Getting into the running community

I've always wanted to get into the the Zelda speedrunning community, but it's always seemed really, really overwhelming to me. o ^o
What's the best way to get started out? It probably doesn't really matter but I've also had experience speedrunning other games (Sonic Adventure, Super Mario 64)

Just visit the irc and come talk.  I do believe you can visit the irc from the main page of this website, so you should do that.
