Title: Any% Discussion Post by: Nook on September 24, 2012, 12:00:25 AM Discuss routes, times, and tricks. To clarify this is without NG+
Title: Re: Any% Discussion Post by: gamestabled on September 24, 2012, 12:43:11 AM WR is 52:27 by BenStephens1000 still. Easily beatable I would say. (No offense Ben, you know what I mean xD)
Route is pretty much any% ng+ up to magic, except you get kokiri sword and tsc escape. After magic, savewarp, dive to river, king zora skip, farores, save warp, leave woods through goron city, leave/reenter to place fw dmt->goron city, kill dodongo, save, and pray to the lords you get RI fwww first try. Tricks: Escape to Fairy Ocarina Hellfire Skip AquaEscape King Zora Skip RI FWWW General Optimization gl hf Title: Re: Any% Discussion Post by: benstephens1000 on September 24, 2012, 01:48:23 AM Yeah pretty much all GS said. This category is almost exactly the same as NG+ except you TSC escape, don't have to get sticks, and have to savewarp twice to get FW. I'm guessing the only reason people don't run it is because of the RIWW at the end :P
Anyways my run is a complete joke and someone should beat it :P Title: Re: Any% Discussion Post by: Nook on September 24, 2012, 02:40:50 AM There is 1 Deku Stick picked up for lighting the city and dungeon torches. General optimization includes as many superslides as you can, after obtaining bombs there are many opportunities to do so.
Title: Re: Any% Discussion Post by: Pedalpowertoast on September 24, 2012, 09:53:54 AM FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK I missed the warp once >:( Well to be honest it was my first time trying to do RI warps from child dungeons. Pretty much everything was good. I did lose time on forest escape (10 sec) no HESSes (20 sec) no water HESS in zoras fountain (missed it twice then gave up, 30 sec) missed first FW WW (2 min?) and the final time......*drum roll* 46:48 :) so sub 44:30 should be possible with luck and skills. Ben's WRs are gonna fall soon ;)
Title: Re: Any% Discussion Post by: benstephens1000 on September 24, 2012, 10:25:42 AM I feel that this is the first real run of this category. So guys looks like this is the time to beat.
Title: Re: Any% Discussion Post by: benstephens1000 on October 01, 2012, 07:12:04 AM 46:22 :P
I missed the first WW then I accidentally switched items going for the second and I accidentally switched bombs to the letter so I stood there "practicing" RI for like a minute not realizing I couldn't RI with the letter. General movements were bad. I think 42, 43 will be a pretty optimal time. Title: Re: Any% Discussion Post by: Pedalpowertoast on October 02, 2012, 12:59:57 PM Many many mistakes, but got 45:40 (im going to improve it later)
I also found a very risky timesaver with guards. Sometimes one of the guards in the last area is behind the statue. With backwalking and a well timed backflip you can get past him. Skips waiting the other guard. This one is random, because the guard patterns are always different. Title: Re: Any% Discussion Post by: benstephens1000 on October 03, 2012, 08:30:36 AM Accidentally died after coming back from Saria today... realized that death warping would be a little faster here :P
Title: Re: Any% Discussion Post by: Pedalpowertoast on October 03, 2012, 01:50:17 PM Accidentally died after coming back from Saria today... realized that death warping would be a little faster here :P Old :P mentioned this in IRC a while ago, sorry...BTW why did you suddenly start running any%? (WR hog?)Title: Re: Any% Discussion Post by: gamestabled on November 24, 2012, 11:49:51 PM http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HySksHBE8To&feature=g-u-u
Useful for any run thats no ng+ I guess Title: Re: Any% Discussion Post by: mzxrules on November 25, 2012, 12:23:21 AM I wouldn't have thought that would have been faster.
