Ground jump possible
« on: October 05, 2013, 03:18:15 PM »

I'm pretty new to the whole speedrunning thing, and I was practicing my superslides. I can't remember exactly what I did (at all), but here's what I do remember:

1. I had farores wind on B.
2. I was an adult.
3. I did a lot of rolling and picking up bombs. Think of failed super slides.
4. I used farores wind once, doubt it had an effect on the ground jump, but info is good.
5. I did a lot of shielding the bomb, and backflipped when a bird from lake hylia hit me, and a bomb blew up at the same time. (shielded both hits. I think)
6. I drew my bow, shot the bird while L-targetting.
7. After I shot the bow and stopped L-targetting, I ground jumped. Just straight upwards. (I may have backflipped to cause it. Can't remember)

So yeah, I'm not sure exactly what happened to get the ground jump. I'd reckon it'd be the bird and bomb hitting me as I backflipped and perhaps the recoil was something.. IDK. But ground jump is possible, and anybody who feels they want to attempt to figure out HOW, go ahead.

Or it may already exist and I'm being dumb here, but whatever.

Were playing on n64 version when you did this?

Also, if you had stored a ground jump from shielding both damages, you shouldnt have been able to pull out the bow so this is very curious

lol, I got quite a laugh out of that question. No, it was definitely my 3DS. (Unless N64s are suddenly very small, handheld and 3d)

And yes, I was INSANELY surprised when it happened. I just got fed up of the bird continuing to hit me as I tried to practice my superslides, and started mashing buttons. Then I ground jumped and was like WHAAAAA?!

Practicing super slides when they do t work? Lol
We're you against a wall when you did the "ground jump"?
Or did you shield damage when you back flipped? (Like an early megaflip)

Super slides don't work? And yeah, I did shield damage. I know for a fact I shielded damage from the bird when I back flipped, not sure about the bomb damage. May have taken damage, may have shielded.

on the 3ds.
With a different method that I don't know of.

It was probably the one that you linked, but it had a delayed jump and it was straight, not recoiled backwards.

Yeah not sure what it was myself lol. Seems useful though, if it can grab ledges.
