I've been trying it for a few days now, and I can manage to get Ocarina Items, and I do the rest of the set-up (with the deku nut) but it doesn't work. Not sure why it isn't working, either. What is happening? If you're soft-locking you're doing it right but you "watched the wrong cutscene" last. If your timing is wrong you're ending up either in the proper next cutscene or deku tree and I can't help you.