Title: Re: Any% Discussion Post by: DropDead on January 22, 2013, 04:18:08 PM I was thinking that you do the NG+ Category however you get the sword and before presenting the letter to go through the gate you enter bottom of the well via TSC and Cucco there you can get Bombchus and continue to get Saria song. Then TSC to navi dive into Zora river and get into Zoras Domain. TSC to get Farore's Love and then return and finish DC
Title: Re: Any% Discussion Post by: Pedalpowertoast on January 22, 2013, 04:49:43 PM One problem...we can't get the fucking bombchus without bombs. If we could, it would save a few minutes.
Title: Re: Any% Discussion Post by: flameringer0629 on January 22, 2013, 06:27:49 PM Also if you had bombchus why get saria's song?
Title: Re: Any% Discussion Post by: DropDead on January 23, 2013, 01:40:29 PM Also if you had bombchus why get saria's song? Saria Song could be a reassurant its not really neededTitle: Re: Any% Discussion Post by: Slowking on January 24, 2013, 11:43:43 AM So is there any video of any any% run?
Btw. the only thing that is keeping you from using Ganondoor in any% is that only Bomb IO works in this version, correct? Title: Re: Any% Discussion Post by: Pedalpowertoast on January 24, 2013, 12:23:34 PM Heres a VERY dirty run (casual and i failed the warp at the end) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ttsncTJKk6c. The problem with Ganondoor is that IIRC the warp doesnt work, it crashes. You can still use bomb OI on the warp though.
Title: Re: Any% Discussion Post by: benstephens1000 on January 24, 2013, 02:21:47 PM Ideally what ganondoor would be useful for would be any% NG+ with Ocarina because we wouldn't have to OI to delay the blue warp. Unfortunately the game crashed because in the 3D version of this game, Deku, DC, Jabu (impossible anyways), and fire warps can only warp you directly into a cut scene and the values for ganondoor just don't work.

The problem with Ganondoor is that IIRC the warp doesnt work, it crashes. You can still use bomb OI on the warp though. Nice to at least see somebody do the route. Why is there nobody running this?Btw. does keeping the switch at the end of DC down with navi not work on 3DS? Ideally what ganondoor would be useful for would be any% NG+ with Ocarina because we wouldn't have to OI to delay the blue warp. Unfortunately the game crashed because in the 3D version of this game, Deku, DC, Jabu (impossible anyways), and fire warps can only warp you directly into a cut scene and the values for ganondoor just don't work. Has this been tested in detail? Maybe you just have to watch different curscenes beforehand to make it not crash...Well guess we'll have to revisit this in a view years when we have ram-watch. Title: Re: Any% Discussion Post by: benstephens1000 on January 25, 2013, 06:31:30 AM I mean I'm no genie at this game but I think at one point I heard something about how their were 2 kinds of places you could warp to. One had values for a CS and the other did not. The blue warps mentioned before all try to take you to areas with CS values. However the values you have aren't CS values so shit gets screwed up. DH WW on the other other hand is able to take you to both kinds of values I believe.
Title: Re: Any% Discussion Post by: Slowking on January 25, 2013, 08:38:03 AM That doesn't sound right. Ofcourse I only know how normal OoT works (and even there just the basics) but it wouldn't make sense to add something this convoluted to OoT 3D when the simple version worked just fine.
Title: Re: Any% Discussion Post by: benstephens1000 on January 25, 2013, 09:59:53 AM That doesn't sound right. Ofcourse I only know how normal OoT works (and even there just the basics) but it wouldn't make sense to add something this convoluted to OoT 3D when the simple version worked just fine. My explanation is probably wrong. However I do know that only those blue warps can only warp directly into a CS. Also Grezzo was pretty dumb with this game and changed some really stupid shit, so who knows.Title: Re: Any% Discussion Post by: DropDead on January 29, 2013, 12:45:45 PM Talking about the Ganon thing, a couple of problems arise. 1. No bottle ocarina so have fun getting in the blue warp. 2. Getting Farores wind would be more optimal to finish DC because Deku entry requires an equiped sword and shield(If doing NG+). 3. If you some how NG+ strategy gets to Ganondorf, your gonna need to have a ton of Deku sticks or the sword ready because there is no ISG unless you plan on doing YOLO strats to get it. So even if the skip is possible, I doubt it would be better than the strategy we have now.
