With all the possibilities, we need a thread to keep track of the multitude of possibilities. This also serves to indicate what has and has not been tested.

Ganon's Castle early: Many barriers, cannot find a way through
Power bracelets early: You get burned
Hover past electric gate in Hyrule Castle: More invisible barriers
Top of DRI early: Not the same map
Iron Boots early: Doesn't work, unfortunately
Sail skip: Can't open Triforce charts without the Sail
Skip FF1: Hyrule 2 softlocks if you don't do FF1
Iron Boots skip: Two rooms away from the end of the Wind Temple, we reach an IB switch needed to open a barred door
Postman CS skip: It works temporarily, but you can't enter DRC without triggering the cutscene
Fire/Ice Arrows early // Skip balad of gales: Tested and it works...no video yet though

Ganon's Tower Trails Skip. Hover all the way to the ceiling and see if we can go through and land in the loading zone. Once we're through we mash the button we have elixir soup on. I suggest you have it on X or Y.

I have tried this hover glitch many times, I mash the B button as hell but he touches the ground after a few seconds. How fast do you have to mash? Seriously.

I thought you needed the Tingle Tuner to keep you from dying when you land. Is that true?

I know what you mean Marcus. I can't mash anywhere near fast enough so I gave up almost instantly.

It seems that a few people are having trouble with the mashing....

Like Cosmo said you need to tense up your bicep. I vibrate my entire arm, making sure my upper thumb joint is directly over the B button. That method has always worked great for me.

Yeah the problem isn't the PAL version of the game, it's just the PAL players. I'll give aleckermit's method a try.

I use it for the convenience it makes the vids go by faster. it also allows for testing better.
In a normal run i would not use a turbo.

For PAL players, turn the game in 50 Hz. It's easier.

I'm using another technique, use your two thumbs or two index or mid fingers alternatively. (Great for drummers) it's easy to do it this way: you have to concentrate on the regularity and not really on the speed.

When you go outside of the map with the feather and go all the way down (I don't know if it works up), it reappear at the top of the screen and shows another sea map with a strange gap (Forsaken fortress appear on the tower of gods square).
I've been hovering for almost one hour straight from earth island 'til I get out of the map (without a turbo controller :p ) but I didn't reach anything...

Here's an idea... skip the mirror shield battle. Don't know how much time it would save but your health should be really low when entering the battle cause of that poe moblin strat in the previous room. I'll try to make a video.

edit: I can't mash near fast enough to even try this out...

^ I wondered that too Majora MIM. Also, nice mashing method. I've seen it before and tried it with pathetic results. I've been playing a lot of Domination on Mario Party 4 today and I think my mashing speed has gone up though. What speed would a turbo controller mash at? Would it be 60 hits per second since the game runs at 60FPS (afaik)?

I usually hit 110, rarely 120, and to me this hover trick is definitely doable in a speedrun.

That's doable in a speedrun. I've keep the hover for six minutes without pressing pause and I was still getting height.
I can do 140-150 in ten secondes using my two thubs.

Agreed. I hovered for 5 minutes into Forbidden Woods with only a few pauses to rest, not to mention this was after like more than an hour of attempts with tons of hovering. My bicep is pretty sore today from the mass amount of hovering, but for a segmented run or something hovering would be no problem.

As far as using hover in a speedrun goes, what is the fastest way to get your health to 1/4?

EDIT:

I just mashed 12 hits per second 8D

I'm getting between 10-11 hits per second without putting much effort in (so I could mash for a longer amount of time).

Awesome work jiano!

Hey guys I think I found way to skip whole ToG dungeon. From eastern fairy island I hovered all way to the ToG map and there you can get to the top of tower where bell is located. It's on same map than your sea so you just need to hover there and ring bell. Then get to the hyrule and skip whole temple. It took me some time to hover there but I think if it's done faster it will save time. IDK does this have any other weird glitches involved to it. Maybe beat boss later in game and somehow to make portal to hyrule open again. That wai we could skip that triforce collecting quest.

Ok here is some notes. I did this on already beated save file and I ringed bell and it didn't make any sound. So I need to have save there to test it and make video of it. I will play there if anybody other doesn't test this. I hope this skip will turn out to be something. Have fun!! I will make video once I got file in there.

What if we can skip whole bow now? I mean if we get those fire/ice arrow thing then?

Unfortunately, it won't work. The top of ToG when you ring the bell is a different map than it is when you're outside ToG.

Not sure if tingle bomb blows up the rock that is plugging up the water or not.... it might. Also instead of hovering all the way into the doorway, you could just heal on the other side before the bomb-pot statue things of course.

I've found something that may be interesting: I've been able to pause at the second when Link touch the ground after Zombie hovering. (I heard his death noise on the pause screen). Maybe we can save (and restart with 3 hearts) where Link fall (I'm thinking of the Forest haven early without Tingle)

New Puppet Ganon Skip theory that ZFG came up with:

Hover up past Puppet ganon, drop bomb on warp pot at top, die, use pot to warp past puppet ganon to the top.
It's impossible to stay at the middle of the room. Link goes too far while hovering. Plus the platform with the exit to Ganon battle is solid and we can't enter from under. I haven't check if the top of that platform is solid too but there's no way to get there from the bottom of the room.

