Welcome to the TAS Competition hosted by me.

First off here are some basic rules:

- At 12:00 AM EST at the specified due date (or before then) you are to submit one .m64 and .st to TAScompetition@web.de. Submissions that are late are welcome and in most cases accepted.

- The two files should be compressed and named to "TASCompetitionTask#ByNAME".

Example: TASCompetitionTask1ByMrGrunz

- You must NOT talk strategy or show WIPs or finished products to any other people, even if they don't submit or compete.

- You may NOT co-author with anyone for a given task unless otherwise specified.

- The task will be timed by me. Timing starts at the first frame you walk and ends at the point I set as the end for every competition.

- Any violation of the rules makes you viable for DISQUALIFICATION and possibly further action if necessary.

As this competition will probably have only 1-2 taks, because OoT/MM aren't that cool for competitions, I haven't thought about a scoring system yet.

TASK 1:

Enter the Ikana Grave on Cycle 1 and get the Heart Piece there. Here is a walkthrough video of this level:

Timing starts at the first frame you get control over link after entering the grave and ends at the frame you open the chest. You have to use the items you have in the Save Stat I uploaded, so you MAY NOT use any items that are not in this save file:

You can use as many bombs and bombchus as you feel like.

Note: As some people were not big fans of this goal, you can tell me what you think about it and if you don't like it, we'll choose another one. The point of this goal is to be rather short one to start with and still have a nice space for crazieness.

The TAS community here is kinda non-existent so I might do one to help maybe get interest in it. Whens the due date?

I was wondering the same thing.  I've been really wanting to start zelda TASing, so this will be my first attempt.  Hopefully I won't be too awful... And dammit, I've seen what you can do Jiano.  Your non-TAS entry would destroy mine.  Oh well... Here's to trying!

I've never TASed before, but hell I'll join in.

I'm in, but i need help with something. in the last MM TAS i made, everything worked perfectly, then suddendly link like gone crazy he started to roll around and stuff  :o

i know how to fix that in OoT but i have no idea in MM. please help.

I have the same problem.  I basically have to reload the TAS after every room transition, pause etc so help would be greatly appreciated.

Also, which version of mupen should be used?

My first "real" TAS speedrun of MM, it turned out pretty well.
I'm very motivated for this competition, I hope you will make more ;D

If you're talking about the gap beetween the graves 1 and 2, you can jump onto the biggest stalactit and continue to the other side.

If you're talking about the gap of the invisible room, I think there's no other way than bomb...

Invisible room?..

The room with the invisible Keese and Skulltulas on the way to the Piece of Heart. Half the walkway is also invisible.

and yeah, I said enter at day 1 and meant day 1. Getting past the gap is another nice place where people show how creative they can get.

Well for my case, I usually submit just before the due date in case I found some improvements during the week.

I wanna take part, but I'm terrible at TASing and I haven't had much time lately. If you're going to decide when the deadline is can you give us 24 hours notice or something like that?

I mean, if you really wanted pokey, bobmario and some other people to take part then they should have been warned earlier, now it's too late, they can just take part of it for the next task.

MrGrunz was super nice and gave me 3 hours to do this TAS. I'm not that good at TASing MM but I think it looks ok for me.

Sorry I didn't participate. The TWW craze lately was consuming all of my zelda time. Also every time I went to start the TAS I thought I'd rather be playing the game. Maybe I'll enter the next one.

IMO OoT goal: beat dodongo's cavern as adult
