Title: Any% Segmented route : Test run incompleted: uploading my segments.
Post by: Greenalink on January 07, 2010, 11:30:59 PM
I'm starting to playthrough the game for the second time and now I'm making a segmented WIP plan.

I couldn't remember everything before the first temple so here is the list so far:

Notable rupee pickups:
2 x 100 rupee chests at Wooded Temple (Obtained in Segment 6)
1 x 100 rupee chest at Bridge Worker's house outside.
Palace Dish/ Ancient Coin/ Goron Amber obtained at Tower of Spirits 3, 500 rupees.

Prices to pay:
* 500 Rupees for a bomb bag
* 25 Rupees for Mega Ice

Segment 1: Start -> Zelda's Secret Meeting

Segment 2: Zelda's Escape -> Pipes -> Sword -> Cave to Tower of Spirits Entrance

Segment 3: Cave to Tower of Spirits -> Inside Tower of Spirits

Segment 4: Tower of Spirits 1 -> Forest Glyph

Segment 5: Lost Woods -> Forest Sanct. -> Wooded Temple

Segment 6: Wooded Temple -> Key from Whirlind Puzzle (there is a lenghty detour so a save warp isn't a bad idea despite the lengthy saving time).

Segment 7: Wooded Temple pt2 -> Wooded Temple boss defeated and heart container -> Tower of Spirits 2

Optional Segment (After the boss fight, save warp and train ride to Tower of Spirits).

Segment 8: Tower of Spirits 2 -> Snow Glyph -> Hyrule Town

Segment 9: Hyrule Castle -> Outset Village -> Snow Land -> Anouki village

Segment 10: Song of Discovery -> Anouki Puzzle -> Long tunnel -> Snow Sanctuary-> Ferrus (man himself and blow the entire map as it triggers  a correct route to the temple)..

Segment 11: Reach to Blizzard temple

Segment 12: Clear Blizzard Temple (yep the entire thing in 1 segment, pretty hard).

Segment 13: Train Ride to Tower of Spirits (yes the death trains usually take different routes).

Segment 14: Spirit Tower 3 (The big chests that contain expensive treasures are random, like Goron Amber or Palace dish).

Segment 15:  Train Ride to Trading Post, speaking to Linebeck III

Segment 16: Train Ride to Bridge Worker's house (might require a slower gear as the Death trains take cheap routes which is fustrating for speed running), get help, train ride back to Trading Post -> All of  the conversations before the Trading Post cave.

Segment 17: The case of the Regal Ring -> Sell expensive treasure obtained from Spirit 3 -> Go on train

Segment 18: Manipulate Beedle's starting point for bombs -> Island Sanctuary (optional save) -> Puzzle -> Papuzia Village -> Song of BIRDS!!! -Save.

[Optional Segment : Puzzle -> Papuzia Village -> Song of BIRDS!!! -Save.]

Segment 19: Train Hijack -> Song of Restoration

Segment 20: Puzzle to underwater and long route skip to enter Marine Temple.

Segment 21: Marine Temple (Entire stage), optional save after getting the last small key.

[Optional segment] Open Key door -> Boss key-> Cactops -> Save

Segment 22: Train Ride to Tower of Spirit

Segment 23: Tower of Spirits 4 (Takes over 14 minutes optimised) -> Goron City.

Segment 24: Kagoron -> Train Cart ->  Anouki Village -> Transport -> Ice Springs, Save

Segment 25: Mega Ice -> Clear Volcano fountain -> Goron Elder's House

Segment 26: Cave to Valley Sanctuary -> Valley  Sanctuary ->  Song of Restoration. -> Exit Goron Elder's House -> Hop on Train and make a dummy route to save the game (so that when you load up, you are already on the train).

Segment 27: The 3 Keys.... (I've made a route, it does require good amount of luck on the last 2 keys).

Segment 28: Mountain Temple -> Hit Crystal Switch to drop rock platform -> Get a key from the chest.

Segment 29: Mountain Temple: Get the Key from the right half of the room. Save warp.

Segment 30: Mountain Temple: Bow & Arrows -> Boss Portal (Perform a 2-1-4-3 switch in 1 lap).

Segment 31: Mountain Temple Boss Battle Vulcano (This boss doesn't have a HP count but a Hit count instead) -> Tower of Spirits.

Segment 32: Tower of Spirits 5 (around 17 minutes long if optimised). Exit and re-enter sector 5 to restock on Bombs, 10 will be nice. Save before the big 2 doors, right after the boss key door.

Segment 33: Staven -> Cutscene -> Dune Sanctuary (optional save) -> Song of Restoration -> Exit Sanctuary -> Save

Segment 34: The 3 Trials

Segment 35: Desert Temple Part 1 -> Save after the small key obtained from the Stalfos.

Segment 36: Desert Temple Part 2: Save warp after collecting the Sand Wand.

Segment 37: Desert Temple Part 3: Activate Boss Portal

Segment 38: Desert Temple Part 4: Boss battle against Capbone -> Save warp after getting the Bow of Light

Segment 39: Travel to Tower of Spirits. Go to Sector 5 if you want to restock bombs. Use the warp panel and save the game. This should let Link continue in the room before Staven's arena.

