29, 2009, 01:11:43 AM wow keeta, dedication. lol
Title: Re: Individual Levels / Individual Dungeons (IL) Post by: Lexkeeta on September 29, 2009, 07:53:47 PM what the fuck, goht just crushed my dreams
I do snowhead pretty much perfectly (I've never gotten scarecrow's skip so fast! I was at wizrobe 38 seconds in) without any of my usual dumb mistakes (i.e. hookshotting and hovering were perfect) plus I did hovering and bk skip without adjusting c-up. And then I butcher goht. And I mean badly, I had to go around the stadium a good 1.25 times before I knocked him down and I still got a 4:01. I'm actually a little scared to think what my time would be if I got him perfect o_O Title: Re: Individual Levels / Individual Dungeons (IL) Post by: Jiano on October 14, 2009, 12:35:54 AM I'm working on STT any%. Only problem is that there's no way in hell my comp can handle recording a vid as long as sh100, let alone save it. So you'll have to wait until i can get someone to let me borrow their laptop. Maybe a week from now. I might do sh any% in the mean time, but no other il because there's only 2 files on VC. Title: Re: Individual Levels / Individual Dungeons (IL) Post by: JRD05 on May 13, 2010, 01:16:27 AM Hey guys, here is my first uploaded try at 100% Great Bay Temple:
http://www.megavideo.com/?v=DG9V9ELM There are some mistakes here and there some bigger than others. The end was somewhat climatic as I try to deliver the final strike to Gyorg and barely get to the blue warp in time to break 23 minutes. I'll try to bring it down to 20 or 21 minutes hopefully soon. Title: Re: Individual Levels / Individual Dungeons (IL) Post by: bobemmo on May 13, 2010, 02:15:15 AM I'm planning on doing snowhead 100% eventually, but I need to decide whether I want to do it on N64 or gamecube to reduce lag. Only problem is that my only file on the gamecube has just finished the first cycle as a deku and I'm too lazy to play all the way to great fairy sword.
How big is the lag anyways? It seems like a lot to me, with hovering and the Goht death cutscene, but maybe it just feels like a lot because I'm impatient. Can't be more than 10 seconds in the whole run, can it? Whatever, expect something within a week. Thanks go to Lexkeeta (well, I assume it was him) who convinced me to do one in some gamefaqs topic. Title: Re: Individual Levels / Individual Dungeons (IL) Post by: Lexkeeta on May 13, 2010, 06:40:53 PM good show
id say do it on 64, but you're at a big disadvantage compared to VC, which I'm doing my snowhead 100% on. I'm not giving away my route, btw (although i just streamed an extremely shitty version of it) Title: Re: Individual Levels / Individual Dungeons (IL) Post by: Slowking on May 14, 2010, 10:53:54 PM Hey guys, here is my first uploaded try at 100% Great Bay Temple: Uh you really should have deactivated auto focus on your camera. I was actually going to upload it like 4 days ago, but the file size was way too big and it would take forever, so I kinda forgot about it and haven;t touched it since. Not to mention I still can't decide whether I want to try to record a version with some of my errors fixed either. Anyone know good ways to make it so my 14 minute video isn't about 1.5 GB? Title: Re: Individual Levels / Individual Dungeons (IL) Post by: Lexkeeta on May 26, 2010, 06:55:17 PM improve your time and record at a lower visual quality setting.
as for my run, my computer cant even handle 1 minute on lowest quality, so im going to have to wait for a friend to come over with a laptop. But they're lazy fucks so dont expect anything from me soon =[ Title: Re: Individual Levels / Individual Dungeons (IL) Post by: Glitched! on May 27, 2010, 04:24:00 AM my pc cant even start loz mm

Title: Re: Individual Levels / Individual Dungeons (IL) Post by: thundrio on August 13, 2010, 12:01:10 AM i was wondering if the moon could be considered an IL (even though it would be incredibly annoying to run, because of the cutscene right before it). even though it is not a dungeon, neither is ganons castle (although gc has a boss key, while the moon doesnt).
the any% could be just to beat majora, while the 100% could be getting fd and all hps. i just was curious because i wanted to do this but saw it wasnt a catagory thanks Title: Re: Individual Levels / Individual Dungeons (IL) Post by: ING-X on August 13, 2010, 03:47:30 AM Last i checked the moon isn't a cat, nor is it any other type of animal

We have until August 30th to see who can submit a better GBT 100% IL. If anyone else wants in, feel free to do so. Title: Re: Individual Levels / Individual Dungeons (IL) Post by: Kaztalek on August 31, 2010, 12:49:00 AM Looks like Zero bitched out.

