I said this in the irc today: THIS IS TOO FUCKING FAST! I know its a speedrun but honestly! We have made this game into a veritable ALttP!

I'm not sure how.  The entire game is done as a child.   ;D

has there been an easy consistent setup for the wrong warp to ganon's castle yet? I want to try this out, but really don't wanna have to worry about stupid frame perfect tricks

Yep, Mp16 has a set up guide here which is fairly simple to follow: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9njm8DdZQ1w

Anyone have any guesses on how long it will be before a sub 20 run happens?

I sincerely hope this gets banned from SDA timing and the majority of speedruns. It completely removes allmost all the skill from speedrunning this game.

that's what separate categories are for.

the categories that restricted stuff like RBA just need to be updated to restrict this.

This laughs at Team Ganonless, to be sure.

Hmm, wonder how possible 20 min is.
From what I seen he only made a 30 sec mistake at most.
I could see a 21 min with perfection.

I'm waiting for a TAS with this new skip. The day it is finished a new slightly faster warp will be found, somehow.

I could see a 21 min with perfection.
- Zora River shortcut positioning
- cucco gathering
- warp portal positioning
- Gohma/Stalfos/Ganon battles
- burning web not needed (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PAl3Vj8J04M)

The above that can be improved should total more than 30 seconds to save.

After you've loaded the web once, that doesn't work and since you need to go down twice, you simply have to burn the web. Unless you do the skulltula clip of course which requires pretty much TAS-perfection if you jump from the top. It might be feasible for a 20 minute run, but still is stupifyingly hard for almost no gain at all (if at all).

Yeah, I mean for a TAS. Though I didn't know that.

30 sec...not 2 1/2 min...
I heard him say that the web won't work...

I know he can jump on the chest and climb up the vines to save 4 sec or so someone said.

Watching it now.

edit: he made a lot of mistakes but also had impressive skills...with perfection you could get 22 easy.

I would separate this as child ending, I'd like to see an adult ending using this trick, just for fun. (random route)

can you pause buffer the skullltula clip? might be able to do it non tas that way

Im sure that you can. The skulltula clip, if i understand correctly, is only TAS only if you are falling from the top (I've done it before from about midway up). If your going to pause buffer the fall it will take longer than just burning the web.

With a little more perfection it can be under 22 min but I think that's the limit. The only way to get it down further is to find a better warp or to find a way to skip a cut scene.

I really want to make a TAS using this, but that might not happen because it is hard to find time for it. However there is still a chance that I will make one.

I think 21:50 might be the absolute limit unless if cut scenes can be skipped.

Title: Re: OOT has been beaten under 22 min
Post by: Jeville on April 28, 2012, 11:07:58 PM
21:4X is definitely possible. So he was slower in a total of 5.1 seconds in a couple parts, bringing that 21:56 to almost 21:50 that was possible, plus if not for a few human errors that could then bring it even lower to 21:4X.

Title: Re: OOT has been beaten under 22 min
Post by: ZFG on April 29, 2012, 01:53:37 AM
21:4x is definitely possible, but that doesn't exactly mean it's reasonable.  For now I'm aiming for 21:52 or lower.

Title: Re: OOT has been beaten under 22 min
Post by: Jeville on April 29, 2012, 02:26:31 AM
Yeah, I was just saying no new glitches would be necessary to bring it that low. You did great, and good luck.

Title: Re: OOT has been beaten under 22 min

He proved it was possible.

Watching it now.

edit: truly perfection. Other then faster equipping/quicker reaction..this route can not be be done any faster using the same method.
The only way to beat it otherwise is do the warp without pause buffer...or find a new glitch.

I've never heard of this guy, but he doesnt pause buffer the warp, and now he has a 21:44. He says he's not satisfied.

I bet it's that Cosmo/ZFG guy who just felt like creating a new username.

Seriously though, it's pretty cool for him to just kinda go about his business but at the same time keeping up with all the faster deku tree strats.

I'm really glad this happened. It's very cool that someone so far removed from the scene can swing by and get a WR. It's a testament to how well-documented all the tricks are.

Lolololololololololololololol. NO. Only OoT tricks are kept track of on the site these days.
