Title: why does the storm happen after leaving forest haven?
Post by: Cosmo on June 21, 2013, 08:18:22 AM
in new any% route this kinda random storm seems to happen RIGHT as I'm aiming my superswim to greatfish. it makes it impossible to see, which makes me lose my runs. I don't know the actual cause of the storm. I was wondering if anybody knew why the storm happens.

Does it have to do with being in some sort of radius of the Cyclone? idk just guessing :P

cosmo if you can tell me how to get into the boat after the SS from birds peak to forest haven then I will personally wait for someone else to tell you why the storm happens :)

being in proximity of the cyclone causes a weather change, but it is unrelated to the storm I am talking about

That storm is part of the natural weather patterns of the sea.  When Link is in an area of the sea where time passes (away from large islands), he'll encounter 2 or 3 storms in a single day/night cycle.  These storms vary both in severity (light rain to thunderstorm) and duration (15 seconds to 40 seconds).  Unfortunately, these storms don't appear to follow a recognizable pattern within each day/night cycle nor the 7 phases of the lunar cycle.  If Link is consistently hitting a storm in a bad time and place, it might be that (even with real time fluctuations) the run is consistent enough in its day/night game time to hit that same storm, which for better or worse, means the storm's not entirely random.

i wonder if savewarping on N.Triangle is worth it to reset the weather. feels like a waste though.

Savewarping on Greatfish before superswimming to Windfall drastically reduces the chances of the "fade-out".  If savewarping on N. Triangle accomplishes the same, it may be worth the time of savewarping to knock out both problems (weather and fade-out).

I don't think it accomplishes the same because when Cosmo was practicing using a save on N. Triangle, he still got the fadeout.