Title: Re: Any% Discussion Post by: gamestabled on January 29, 2013, 08:12:52 PM 1. Ocarina items can be done if you have bombs with a different method
2. You can get to deku w/out sword and shield by getting zelda's lullaby 3. I'm assuming you mean ganon instead of ganondorf, and anyway even if ganondoor worked, I think with current known glitches it could not be faster than the current any% route with or without ng+ Title: Re: Any% Discussion Post by: flameringer0629 on January 29, 2013, 10:03:32 PM Yeah and even if you mean Ganon you can still beat him with one stick. (Via broken deku stick glitch.)
Title: Re: Any% Discussion Post by: DropDead on January 30, 2013, 01:56:22 PM I knew about the bomb ocarina but that would mean having to get bombs which would be a waste to not finish the DC afterwards and true the broken stick works but I was thinking since his tail flails all over, it would be hard to get 1 deku to break and remain in your hands. Also can you explain how getting Zeldas lullaby would get you through. Or is it that when you get it the guards no longer block the entrences. Still all these variables seem to be longer than the current any%. Now dont get me wrong I dont run any%(I do NG+) but with my backround knowledge I just think that doing these tricks aren't big enough time savers to make the Ganondorf faster(IF it was possible)
Title: Re: Any% Discussion Post by: benstephens1000 on January 31, 2013, 02:02:32 AM Lol you guys are totally misinterpretating what I said the other day. What I meant was, if ganondoor was going to be useful anywhere, it'd be in a NG+ ocarina run. Yes you'd have to get lullaby, which would be slow, but you would not have to get bottle like in oot any%. With this there's be no need for bottles, bombs, any of that stuff. Just a shield, sticks, lullaby, and nuts.
Title: Re: Any% Discussion Post by: DropDead on January 31, 2013, 07:48:10 PM I never thought of that. That seems really easy however you would have to pick up the sword and still get enough sticks to defeat him.
Title: Re: Any% Discussion Post by: benstephens1000 on January 31, 2013, 09:29:41 PM NNNNeedWell you wouldn't have to pick up the sword (although you could) and you would only need 2 deku sticks if you broke it right, which I doubt would be too hard... However, ganondoor is impossible so none of this even matter :P
Title: Re: Any% Discussion Post by: DropDead on February 07, 2013, 06:37:56 PM Random question, I've heard this before however I would like to know speciefically (why or if) the Master Quest version is faster in any of the categories.
Title: Re: Any% Discussion Post by: benstephens1000 on February 07, 2013, 09:58:48 PM Random question, I've heard this before however I would like to know speciefically (why or if) the Master Quest version is faster in any of the categories. one this ought to be in the Q&A thread, but no matter. Anyways, there was a time when MQ MST was faster but I have no idea whether or not that was due to the route... I think any% may actually have the potential to be faster, and I guess any% NG+ would have to be faster with early bombs, or perhaps bombs that route would get Jabu chus and just NG+ MS. Honestly not many routes have been figured out for MQ :PTitle: Re: Any% Discussion Post by: TheWayfaringFox on February 21, 2013, 09:13:32 AM one this ought to be in the Q&A thread, but no matter. Honestly not many routes have been figured out for MQ :P Master Quest is still faster for MST NG+. The tricks that I found definitely make it faster for the category, it's just that nobody has ran it at all since it is not on the leaderboards. Title: Re: Any% Discussion Post by: Multisnivy on February 21, 2013, 03:30:01 PM i ran it and got a 37:01...
Title: Re: Any% Discussion Post by: TheWayfaringFox on February 21, 2013, 09:20:20 PM You probably did the wrong category or something. What category did you do?
Title: Re: Any% Discussion Post by: Multisnivy on February 21, 2013, 10:03:51 PM i did ng+ MQ
