How do I do I get a Big Poe on B in this one?

How do I do I get a Big Poe on B in this one?

Do you want Big Poe on B for trading them in and recieve the 4th bottle?
If that is the case, then I recommend you to RBA a red potion instead. It will give you the 4th bottle, without having to mess up anything related to the big poes.

Otherwise, Big Poe is value 30. Just RBA the value 30.
You can check this page for information about item amount.

Yeah, I already did that and I have the bottle, but I want to max out the points at the Poe shop now.

That page is kind of confusing, and I'm not seeing anything regarding Big Poes there. I tried using the method described here (http://www.jaytheham.com/zcw/Ocarina_of_Time_Bottle_Adventure_-_Infinite_Big_Poes) and I got... hover boots.

Tried it with Bombchus+Poe and I got the Poacher's Saw... wtf.

EDIT: Was finally able to get it to work with Arrows+Bugs.

Yeah, that is why I suggested you to look at the page I wrote.
It shows the new count combinations in OoT3D. And as you may have noticed, Bugs is linked to arrow count :)
You are ofcourse able to do it with other items than the bug and arrow count. ^^

That page just made everything more confusing, especially seeing as how this was about BA and not RBA.

It... explains what bottle links to what count... Bugs = Arrow count
It says that on the page, it should not be confusing in any way whatsoever.
If you find it confusing, then you should really try to start understand it, as it helps alot when it comes to RBA and amouns in BA.

Oh please. I understand that section's significance for BA now, but it was hardly clear. That chart that's supposed to explain which bottled items are linked to which "ammo" only describes its RBA utility (updating item amount?). This is because you linked me to what was purely an RBA page (even though I was trying to do a BA exploit), and since I'm kinda new to all this BA/RBA stuff, I didn't know wtf I was looking at.

Considering that the OoT3D page doesn't even have an adequate BA section up yet, you could've just given me a straight answer from the start, instead of tossing me an RBA page and expecting me to work backwards.

Alright, question time.

I did a TSC with Young Link to skip the King Zora and the letter in a bottle thing to get to the the Water Temple without realizing it would block access to the Ice Cavern later.  Has anyone found out a glitch specific method of bypassing him as Adult Link?  Or even getting to the Shadow Temple early?  (I want some pair of boots so I could preform the any item on B glitch)
I will continue messing around myself, but thanks in advance!

Currently, No. There is no way to bypass King Zora as an Adult, Sorry :(. I have been experimenting this and DoT. But sadly, i haven't been pregressing as i would like to.  :(

If you want to get to the Shadow Temple early, RBA for the Nocturne of Shadow. You're going to need the Odd Poultice from the Biggoron trading quest, though.

Since you don't have any boots and can't do the Restricted Items method for Deku Stick on B, I recommend doing the Epona Death+Swordless  (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Tt8sTVcPc8)glitch, followed by saving and quitting. The timing for Epona Death is pretty strict, so you should probably mash one of the tabs on the bottom screen to progress through the frames- you're going to want to mount right after the bomb explodes.

Once you reload your file you'll have Deku Sticks on B, which will allow you do the Bottle on B (http://zeldaspeedruns.com/oot3d/ba/beginning-bottle-adventure) exploit (scroll down to the bottom).

Put the Poultice on II and catch some bugs/fish with the B bottle. You'll now have the Nocturne of Shadow, so you can get to the Shadow Temple and grab the Hover Boots.

No, dont do Hover Boots on B. When you use them as a child, you will be able to walk with them on (the same as adult link, kind of like a slippery stop). BUT when you hover off a ledge, the game freezes and I think so does the DS. Therefore don't use Hover Boots on B.

I'm trying to get the purple gauntlets, but my efforts seem to have no effect on anything at all. I collected the Adult Wallet, Silver Scale and the first upgrade to the Deku Seed count, and skipped the Goron's Bracelet as child Link. Then I became Adult Link and got the Pocket Cucco and the Iron Boots, put the Cucco on II and stole the rod, turned the rod in to a deku stick (I had 0) and then in to a bottle, caught a fish then bought the Giant's Knife and re-equipped the Master Sword. Did I miss a step? ._.

You are suppost to RBA the pocket egg.

It is the pocket egg that gives you the colored gauntlets.

If you have an item assigned to a button that you normally cant equip while going through time, it will put it in your inventory.
So it should not work, unless soldout functions in some odd, stupid way.

Yes but you get stuck in dead hand's room after killing him if you do the actor glitch. Here is a video some effects: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ONdN2E-vTQ&feature=channel_video_title

The glitch is not really that neccessary, we could just get zeldas lullaby before it.
The main issue is that vine clip doesn't work anymore :(

It's not possible

http://zeldaspeedruns.com/oot3d/ba/bottle-adventure (http://zeldaspeedruns.com/oot3d/ba/bottle-adventure)

You can try RBA with a Fairy and Gerudo Mask on Slot II as Child Link, but you'll have to do a New Game+ file since there's no other way to get Bottle on B as Child Link (That I can think of anyway)

I could be completely wrong though since I'm still newish when it comes to Bottle Adventure and RBA.

