Title: finding TSA's 5:25 and 5:04 runs.
Post by: DLH112 on September 19, 2012, 08:33:52 PM
For historical stuff these two runs are important, but have seemingly disappeared from the internet. The 4:57 video is widely available though. I just so happened to have some VCDs of most of the adult section of the 5:04, but they're so old that some of the sectors of the disc are unreadable. If anyone happens to have the 5:25, or the 5:04 child section / a higher quality, or anything relavent, it would be amazing.

I have the entirety of TSA's 5:04 and 5:25 runs. If you can get on IRC or something, I can send them to you.

This is actually mostly to help Cosmo if he does the history of OoT speedrunning video idea he's had for a while. If you could upload the video somewhere/make it publically available, it would be much appreciated, but I don't need the videos personally.

It will take a while to upload, so I will add the parts as I get them uploaded by editing this post:

Keep in mind that the splits were not done by me; it was how I downloaded them.

Is mediafire the only site to get these off of? I unfortunately only have iPhone Internet and I can't view these :( sad days lol

Just so you're aware of why TSA's runs can no longer be found on archive: http://forum.speeddemosarchive.com/post/weve_removed_tsas_runs_from_the_site.html

I don't know if this affects whether you would include his runs in a history video.

All of the parts of both the 5:25 and the 5:04 have been uploaded in my post above. Enjoy!

This splice (if it is one) has probably already been found, but I am gonna mention it anyways. I just downloaded the 5:25 run and the end of part 8 and beginning of part 9 seems spliced. The Hyrule Field theme skips a part when going from Lake Hylia to Hyrule.

TSA basically stated he had to pause his run, so he could record a new segment, because he couldn't record very long game footage in one sitting. What I find odd is that all the splices seem to be right at loading zones. During loading zones you can't pause, and Link's immediate movement after the loading zone is an indicator for me he didn't pause after the new zone has loaded.

Has TSA's 4:57 run also been confirmed to be spliced, and if so, where exactly?

I don't think it's a bad idea to still include TSA's runs/achievements in the video. A lot of people got interested in speedrunning OoT because of TSA (his 4:57 was the first run I have seen of OoT and it got me pretty interested). Even when his OoT runs aren't legit, they do have some pretty good tactics and tricks that no one was aware of before.

no. the music sometimes skips when going from lake hylia to hyrule field during the white screen part (it sorta restarts). that can be replicated since i've got that effect a few times.
that little specific instance is not indicative of splicing (and it is way too obvious lol)

Quite a large bump, but I have uploaded TSA's runs to YouTube (split into three parts each; two hour limit bah):

5h04m:
- Part 1: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4rq2xdJWGLs
- Part 2: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TWoeA1jAJq8
- Part 3: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sd5-4fC5WQM

5h25m:
- Part 1: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W7lgJvqhnug . Youtube sucks and randomly makes it not work, so here are the sub-parts:
>>> Subpart 1: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R6aunYnlXxc
>>> Subpart 2: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zS5cLgPJRKI
>>> Subpart 3: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oKDtWjSgUaY
>>> Subpart 4: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8QvxaLwobSc
>>> Subpart 5: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gM01JjbAAqc
- Part 2: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=efnumyVTXNo
- Part 3: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yytOKDy6ti0

Once again, the splits between the three parts of each are how they were originally split up when they were on SDA.

Would anyone have downloaded and kept Mitjitsu/AKA's 4:40-ish run described here and on the following pages: https://forum.speeddemosarchive.com/post/ocarina_of_time__sub3_hours__page_1_details571.html ?

It was uploaded to FileFront, but soon after FF went bankrupt and made a very half-hearted effort at backing up their servers, followed by the company that bought FF out just deciding to throw them all out and start afresh.

This would have been the OoT WR in 2006.
