Title: Pause Buffering
Post by: Valientlink on August 14, 2013, 10:15:14 AM
I'm having issues with this lately. It's strange considering I was pretty decent at it when I sucked at most tricks that required it. I've heard N64's is worse but I know there must be something I'm doing wrong. I'll get trolled by vine clip because I can't buffer the A input, or the 1 frame of down. I'll constantly buffer too many frames. I choked on a bingo earlier due to the immense unpause lag caused by Talon being outside the courtyard, thus using too many of the chus that I needed. Is there supposed to be some miracle pause buffer method, or should I just switch to Gamecube/VC?

it's more difficult when there is more unpause lag (you need better timing to advance 1 frame as you wait longer)

there's no miracle method. just practice + timing. remember that you can always pause early, but if you pause late it can advance too many frames, so you can 'play it safe' by intentionally being a bit cautious on the length of the repause

afaik:

VC has by far the easiest buffering
GCN is pretty good (it's been awhile so I cannot remember how good)
N64 is harder, especially in laggy areas
iQue is horrible always
Emulator is usually pretty bad as well

what's funny about this is that ESS is the complete opposite. ESS is easy on ique/n64, hard on VC/gcn

Damn, so each version has something screwy. I feel like being cautious is why I screw it up. I'll practice it, thanks for the info.
