OoT / MQ Trick Research & Discovery Thread
« on: August 31, 2009, 03:23:25 AM »

I'm bookmarking this 1st post for cataloguing purposes as well as introducing and creating the topic. This thread is for posting ideas for new tricks, or potential areas of study in developing new tricks. This also includes such things as assessing possible areas where if a trick was found, time could be saved. Thus, new route development, and alternate tricks/strategies are also a fundamental part of the thread's purpose. All zelda scientists welcome! Educated trick questions, explanations, and route queries are also encouraged.

Not sure if anti gravity glitch would work in ToT for hover boots skip what anybody else think

RBA stands for Rare Bird Adventure. We call it that because we need to get the blue cucco in order to use it.

i'm not 100% on how that works but we need like a ceiling sloping downwards at a certain angle.

"seamwalking" on the edge doesn't work either, the wall will eject link no matter what. so basically, I'm not sure what we could do. I did mess around in there for like an hour thinking of ideas but your inventory is extremely limited at this point and i'm just not seeing it. the best we got is that oob but from there only the hover boost seems to be viable

We need a way to get chus from gerudo training ground without explosives.  I was thinking about it today and it could save a good amount of time in MST SS and make the route a lot more interesting.  Its 2 key doors to the right in the main room.  You can get 2 keys but you need to use 1 key to the left to get the 2nd key.  Also if its possible to somehow clear the first room to the right without explosives (theres a beamos there) then the SoT blocks in the sea of fire room will be there and you can just climb up those to get to the chus.

On one frame you will clip back in bounds and on the next you won't land on the ground, just fall oob.

You do know the superslide would be easy as crap with ISG so you wont fly off. So if we do a weird slide ESS it would help using ISG.

Apparently ISG doesn't let you clip through at all, but that was with a mega sidehop, not sure about an ess.

You can clip through with a Superslide even with ISG on. Pretty sure the megaflip/megasidehop only clip through if you hit the corner while in the air, so if it's possible to land oob it'll be frame perfect.

I have a theory:

In the Gerudo Training Grounds in the treasure room with all the chains, it is apparent that nintendo has crappy programming once again. Maybe you can hookshot clip through chains.

What became of that gerudo training ground chus? I remember I couldn't kill the damn beamos when I tried shit back in the day.

The idea would be that if the camera is too far away from the fishing guy and detached, that it will make the text not come up...

Lol that's why I said a "New" method, aka one where you can just detach the camera without using that method. A camera detachment method so that it mmight think we are somewhere else in the room etc.

Minuet Skip (ISG + 1 Bomb) & Advanced Hover techniques (AKA double bomb Kokiri boots, and Sideflip hover with bombs).

Also unfortunately the route idea I had about using Light Arrow B with MSCS to skip forest cutscene, Minuet Skip, unreal's prelude skip, skipping Medallions RBAs (doing it up till songs), Skipping Light Arrow Cutscene, and finding a new Early Ganon was a failure.

It all came down to not needing ISG or Hoverboots... the idea was that maybe having a bottle in the light arrow spot would trigger the cutscene. Kinda like how having a bottle in the bombs slot gives us bomb drops. That way we could simply RBA a bottle to the Light Arrow spot, and walk across the bridge to ganon's castle. TOO BAD IT DOESNT WORK :S The trigger for the Rainbow Bridge is this: Light Arrows (Has to be Light Arrows) in the Light Arrows Spot (Specifically) AND Spirit and Shadow Medallions. Lame.

Some more possible things would be to be able to grab Ruto's bottle without dive animation, escape forest through Zora's river warp, and to skip rocks at entrance to Zora's river.

Acryte - Load Bypass (Ocarina Method)
This trick so far can only be done using the run fast cheat to move myself, but if there was some way we could like... ESS or something and be able to move/slide with the ocarina out... we could bypass graphic loads. This could serve quite useful, as it could potentially mean no hoverboots reverse DoT skip, or who knows what... All I know is, it's good to know. Now lets go find out how to pull this shit off without a slippery slope lol (keep in mind we all know slippery slopes can allow us to move during Ocarina playing, so it may be possible somehow to slide during our Ocarina crap :S)

yea that's a pretty old one. I think it was on JayTheHam (Zelda Chaos) for a long long time. But I got 2 new vids. Apparently we can use Down A for Collection Delay. Pretty cool. Of course, we have yet to find a use for Collection Delay but who knows... it may lead to something. I had an idea for stacking the seed bag upgrades I was supposed to receive so that I received multiple at once, but it didn't work because the way the camera pivots after the 1st time, it doesnt reset and then it pivots again but this time it makes the scrub go in the wrong direction and he falls off the stump. Anyways funny shit, but no 2nd bag, and if you finish his text it locks up. So I utilized a trick to be able to collect the 1st while starting the 2nd. It's all explained in the video comments.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2PjPoIaY8g4

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L5y1qXOyRMM

Ideas I will test soon:
Swimming on land + NL Hess and other options
bomb push + NL Easy HESS on same frame...
Shieldslap/More New glitches/New glitches vids AKA HF glitchtacularness... figuring it out. See if we can glitch it to our advantage.

Yesterday I realized that if you warp out of a dungeon using a song you learned after casting Farfore's Wind and then enter another dungeon and use Farfore's Wind again you can warp back to other dungeons.

It's probably been known about for ages but maybe it could be used to get places faster through the dungeons, just a thought.
