I can't seem to think of anything that would me make a segmented run worth doing over a single segment. There is no save warping, the run isn't too long, current tricks aren't hard enough to pull off to be left out of single segment attempts, etc. Also, activating vanes and saving does take quite a while.

Maybe I'm missing something though?

This would make more sense if you were doing 100% and including the endless cucco game.