Walk while talking forest escape and trade through the happy mask shop. Use Deku sticks to replace the sword if you need to attack, you can find one in a pot in Darunia's room.

Nope, when it says pocket egg, it is means the pocket egg.
It turns into a pocket cucco when it hatches, so we would say pocket cucco instead of egg if you were suppost to use that item. :)

You could just skip the trials entierly using either megaflip, megaflip + damage boost, hover boost, or hammerslide into the loading zone, just like you do it on console.

As for the room, what do you mess up on? If you cant make it through the room I assume there is something in specific that you're having a hard time with.

I will have to look up what those things mean.  I'm a long-time player, but I'm not techie like that.  In this trial you must jump to collect all the silver ruppees and I'll get down to the last ruppee and something always kills me.  I get nervous and fall or something hits me, or some stupid thing.  It's 3ds Master Quest and I beat this room during the regular quest, so this is perplexing me.  Maybe I just need to take a break?  I will research those moves you mentioned.  Thanks for replying.

Trial skip is a very useful glitch which allows you to skip all the trials. If you are doing it on master quest you obviously have to stand on the opposite side of the room.

Megaflip (By far the hardest method): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dl_qCqv2Mk0
hover boost (very easy to pull off): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NWaOxX74oG8
Hammerslide (this one is easy if you're used to it): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dy8UrjxXKjc
Megaflip + Damage Boost (This one is easy if you're good at megaflip): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M68ryXAdO1c

It's inspiring how people like you and others on this board think so creatively and out of the box.  People in general may criticize game playing but I see the development of creative thinking at its zenith.  I'm serious.  And I don't worship game playing at all.  I admire the problem-solving skills and unwillingness to take the road forged for you.  Well done.

As long as nothing's changed in the 3DS version, this is the way I go about doing it. See if it works for you:

You can also simply run to the door after the last silver rupee instead of using the Hookshot.

Sorry for the quality!

You can not get bombchus early from bottom of the well in oot3d.
You have to play masterquest and use navi dive from lake hylia to zoras domain, then enter jabu jabu early and get bombchu inside of him.
You can make a chu chest appear inside of him.

Early bombchus are only necessary to get the purple gauntlets, not the blue ones.

i don't know where to ask this but this seems to be the closest place.

in the escape the forest methods list in the OoT3D section, it says you need to use the owl to reach kakariko village due to a closed door. that door can be passed through from behind since it lacks collision data on the back so you don't need to do that workaround.

I have a question:
Is it possible to one cycle ganondorf?
You may use giant's knife.

I've been trying a several times (10-15 times) and I am almost always 1 hit away from killing him. I noticed that it was possible to time arrow hits in order to hit in with like 8 arrows in a row. I have yet to do such a thing with a sword though. I hope I am just being bad.

Also, if you manage to do it, either make a video of it or tell me how you did it.

If we can't one cycle dorf I'll have to alter the NG+ route alot, making it much slower. :(

i've heard about climbing a seam in gerudo valley to get across the chasm with no bombs and just a cucco but i can't find a vid of this anywhere. can anyone get a video of this so i have an idea how to do it? also, is it harder or easier than the megaflip + damage boost method to get into the fortress as child?

I consider it to be much harder. You have to climb the seam that is to the far right of the bridge. If you fall down from the seam to the left, you end up in the river at the very bottom. It is a tricky seam to climb, and doing it with a cucco is much harder.

The seam is much harder than lets say the seam in gerudos fortress, and if you fall down to the left, you do not get a second chance for quite some time.
And if you use a cucco, you're not allowed to align yourself using the camera or an item.

Even if you do it with bombs, I would say that it is harder than the megaflip + damage boost method, so I recommend just doing it the old way.

hm i see. it was a lot more complicated than i thought.

i'll look into the old method since i'm getting better at megaflips lately.

If you've never equipped a sword through the gear menu and die/save while having a bottle on B, you'll loose it.
If you have equipped a sword earlier you will get a deku stick on B when you die or save. (unless you save in water, which will temporarily disable the B button until you reset the game or die, which will enable the B button again)

HOWEVER, if you save while being mounted on a horse or while in the fishing pond and have fishing rod on B, you will keep the bottle on B.

So in other words, the effects are different if you've equipped a sword before getting the bottle on B. Note that drawing the master sword in ToT doesn't count as equipping the sword.

The description on the ZSR page is as descriptive as it can be. It explains EXACTLY what happens in all different scenarios from what I know.

This may seem like restating what happened above, but I just want to clarify because it hasn't worked for me.

If i start a new game with hammer on B as child and head to the fishing pond, where i pay for fishing and save while rod is on B, then go die doing something, then if I don't save, then when I reload the save from the main menu, I should respawn at Link's house with hammer on B, correct?.