Segment 40: Tower of Spirits 6!!

Segment 41: Travel to Dark Realm (a pretty lengthy ride before a luck based section :/ ).

Segment 42: 'Pac Man' battle (Fingers corss for a good route) -> Train Battle

Segment 43: Mallabus Zelda -> Defend Zelda -> A mystical song -> Final Battle.
------------------------------------

That's it for now. Dying from bombs makes it easier for me to test save warps but without it it's only one shot (without emulation save stating support & if you like to keep a main file on the first slot).

Notes: On Segment 25 you could ask the 'Anouki Goron' to take a lift on your train by the time you clear Mountain Temple (segment 31), the NPC should be in your train. Doing 5 sloppy mistakes should warp you back to Goron Village.

One other test to see if the South gate in Forest Land (given via Force gem from a Lokomo) has a use after Tower 6.

Result: It's faster not to activate (and use) the South Warp gate from the Forest Realm as it saves around 1 minute and 25 seconds.

You're getting the 100R chests in the 1st dungeon?  If you're planning on using them for the bomb bag, I already said in the thread it would be better to get the palace dish on the 3rd trip to ToS after the battle before the ocean rail map then sell it to linebeck and save reset manipulate beetle to be right in front of the ocean realm.

After seeing ferrus for the route to the snow temple, savewarp to warp back to wellspring station.

I've probably skim read the entire thread, missing some cool info from you lot.
But Beedle being able to be manipulated on where he starts sounds great for a start, he would ruin some runs without know manipulation. Until I'll do Spirit 3 there might not be any useful spots for Bombs after the Snow Temple.

The next test is to see during the Death Train introduction (after Wooded Temple) is to see if their routes are fixed or not (manipulation to avoid taking a longer route).

Result: Resetting the game can manipulate where they are going. In the run (Segment 7) I could risk and try Wooded Temple part 2 -> Tower of Spirits..

There is some luck involved on the first floor in TOS second room. The faster run is when the right Phantom Guard walks over the lava (to the left), if he is going down then reset because there isn't a speedy way to get around him undetected and there is a small problem around the left most Tears of Light gem.

The Anouki Goron only appears after clearing the Fire Temple so the 'insult warp' idea is useless. It can't be done before the Mega Ice because you need to go to Anouki Village to meet that certain Anouki. At the same time the Goron would get off the Spirit Train. For some unknown reason I couldn't find the Goron after using the Mega Ice and he will only appear until you clear the Fire/Mountain temple.

Title: Re: Any% Segmented route GOING TO PRODUCE THE RUN VERY SOON ;)

OK after 2.5 playthroughs, I am confident about producing a speed run.
Unlike Phantom Hourglass I won't upload the segment as soon as I complete it mainly because this game is slightly harder and without a Firewire cable I have to rip them from my DVD-RWs and upload them that way :(.

I won't be telling you exactly where I am when speed running so I made up some sagas for the run.

Introduction Saga
Segments 1 -4

Forest Land - Wooded Saga
Segments 5-8

Snow Land - Blizzard Saga
Segments 9-14

Ocean Land - Marine Saga
Segments 15-23

Fire Land - Mountain Saga
Segments 24 -32

Ocean Land - Desert Saga
Segments 33-39

Last encounters - Malladus Saga
Segments 40-43.

I'll start to upload the segments when I clear Tower of Spirits 6.

Hi! I just going to ask is there any good way to record video from your ds console without any cams? Because my cam suck at recording close. It would be great it there is way to buy some recording device or make that kind of one by yourself solder some wires in the ds console. If somebody knows anything about it I like to hear it :)

Oh and btw. I like to know what are max upgrades on those items? Like bombs and arrows? I have bomb bag holding 30 bombs and guiver holding 50 arrows. is there any bigger guiver or bomb bag in game or do I have 100% upgrades? Thanks for help!

I've seen some models being modded by soldering but unfortunately there isn't any instructions on making one :(.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jRmHophHvJs (USB DS capture device)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OMezPfk8Zq4 (Pokémon Diamond Demo played on real DS via Capture device)
http://d.imagehost.org/0897/dscap_setup.jpg (Here is a setup of the device)

I do not have any experience on using internal/external capture cards so I would rather have an Composite cable connected then record it by using a DVD recorder.

When I read that I thought it would be almost impossible to record good video quality from ds :/
I need to stick with my cam then.

I'm absolutely waiting for this segmented run. Keep going Greenalink!

I've finished the first 4 segments of the run

With a rough timing of: 19:58 seconds. (Around 20 minutes depending on how you time segments that start off with text straight away).

New update:
I've cleared the Forest Realm/Land segments. With a time of roughly 50 minutes of gameplay.
* The Snow saga will have some easy segments but some are pretty lengthy.

Uploading my incompleted run. Until the 3DS add on is out, I will have no intention of producing any DS Zelda runs.

So has anybody completed a run, or has estimated a final time goal? I just added up the segments of greenalink's test run and it goes up to 74 minutes I think, so I'm guessing the entire run is probably like 4 or 5 hours. Does that sound about right?

:o <-- Holy crap I haven't seen this emoticon in years! Amazing! It's like it reflects my reaction to it!
