Getting Japanese Version on VC Tutorial?
« on: May 11, 2013, 08:51:13 AM »

I'm tired of using an emulator and would like to start using VC, but getting the Japanese version is proving to be extremely difficult.

So far, I've soft modded my wii and got the Homebrew Channel.  I then downloaded the Homebrew Browser Channel.  From there, I got the Wii 64 emulator, but it has quite a few odd problems.  I'm unsure if I am just supposed to change the settings or if people don't actually use this.

I used the forum search function to see if people have already explained how to get the J version on VC, but I couldn't find anything.

Any help is appreciated.  Even just telling me what I should look for would be helpful because I could probably find it and figure it out myself.

EDIT: after many hours, I have finally learned how to install WADs.  I just need to learn how to make the Japanese version playable.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

1) Soft-mod your Wii and/or install Homebrew channel

2) Download and install Multi-Mod Manager 13.4

http://www.wii-homebrew.com/download/nintendo-wii-downloads/firmware-und-hacks/modifikationen/multi-mod-manager/summary

3) Download the Japanese OoT WAD (which is a Wii Channel encapsulated into a single file) and put it on your SD card

http://www.mediafire.com/?3537jw53om6g67w

4) Use Multi-Mod Manager to install the WAD file that you put on your SD card

5) Download and install Priiloader

http://wiibrew.org/wiki/Preloader/Priiloader

6) Use Priiloader to enable the "Region Free Channels" setting

7) All done - go play Japanese OoT

Source - I just did it today.

Ah! Thanks!  I was finally able to get the WADs and stuff, but I couldn't play the Japanese version.  I ended up getting a region changer, but if I can use priiloader to be able to play the JP version without changing my Wii's region every time, that would be awesome!  I'll probably try it out soon.  Thanks a lot :D

Hello,

Resurecting this old thread since I'm having big problems to play JP OOT VC on my Wii.

When I lauchned launch d2x-cios in my homebrew :

Here the first question. What's exaclty is this ? Multiple parameters to setup and no informations on it at all.
Select cIOS : are avaible <d2x v4>   <d2x v5>   <d2x v6>   <d2x-v8-final>
Select cIOS base: with <d2x v4> base available are 37 38 53 55 56 57 & 58
.........................with <d2x v5> base available are the same
.........................with <d2x v5> base available are the same
.........................with <d2x-v8-final> base available are the same plus 60 70 80
Select cIOS slot: Slot are going from 200 to 255
Select CIOS revision: 21 65535 or 210004/5/6/or 8 in function of the cIOS

Apparently I found that the base and slot are 58 and 249. Don't know whats to use for cIOS and cIOS revision.

I manage to instal the game throught Multi Mod Manager, activate the Free Region Channel on Priiloader but everytime I lauch the channel I get this screen:
http://i.imgur.com/ghOylXY.jpg

The only thing I can do is press A and my Wii reset.

Thanks for your help.

It says
You will need the Classic Controller.

Connect Classic Controller
to the P1 Wii Remote
or press the A button
to return to the Wii Menu.

You can also plug in a gamecube controller and use that.

yes first you must install priloader and install the hacks on bootmii then turn on region free games
after your done their playable here is some wads to if you like v

now i have found the japanese version of oot v1.2 here is the link
http://www.mediafire.com/download/wle7ia714kx74fn/Zelda+no+Densetsu+-+Toki+no+Okarina+%28JP%29.wad

i have also found the legend of zelda majoras mask japanese version here is the link
http://www.mediafire.com/download/9i16q70dnkx0qk3/Zelda+no+Densetsu+-+Mujura+no+Kamen+%28JP%29.wad

if you want the wii mod to install the wads they can be found here
http://www.mediafire.com/download/32ums1q6budum6d/wadmanager17.rar (requires an extracter)

to change the (free) the wads to make it 100% work use freethewads program V
http://endlessparadigm.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=11457

now of course if you are using a us wii you most region change your wii
or you can enable the hack on priloader enable region free games for gc wii (even more)

:) if you need anymore help reply to me remember if you dont own the game this can be illegal
of course after doing this do not risk updating your wii just to be clear i own these games wads are meant to be used as backup incase it breaks

now i am currently using all these programs so they have been tested  :D

Do you guys still get lag with the start / menu screen coming up with this method? (I do).

Anything that eliminates it?

What do you mean by lag? Does the music sound weird (too slow)?
If that is the case, your Wii is PAL and you have to change the Screen Region to NTSC (with AnyRegionChanger).
Don't mess with other options, though.

I'm struggling real bad to get this game working on vc..  I got homebrew installed and then formatted my sd card so that it was blank again.  now I know I have to install multi media manager but when I click on the link in the thread above, it isn't there anymore.  Is there any other place that I can find multi media manager to put it on my sd card?

Hey, so I downloaded Multi mod manager and priiloader, as well as the wad. I put all the files in the appropriate places (or so I assume, with the apps in the apps folder and the wad on the root of the sd card). The sd card is 2gb non hdsc, So everything was set up right, but when I opened MMM and tried to install the wad, for some reason it just failed to install. I then also tried to install priiloader, but that wouldnt work either. Am I missing something? Do I need to do something with the "extra" folder that came with priiloader? And even with the priiloader problem solved, why won't the wad install? Is it a problem with MMM? Is there a better wad installer i could use? Really wanna run this game, any help would be much appreciated. My Wii is the red special edition mario wii running on 4.3U, if that helps at all.

I think you have to chose iOS 249 in MMM prior to installing. I don't remember if you have to install it yourself.

What about the priiloader situation? Will that just work once i have the wad installed or is there another special instruction for that? Thanks for the tip on MMM tho. Desperately trying to run w/o emulator.

I can't remember installing Priiloader. I always thought it came automatically with the softmod, might be wrong though.

Hi, I'm Ruku. I'm new to all this wad-, things and was wondering is there a way I can install LoZ on my wii?
I use PAL and would like to play in English unless the above already allows that. Oh, I want to install OoT and MM.
I don't know anything about wads so I may need to be guided when installing them. So what's the risk to doing this?