I am asking this because I had a file with hammer on B that I was prepping for beating fire temple as child, and I went into the fishing pond, started fishing, cast the line, and saved. then i restarted the game and had nothing on my b button/disabled b button when I loaded.

also some questions regarding YL in adult link dungeons.

since you can spawn poes by pulling graves, the shadow early method of poe hovering should work with YL correct? Just asking because I am making a max% child file and I am very interested in whether or not shadow crashes when YL steps in the blue warp, and YL in AL dungeons alltogether.

I don't see why Shadow early that way with YL wouldn't work. The only problem is, in order to beat the dungeon, you have to make it past the silver rupee room with the invisible spikes and ledges. There isn't any way to hover in that room, so I don't think it's possible. You could maybe complete the dungeon as adult link and not step into the warp, savewarp then come back as a child and warp to the room before with Farore's Wind and trigger the cutscene with YL. But I don't think that you can set a warp point in the future and warp there from the past.

This is all speculation, I don't own the game. But I know you can't complete the silver rupee room as YL without hovering.

I'v actually tried beating the temple as AL and then warping back in as YL, but as in oot64 you cant use AL FF spots as YL (Seeing as how there were a few temples that could be entered by YL naturally). I ended up getting stuck at the boat, as i can not see a way to climb on to the boat, although I will probably try it more once my maxchild file gets farther.

That is very odd. It has always worked for me, and everyone on youtube that I explained it to.
You save while in the pond and have rod on B. The next time you load your file, it will still have the item on B.
I do this all the time, mostly when I create premade files to record different stuff like for example when I did the mushroom child RBA video.
I just loaded a file that had bottle on B from earlier.

I have never encountered any problems with this. It has always worked.
The same goes for while riding on a horse.

=/

Do you guys think it's possible to skip Gerudo's Token AND Requiem of Spirit. I know you need either one to get to Spirit Temple as Adult but i had a theory. The Seam / Megaflip / Unload Lower Gerudo's fortress, can make us skip both of these either requirements.

Now to do the Unload Method, we need to bypass that guard, who (if were adult) will capture you. I assume you can bombslide, through the tunnel? leading to the seam. Now you can megaflip, the only thing making me worried about this part is if the guard who is watching the entrance to the tunnel is still loaded. If she isnt, we can go right on through the gate and into HW, Hover boots over the quick sand, and then just go through desert.

This obviously means Spirit will be the 3rd, 4th, or 5th temple entered, because you need Hover Boots and Fairy's Bow for Spirit Temple.

Possible.

You use remote control epona inside of gerudo's fortress. You navigate epona to the upper section of the area, then press A to get ported to epona, so that you get to the upper area of the fortress.

Now load the upper section of the fortress so that the lower one is unloaded.

And when the upper one is loaded you can either use the megaflip method to get to the lower one while it is unloaded, or use epona to get ported to the lower one while it is unloaded.

You can now walk through the gate that leads to the desert.

That is one way of doing it.

I think the only way of getting to the upper section without getting caught is using epona.

Requirements: epona, bomb & shield.

Is there any way to get into the bottom of the well with just the megaton hammer on B(yay newgame+)? It'd be nice if we could, since getting 40 gold skulltulas takes forever to get the bombchus.

I'm trying to eventually get purple gauntlets on the main quest, for those who are wondering. Not speedrunning or anything. And I don't want the Song of Storms either. :P

Nope, we can't. I tried that when we first found NG+. I wanted to see if you could destroy the pile of bones in BotW to get chus. But then I figured that it isn't possible to even enter BotW early without sword. (at least we've not found a way to do it yet)

And you can get purple gauntlets with the help of inventory overstuffing if I remember it right.
I think Sold Out RBA removes your bracelet, which then allows you to get purple gauntlets.

If I do the sold out RBA, would it be possible to get the gauntlets on a save that's already beat the game and has the Biggoron's Sword? That'd save me a lot of time of having to beat the child dungeons again. XD

You still need to RBA the egg to get colored gauntlets, so it is not possible if you have biggoron's sword already.
It should take less than 2 hours to create a file with enough items to do inventory overstuffing, so it is not really that big of a deal.

Just check the overstuffing thread and it should have a list in it, which tells you how to easily setup a file ready for inventory overstuffing.

isn't the gauntlets slot controlled by the egg alone? i don't see a reason to do item overstuffing unless you want to RBA the quiver to avoid getting the bow.

Sold out (- No Mask -) affect  bomb bag, quiver & strength upgrade.
But the strength upgrade values is so high, it always give you blank as a result.
Pocket Egg just mix things up and gives you differently colored gauntlets depending on your actual strength upgrade, which it doesn't control.
http://zeldaspeedruns.com/oot3d/ba/reverse-bottle-adventure

RBA on - No Mask - will result in you not having either bracelet, or gold/silver gauntlets. It clears the slot because their values are to high.
Which as a result will give you purple gauntlets when performing RBA on pocket egg.

oh i get it now. i forgot that the pocket egg modifies part of the upgrade and that the other item does it also (i'm so used to RBAing just that item for black/purple gauntlets)

that was the crooked cartridge trick on n64. it is only possible there because it involves pulling the cart from the side to make the game glitch a bit and go though some stuff.
that isn't possible on GC, VC or 3DS versions.