I did an any% for Stone Tower Temple. It's pretty bad about 29 minutes =( but since there's no entries for STT (atleast when I last checked and did this video) I'd make first no matter what. The route sucks, and my hovering is pretty bad, but oh well.
Here's the video on youtube:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wSWkmRGKhgU Here's the downloadable video MP4 format: http://www.mediafire.com/?cl8a63xp4gjac5d WARNING: WHEN WATCHING THIS VIDEO, PLEASE TURN DOWN THE SOUND, WAAAY DOWN AS I START TO SCREAM ABOUT HALF WAY THROUGH BECAUSE I SUCK AT THIS GAME SO MUCH!! Title: run Post by: Masterluigisw on March 20, 2011, 04:13:32 PM Your wall bomb hovers are pretty bad, you should practice more and learn when to backflip to optimize them (backflip later, just before it explodes). The route doesn't suck that much, you could of hookshoted on the giant mask chest instead of going all around, but I reckon it's some frame perfect shit.
A tip : for the STT revertion without Elegy, you go way to far on the other side, that's why you fall (there's only like 2-3 feet of solid path), you should go as close to the wall as possible, so you're sure to make it with 2 hovers and a backflip, your sidehop angle and timing are right on btw. unbeleivable fail around 12:00 lol, you should have used deku, much easier. Yeah. I know... about the STT invert without elegy, I know that...I guess I was kinda rushing trying to get a low time instead of lining myself right, I usually make it first time. Same with activating ISG, I dont usually mess up more than twice. And about the sidehop, I usually use two chus so that I'm vertically lined up as well cuz I usually play on an emulator so its hard to line it up right when you're way down there, but I released my a chu a little too early lol. And about the 12:00 fail, I saw that Petrie911 (i think) develuped a way to do that room with Goron mask roll...but I failed...figures...but atleast i make 1st place right?..well...untill someone else comes along and beats me by 20 minutes...lol i decided to do Woodfall and Snowhead and maybe Great bay (I HATE GBT). Anyways, I got 5mins for Woodfall (I kinda missed the boss loading zone and had to angle change and try it again, had a little trouble beating Odolwa without Bow, but remembered that even though I didnt have thw bow, I still had Fire Arrows (they're 2 diferent items technically). I'm going to do Snowhead now and after that I'll post both of them together. The Snowhead one is gonna be real bad because I can't do the BK skip...but I'm gonna do it anyways and TRY not scream so loud. (Woodfall is clean, no screaming =])\ EDIT: ALRIGHTY!! I finished Woodfall and Snowhead =) Here's Woodfall: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2XywOp3D2F4 http://www.mediafire.com/?l8xsl3ylc757qaq and here's Snowhead: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xbteCI16bzA http://www.mediafire.com/?8yp5b0cvsy9k0gw Title: Re: Individual Levels / Individual Dungeons (IL) Post by: Masterluigisw on March 20, 2011, 11:30:41 PM Snowhead BKS isn't that big of a deal, when you know how to do it. I even setted up my own 1 pause buffer strat.
First, you go to the door at the right and put yourself in the corner, now C-up and line yourself up, I usually use the middle of the clock as a landmark, but for explanation purpose, I'll use the left C button, you want to line up the left border of the left C button exactly on the vertical white wall. Then, pull out a bomb and wait until the very last moment before it explodes, shield-backflip and PAUSE right after. Now put your joystick in the north-east position and let go off pause. Don't press anything else and you should see link jump the loading zone. :) If you still can't do it, I might upload a vid to show you how I'm doing it, it works 100% of the time, good luck ;) Title: Re: Individual Levels / Individual Dungeons (IL) Post by: Kzar5678 on March 20, 2011, 11:47:29 PM I'll have to try that later. The problem I have is the timing, I suck at Recoil Flipping off a bomb. i can do it off a chu no problem, but for somereason i cant get the timing right with a bomb. I'll try it out later though
Title: Re: Individual Levels / Individual Dungeons (IL) Post by: Kaztalek on March 21, 2011, 02:23:25 AM It's sweet that someone new is taking an interest in MM =].
I'll take a look at these later and give some tips. In the mean time, keep up the practice. Title: Re: Individual Levels / Individual Dungeons (IL) Post by: Kzar5678 on March 21, 2011, 07:40:54 PM Yea, I think I'm going to re-do Woodfall and not hit that switch by accident, not miss the loading zone and use Fire Arrows from the start anf not try to do the Bomb Flower method. I think that might chop 1-2 minutes off my time
Title: Re: Individual Levels / Individual Dungeons (IL) Post by: Kzar5678 on March 23, 2011, 11:57:09 PM ZOMGS!!! I redid Woodfall and my time has been cut by 2 minutes!! The time is 2:42. =) Thats EXACTLY 2 minutes shorter, down to the second exact O.o

I don't have anything to record with, but I think it's fine considering I'm not good at it yet =P
cut my time down to 9:44 earlier. I think I can easily cut 9 minutes, so I'll have a video soon Title: Re: Individual Levels / Individual Dungeons (IL) Post by: Kzar5678 on April 12, 2011, 08:40:33 PM I've re-atempted Snowhead 4 times and screwed up each time >=O I can't do the block skip with all those annnoying white things there and killing them then skipping takes longer than just pushing the block. I'm just about done with Snowhead and might move on to GBT. I just need to find a good route because I don't want to do the BK skip. I might do 2 one with BKS and another without...I dunno...

Title: Re: Individual Levels / Individual Dungeons (IL) Post by: bloodisblue on November 04, 2011, 02:26:11 AM Just curious but how exactly do you guys manage to set everything up for a 100% or any% IL run? Do you play through the game getting all the items and do a BK skip to beat the boss the first time?
I'm mainly asking because in Jiano's 100% Woodfall run he has Great Spin which you get for turning in all the Fairies. I forget if you can still collect fairies after turning them in (haven't really tried in a long time). Also could I get a mentor :D I don't have much time but am learning the tricks pretty quickly so far. Title: Re: Individual Levels / Individual Dungeons (IL) Post by: playe on November 04, 2011, 03:08:39 AM I just download a 100% file that's already on the internet on put it onto my Wii and just buy all the bombs/chus I'll need, make sure I have enough arrows if needed, and save at a owl statue before going into the temple in case I need to reset.
And I could mentor you if you have Skype. (If you do PM me your skype name and I'll add you. ;)) Title: Re: Individual Levels / Individual Dungeons (IL) Post by: Kaztalek on November 04, 2011, 06:30:04 PM do not learn from playe