There is no speed difference of the PAL and NTSC versions in WW even if you play in 50Hz if that's what you mean.

I tried to do the Helmarok skip using the zombie hover on console without turbo. Since Tingle Tuner isn't needed, I figured I might be able to do it since I can do the hover pretty well. However, even though I can gain good height, I can't even come close to getting it done. Anyone else is welcome to try, but this is just a fair warning that it's extremely difficult.

Found by myself.


If going straight through the door frame like in the video doesn't work, try healing and landing after clipping into the skull model. From there there are lots of possibilities (angled jump, more hovering, deku leaf, etc.)

Agreed. Without some sort of healing this will not happen using hovers. Even then it might not be impossible. Landing in the warp dead just leads you back to the entrance of GC.

Update, you can start a Zombie Hover from normal damage, fall damage, and jumpslash fall damage too.

Unfortunately, the window for it seems to be very small.

I got a new idea for Hyrule field barrier skip: When you die beetween the barrier and the wall, the barrier push you out as soon as you stop flashing red.
But what would happen if forest water text appears at that time. Could it allow you to stay behind the barrier like Tetra text does? If it does, we could hover over the invisible wall and get to Ganon's tower early. With trials skip and Zombie hover to Ganondorf (with or without puppet skip) we can finish the game from hyrule 2, so it would skip temples and triforce quest.

I can't test anything now. My exams finish in two days and then I'll be on tww again.

That should be doable with an orb ledge clip off the door. Have fun in the hell that is setting that up, though...

Tried skipping the cutscene inside DRI by going in through the top entrance on Cerpin's request. It works, but inside part of the lower floor is covered by a cutscene trigger, not sure if you can get to the dungeon without setting it off. Regardless this is useless unless delivery bag can be skipped.

I found a way to skip both electric fields. The one to the bridge might be possible on console, the other one is TAS-only due to being hard to pull off. I don't know if the game locks up later on if you skip the fight like this...

That's pretty awesome. in a TAS I think it would be quicker, but for a console run, I think the amount of time you'd need setting it up and getting angles and stuff wouldn't be worth it, not to mention the magic potion.

I'd be surprised if this can even be pulled off on a console at all, even if you take as much time as you want.

I'm pretty sure I can skip having to re-fill my magic. I started out with a little less than a full magic meter, and I used up 3 units as opposed to 2 in one place.

Have you tried playing through to Hyrule 2? I assume it would be okay. I'm 90% sure the enemies would be gone. Then the other scenarios I can think of would be instant freeze, or the electric barriers would still exist and you would be knocked out, or have to repeat the clip to get out again.

I almost (http://i.imgur.com/xvfMJ.png) found a Forbidden Woods BK skip without storage and without tingle. Since it's pretty hopeless from the looks of it, I'll leave it alone now.

Also, tower of the gods BK skip is probably possible and I'll make a video later. But I'm not sure how useful it is since I'm not sure if it saves time. (not possible to clear the room anyway without collecting boss key, right? :/ )

I found the same thing when I tested yesterday. However, something else I found was that if you use the levitate cheat from hanging off it you can clip through the top. can we use a bomb to maybe boost us up through the ceiling in there? maybe needs more testing.

it's not possible to clear the room without collection the boss key, and unless the ledge clip + set-up is quicker than the door opening animation it's probably useless. but It's great that we have one just for the hell of it XD. I love stuff like that.

It's impossible to stay at the middle of the room. Link goes too far while hovering. Plus the platform with the exit to Ganon battle is solid and we can't enter from under. I haven't check if the top of that platform is solid too but there's no way to get there from the bottom of the room.
I know this post is old, but: I thought you could leaf out of a zombie hover. Isn't that how some pots are opened already? So why not leaf back to the pot and throw a bomb on it?

You can technically "pull out" the leaf while hovering, but you can't glide anywhere with it. When you try to pull out the leaf, Link pulls it out over his head and then immediately puts it away without being able to glide at all. Yes, the deku leaf can be used to drop bombs quickly during a hover without losing much height, but again for Puppet Ganon, it wouldn't work.

Pretty sure I saw a YT vid in which someone does skip PG. Unless you guys are talking about making the trick faster/eaasier. Haven't been following this thread exclusively so I wouldn't know  :-\

Only if you're hurt midair but usually the angle change is negligible.

If you had an amazing amount of height, would taking out a bomb and having it explode work? I know the height would be ridiculous for any real tricks, but just a question.

Yes. You can even drop a bomb on the ground and continue to hover low enough against a wall. The angle change depends of the on which angle you get hit.

Dropping bombs with the leaf will allow for slight push backwards, if you're skilled, I think it can be used to travel backwards while gaining height. Huge waste of bombs though, and magic, and you need to be pretty skilled.

Sounds useful. May have to use that if there isn't enough room for a hover by a tiny bit.