It's looking like Child Shadow Temple 3D won't work through that method I did the cartdridge before I should have known :). I'll keep searching for a way though, I don't have any leads for other child in adult temples either, besides fire which has been done

Hover boots as child link freezes the console when you try to hover.
If that wasn't the case, we would use hover boots in NG+. It would save a several minutes in dodongos cavern, and it would render slingshot completely useless, since you'd skip that part of dodongos cavern, & it would be easier to get odd mushroom as child.
We could also skip the cucco to wake talon up.
Skipping half jabu jabu would be easy as pie since you can just walk across the gap.

And I am probably missing some stuff. =P

So yeah, if it was possible, it would be easy as pie to speedrun the childlink part of NG+.

Sadly it isn't. =(

Anyway, when you want to BA items, just use these 2 pages:
http://zeldaspeedruns.com/oot3d/ba/bottle-adventure
http://zeldaspeedruns.com/oot/ba/item-chart

As you can see on the bottle adventure page, to BA hoverboots, just place bottled fish on II.

link froze, everything else was fine. He was going to grab the hookshot from the hip, & just stopped :/I was looking for an OoB in hyrule castle & one is almost accesable with megaflip, hoverboots would do it just fine. I'm gonna continue testing it, it's most likely that I have the wrong angle

Yes, it freezes.
The hookshot freeze is something entirely different.
Using hookshot as a child, or using the fishing rod outside of the fishing pond, etc. causes link to freeze when he tries to pull out the item.

Other things like trying to hover as child link, exploding a bombchu out of bounds or loading to many actors at once causes the console to freeze.

Anyway, why do you want to get OoB at hyrule castle? I do not see the point in trying to do that.

I am pretty sure you can put bugs inside of that hole outside of DC without removing the boulder.
I think you should be able to get the skulltula.

Maybe with boomerang? somehow? :P
It clips through everything on its way back, so maybe if you can make it pick up the skulltula.
Or maybe a jumpslash with the hammer or something will give it to you.

The only way to possibly break any cartridge base videogame (other than physical damage) would be to corrupt the save data to the point where loading the game data itself causes the game to crash. From my personal experience, there are no currently known glitches that will allow you to do this, but through using cheating devices/save generation it is possible to do (at least on the 64 version) by either obtaining too many heart containers (causing too many 2d sprites to be drawn at once on the file select screen), or activate the disk drive flag on all saves (causes the game to crash when trying to access the file in any way).

Disk based games should never break from glitching since their save data is stored on the console.

I THINK it is possible to make your savefile corrupt on the 3ds by duping to many heart pieces and saving that game, but I'm not entirely sure.
I mean, the game crashes when you try to do different stuff in the game when you have to many heart containers (Like interacting, using items, loading new areas, etc.), I do not know what would happen if you try to access the file selection screen when you have 29 heart containers. I can imgaine that the game would crash. It is not really something that anyone wants to try though.

I would not be surprised if the game wipes the saves on your game if it gets corrupt either. This would actually prove to be useful, since it normally isn't possible to wipe all the data from the cartridge, which means that once you unlock master quest, you can't remove it.

I duped 3 more hearts to go off the screen, and they work completly fine in every aspect. I'm not sure if there is a cap to how many before it crashes/annexs itself

You can press A - B - X - Y all at the same time on the 3DS screen when you load the game to wipe your saves, but does it uninstall MQ? Check out some other forums or something for that

Title: Re: OoT3D: Questions & Answer

You need more than 20 heart containers for the game to act weird, having 3 additional heart pieces will not do anything.

also, I wasn't aware that you could remove save files on 3ds? It will most likely remove master quest aswell then.
I guess that also means that a corrupt save file won't be a problem.

I do not use that method.
Go to this page and check which item amount is linked to what: http://zeldaspeedruns.com/oot3d/ba/reverse-bottle-adventure
Then go to this page and look up the item you want: http://zeldaspeedruns.com/oot/ba/item-chart

For example, Farore's Wind is 13. To get it you could place Bottled Bugs on II as child link, then as an adult, set your arrow count to 13, as bottled bugs is linked to arrows.
Get bottle on B, turn into child, then back into adult. It'll give you Farore's Wind on B.

the scrub in the dodongo room will sell them to you 15 rupees each. if you buy one, leave, and go back in, he will be there again surrounded by 3 rupees, so if you needed 2 sticks you could get them from him if you had 27 rupees.

- L Target Lizard
- Move Link in so that he is as close to the Lizalfos as possible, basically inside him
- Jumpslash
- Backflip as soon as you can

The backflip is either me being wierd or i think it cancels Link putting it away

No backflip required, and for the lizalfos, the best thing to do is to sidehop to avoid them, a backflip is a extremely bad move against them, since they will hit you anyway if they do their jump attack.

To get get broken deku stick of off an enemy, you simply have to walk against the enemy and jumpslash it.

I actually mention that in the list of "glitches" we use in the run. I'll add different tricks and glitches to the list and explain them so that everyone can do the route optimally using all the tricks that is available in the route, including bombslide, and entering the castle with just 1 box.

You make a accurate jump straight toward the waterfall with just 1 box pushed as far as possible without making it fall down and link will make an additional jump at the end to make it over.

We can't RBA stones in OoT3D before obtaining them. (as it requires saw, which requires adult link)

49 Arrows for Cojiro on B filestart, there may be a Kokiri girl who will respond to it (if not all of them), because there is a Kokiri girl who accepts the Cojiro as an adult. Sorry I can't test this now, but maybe get Poachers Saw as an item for child link.

You cannot due a wrong warp if you have already used the bluewarp before, right?

I just tried Hyrule Castle as Adult for a while, I know my timing wasn't off, but I've certainly used the Deku Tree Bluewarp. It was also MQ, if that matters.

Edit: I am also wondering if there are other known Hyrule Castle as Adult methods/locations besides Twins House -> Kokiri Forest | Deku Tree, I cannot make sense of the Wrong Warp chart in our OoT section.

You can't wrong warp if you've used the blue warp before because you need a cutscene to play.

The entrance index list (http://zeldaspeedruns.com/oot/wrongwarp/entrance-index-list) is what I've been using for looking up new wrong warps. The only problem is that in order to figure out which entrance is which, you'd have to try it out on an emulator. 8111A5D2 ???? will take you to any entrance from that table if you exit/fall out of bounds/die as long as there are no cutscenes being played. To figure out which entrance you'd need to set to farore's wind, you more or less use the previous non-cutscene entrance.

I really don't understand, what do you mean by using an emulator?

I mean using an n64 emulator to figure out which entrance value corresponds to the entrance you want to store in farore's wind. The idea is to pick an entrance index so that adding +5 (for DT/DC warps) or +7 (Fire Temp) to that index value causes you to end up at the scene you want.

Title: Re: OoT3D: Questions & Answer
Post by: Nook on March 28, 2012, 10:05:44 AM
I understand using the index to pair up entrances and warps but how do I use an emulator to find this? Obviously I've used them before but I'm not sure how to utilize it for entry values.

Sorry about all the questions, I really appreciate it though.

To BA for value higher than 50 in original OOT you would use zora mask, does that still work the same in OOT3D? If not what is different?

Title: Re: OoT3D: Questions & Answer

You can still do it in 3DS, but zora's mask is replaced with the gerudo mask. OoT3D rba is a tad different, but you can find a table here on the super secret OoT3D site

Tips for ISG w/ bomb? Trying to practice Shadow Early (hard trick is hard)

You can either mash (which is involves a bit of luck that you hit a on the right frame) or you can learn how to time it. If you want to time it just look for when Link's Sword starts to pull back towards him and press A and you should get it, although I don't use a CRT TV so the timing may be a bit different for you.

that method of isg doesnt work in OOT3D. I would try replicating this guy as much as you can http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0x4vh10tf_g

Hello, I'm kind of new to the 3DS scene, but I do also run any% on console and I used to run MST, so terminology is nothing new to me. I'm going to start running any% on the 3DS, but I have some questions.

1.What are the requirements for NG+? I don't mean 'how do you do it', I mean, how can I be sure that the new file has FW on B? I just tried it, got FW on B on my main file, got on a horse, then quit the game without saving and started a new file. But what about if I die in the new file? Can I save and quit, will FW still be there? If I delete the file, will FW still be on B if I make a new one? And what if I have two files, one with FW on B, and then make an NG+ file? Will I have FW on B, or can there only be one file?

2.Is there ANY way to test if I have FW on B really early on, or do I just have to wait until I get magic?

Other than that, the only other random questions I have is how to do ISG and superslides (or whatever the 3DS equivalent is.) I tried to milk the 3DS ZSR pages as much as I could for info, but there isn't a whole lot there right now. Thanks in advance for answering :)

Title: Re: OoT3D: Questions & Answer
Post by: Pedalpowertoast on June 09, 2012, 06:30:51 PM
1.You can quit without saving. Save and dying makes you lose FW.
2.Tapping b makes the can't use sound effect when you have FW if you dont have FW no sound is played. The reason being that you don't have magic.

Hess: hold the circle pad in a southwest/east direction slightly and Link should start to spin around, then hold L and take a bomb out, just before it explodes let go of L and Link should start slide then you just hold L again and voilà youre slding.
Another thing to learn is hess turning to do it pause the game and change the direction to southwest/east
A good way to know if youre good at sliding is to slide from darunias room to goron city entrance its fun.

Sorry about this wall of text and good luck with the runs iam trying to do one myself too. :)

There are different ways to do that tick such as hitting two walls before hitting the ground, but you probably mean how to do it in the lizalfos battle. Its pretty simple L-target one, "hug" it and jump attack. After that you should keep the stick.

I'm still looking for answers on if I delete the NG+ file, and then make a new one, if the new one will be NG+ or if I have to get FW on B again on my main file.

No, because what puts the item on b is that you have that value stored when you leave the other file while on a horse or fishing.

But you could pay to fish on the NG+ file, then exit and make a new file which will have the same NG+, then delete the first one.

OK, thanks. Also, is there a decent setup for getting into the right spot on the blue warp? Thrice so far I've made it to the end and fuck up the warp, once I pressed A too early and it took me to GC, and the other two times I went to far into the warp while doing the 'inch closer and closer while pressing B each time' strat that I used on console when any% did that.

When you go to press a on farores wind, you will see the screen getting all distorted and becoming smaller. You want to press it when the screen is about half-size. The timing is pretty lenient, you just have to be patient and not go to early.

Title: Re: OoT3D: Questions & Answer
Post by: Norkix on June 10, 2012, 09:14:54 PM
For text mashing (text skip), hold the console so your thumbs are on the A and B buttons. Then, just alternate them at a natural pace. It should be decently quick, but don't spaz out on them. See my quality test vid to see this in action, although I start at the wrong time so it's a bit fucked up.

Also if anyone is the Cosmo of 3D, it's CloudMax hands down.

EDIT that is a painfully slow hellfire skip, I'll record my method later.

I kind of have a rhythm I try and follow with text. I used to be better at it, but then I learned to zombie hover in WW so my mashing got a lot faster and now sometimes I find I have to slow myself down to be more consistent.

Megaflipping is wierd and finding a setup is difficult however i came up with one.
Hold L, Backflip, take out bomb and hold R (while still holding L of course 8)
Just when it explodes roll, hold down from circle pad and tap A.
Basically you want to react to the explosion a liiitle bit later than you usually do.
Hopefully someone comes up with a better one :)
(I was able to do 3 in a row with this method)

Title: Re: OoT3D: Questions & Answer
Post by: Norkix on June 19, 2012, 03:07:13 AM
Ugh...

Go forward three planks from the wooden post, shield drop a bomb, turn around and double press your bomb button to chuck one behind you and catch the megaflip off the first bomb.

For megaflip, shield drop the bomb, backwalk a little ways out of grab range and roll as it explodes. You have a second in which you slide backwards to backflip, though you should learn the timing for immediate backflip.

Seriously kid. YouTube. Check the R&D thread or help me get people to update the page. Stop being a lazy-ass and do stuff on your own.

Sorty for being offensive.

Anyways, there is two things I think this may be referring to, if you mean link is taking damage then i think you need to keep shielding or roll later of something
If it's that he just kinda hops backwards and doesnt even backflip your timing is off

You're right. You're absolutely right. I was a dick. I apologize. I guess that's just my mentality. Whenever I want to learn a new trick, I check YouTube or the forum before asking. I shouldn't assume everyone is like me. My sincerest apologies. I'll make an effort not to be so impulsive with my posts in the future.

Believe me, I do check youtube and try to figure it out myself before I post it here. I ask here because I have tried for hours on end with almost zero success.  Believe me, I got this game just a few weeks ago with almost zero knowledge of it, and this is the only thing I have had to ask about more than once, and one of the few things I have had to ask about at all. Also, I kind of apologize as well because I guess what I'm looking for is a 'magic bullet' to my problem, one that doesn't really exist and I need to just learn it myself anyways.

Also, If you meant what you said, don't feel like you have to apologize. Maybe I am being a little whiny bitch, I should stop. Seriously, I'm not 10 years old, I can take criticism.

I found an adult fortress gate skip without saving the carpenters and without the song may help alot i'd record a vid but don't having recording

supplies don't know if anyone found it yet but nearly like the old one just get on the seam where you megaflip as a child to pass the gate and

just megaflip as an adult in the same spot getting on the seam as an adult is pretty easy I used this video to help me

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ijWy8br-BCs but I used a hoverslide at the end you can also do the hoverboot megajump thing to get to the

seam if you go to far when to land on the seam you get caught when you do land on the seam go up but not to far or you'll fall off and just

megaflip between crossbar and fence just like child link if you did it right you should be over the gate also a possibility you'll get caught but this

works i've done it plenty of times.

also you dont get much room to mess up on the megaflip from the seam if you mess up you either fall off or get pushed backwards being pushed

backwards is alot better but have to be fast when walking back up to megaflip location or the gaurds will catch you it's pretty easy to do this

with practice and it will come in handy for many dont have to save carpenters get or get the song as child link to get to spirit temple not sure

how the epona fortress skip works neither but it also skips her. tried my best to explain this hope it helps.

credit goes to nextbikerider and whoever found the gate skip as an adult in the original Oot I watched many videos and tried everything from

the seam megaflip is the only thing that works.

also mirrior shield chest as a kid from the silver gauntlet chest works just megaflip a crossed from silver gauntlet chest won't actually make it all

the way a crossed but you won't fall all the way down just walk up tilting the analog stick up/right and roll right before you reach the wall and

you will hop on the mirror shield ledge so you can get both silver gauntlets and mirror shield as a child.

Yeah this sounds like what taylortot was trying the other day. He said that he had the same problems with being caught by guards, hopefully there will be a setup to avoid that. Congrats on finding it as well

I can make it to haunted wasteland as an adult doing this 90% of the time guards dont catch me as much after practice also not 100% on the

megaflips 95% on those or so fail like 3/40 flips surprisingly these are regular bombs hear people are better at bombchu megaflips i am like 80%

with those been practicing with those a bit.

right now working on another shadow temple early method besides rba and poe hovering but seems like those are the only way poe hover isn't

that hard for me but isg takes me hours or if im lucky 10 mins or so but usually always over 30 mins just to isg I can make it on composer brother grave

but that's useless can't get enough height to grab the fence but i'll keep trying stuff so we have an alternate method besides poe hover and rba

I've been trying out this gate skip too, but I unfortunately suck at hoversliding. I'm sure after some more practice I make it to the seam though. Also if you do find another method for shadow early, I will love you forever! I tried a lot of stuff myself, but of course, to no avail. Alas...

Can I ask a question about movement speed? It feels like the recovery after a roll is faster than on console. Would this be enough to justify replacing backwalking, or is it still faster?

From what I can tell (and this is just estimating) most alternate forms of movement (sidehopping, backwalking, etc.) have been slowed down to make them more realistic. I believe backwalking is still fastest as adult, but I don't know whether sidehopping is still fastest as child.

I remember somebody saying that TSC escape was possible with a deku stick, but I dont see how as you dont get a put away boost from the broken stick. Is there anybody here who has actually somehow done it that can confirm it?

Title: Re: OoT3D: Questions & Answer
Post by: TheWayfaringFox on August 15, 2012, 08:00:54 PM
Why it works is because a deku sticks and many other items have the put away effect from TSC. So you can find the angle and use a deku stick to clip through the guy.

Title: Re: OoT3D: Questions & Answer
Post by: benstephens1000 on August 15, 2012, 08:26:43 PM
I've messed around with deku stick TSC. However, I have had zero luck with forest escape. I don't even feel that I'm close. Are you sure it's possible?

Title: Re: OoT3D: Questions & Answer
Post by: TheWayfaringFox on August 15, 2012, 09:33:51 PM
Yes, I am sure that it works, you just need to time it before the normal put away effect, and also, look slightly to the left of the black mark on the wall past the sign. That's where you clip.

ok forest escape doesn't work with a deku stick like that, what you saw is someone miss wording how it works, you use the sword slashes 3 times then use a deku stick instead of put away button which makes it so you don't accidently talk to the guy blocking your way out of the forest that much.

could be wrong but i think that is how it was suppose to be explained if it just works with a deku stick alone then enlighten us

ok so I was wondering....

we all know we can get to Jabu-Jabu's belly as an adult (because the portal/entrance is still opened even as an adult)...but does the same effect work as a kid? like can we enter ganon's castle as a child? or did the JJB one work because the map doesn't change at all kid link or adult link (which would mean leaving the entrance in the same spot...)?

I'm no game designer, I don't know what can and can't be done, but I suppose anything is possible. However, if the loading zone was still there for Ganon's Castle at young Link, how exactly would we get to it? One we don't know where it would be, two even if it was there as young link, it would be some place unreachable. I'm most likely wrong here because, once again, I am no game designer, and I do not understand the technical aspects of this game very well.

Go for. I don't really think that X and Y axis will be a problem though. I'm thinking the real problem would be the Z axis (up and down)

Title: Re: OoT3D: Questions & Answer

I'm pretty sure that Ganon's Castle and Hyrule Castle are totally different maps in the original OoT, if i'm not mistaken. Now, considering would they would need to do to get both to share the same exact region, I don't see any reason why Grezzo would make them the same place.

Then again, they could have been lazy and copy certain aspects of the Hyrule Castle map and paste it into the Ganon's castle map. I still think it unlikely.

Title: Re: OoT3D: Questions & Answer
Post by: T00lri0t on August 17, 2012, 05:42:14 AM
I have never played this game but I know original OoT pretty well. If what were trying to figure out actually works then wouldn't there be a way to get into the fairy fountain near Ganons castle as young link? If both maps are connected then I don't see why that entrance would be excluded. Like I said I've never played OoT3D and as for glitching the game in general I'm no good, but if I'm reading this right I don't see why this wouldn't work either (if the castle is reachable as child in the first place). Sounds like a lot of bomb hovering to me

The reason you can enter Jabu-Jabu as an Adult is because the child and adult versions of Zora's Fountain are the same scene, and because the exits of any scene are always loaded regardless of what age or time it is.

Scene setups are what makes the child and adult versions of Zora's Fountain different. They are basically just different actor lists that are loaded depending on whether a cutscene should play, or if Link is a child or an adult and if it's day or night out.

On the other hand, Hyrule Castle and Ganon's Tower are actually two completely different scenes, so the exits in the Hyrule Castle area don't exist in the Ganon's Tower area, and vice versa.

One rather nifty thing about Hyrule Castle/Ganon's Tower though is that when you hit an exit that leads to this area (like Great Fairy Fountain -> Hyrule Castle/Ganon's Tower), the same entrance index is used to put you at both places; the game uses Link's age to determine which scene to ultimately load. So for example, if you wrong warp to the inside of Ganon's Tower as a child and left normally, you'd end up in the Hyrule Castle map instead of  Ganon's Tower.

So far all attempts to wrong warp to Ganon's Castle have resulted in a crash. I suppose there could be some more testing with it,  but I'm doubtful that it can be done.

Right now there are no spots similar to JJB. I mean there are a couple loading zone glitches like trials skip,  but no spots exactly like JJB.

Id like to do a NG+ MST segmented run. This way it looks better can record better etc. I can also show cool timesavers. (many RI warps, insane spirit timesaver) So can a new category be created?

I'd also like a segmented MST category. It would be a better way to show off all of the cool tricks. What is this insane Spirit time saver?

Hey guys just a heads up... if you get Mirror shield early be careful in the room in the spirit temple with the rotating mirror and the floormaster because if you shine light on two of sun faces with you mirror shield before one of there mini cutscene things can activate, it will crash your game... I just wish that I could have known this before I was 2:15 into an almost flawless MST run :(

EDIT: After trying to replicate this crash, I was unable to. It seems that this is just a very silly thing that could happen to anyone, not just speedrunners who got Mirror shield early... which is very disappointing to me because I was well on track for a WR :(

Actually, you can't shine light on the one that opens the door... from what I've tried, which is stupid.

EDIT: Yep you need to hold light on the face or the bars will close over the door again.

This may have already been asked, but I don't want to look through 6 pages of Q&A when my Internet is acting up and I want to make sure I can get an answer before it decides to die.

Is there a way to get Golden Scale early? If not, is there another way to do Jabu Jabu before DC?

Title: Re: OoT3D: Questions & Answer

You will,  however,  need either bombs or the slingshot to complete Jabu so if plan on doing it before DC I'd suggest beating the Deku tree first.

Yeah, I know. I play OOT really wierd and do things out of order (even if it isnt necessarily faster). What I usually do is Escape the Forest and get the Golden Scale, Zelda's Lullaby and save warp back to the forest. I get saria's song then I do Deku Tree, followed by Jabu Jabu then DC I get the LoT and BotW chus before becoming and adult and  as an Adult, I get the bow, do Shadow Early (which is really easy in OOT3D) then beat Shadow, get the Hammer and Longshot, then RBA (or BA, whatever it's called) and get the special coloured gauntlets. I navigate the Desert Wastland and do Spirit Temple, then Light arrows and blah blah blah. It's probably really wierd and not optimized, but its fun to do things out of order. =P

Do you mean that doom jumping is easy? I didn't see any mention of Ice Cavern in what you said s I'm just checking... or did you perhaps mean wrong warp. You certainly could not have meant poe hovering.

Yeah doom, your glitch is pretty awesome. Difficult to pull off at first, but very useful.

Also, to clarify, the route  I posted before is the route i usually take in oot64 and I'm trying to see if there's a way to do this route in 3ds. So far I've been able to ( sorta) I had to do dc before jabujabu and I can't finish shadow atm because I don't have LoT (since BotW early doesn't exist in 3ds) but its still fun nonetheless

Title: Re: OoT3D: Questions & Answer

Both early certainly does work... Just Google it. Also you don't need lens for shadow. Just do it without or do the gate skip to skip everything invisible.

Title: Re: OoT3D: Questions & Answer
Post by: benstephens1000 on September 02, 2012, 12:27:27 AM
It is in fact possible to reach the boss without the bow with a hover boost followed by a back flip... Although it's not always easy.

Title: Re: OoT3D: Questions & Answer
Post by: Kzar5678 on September 02, 2012, 03:15:32 AM
I didn't have the hammer either. I tried backwalkibg and backflip and a damage ESS hover but I couldn't make it across. I tried doing a super slide, but apparently you can't in oot3d same with ground jumps.

Title: Re: OoT3D: Questions & Answer
Post by: benstephens1000 on September 02, 2012, 03:23:00 AM
You can do it without the hammer. Simply place a bomb down behind you, face the pit and equip your hover boots about 2 frames after the bomb explode. This will have the effect of the hammerslide. However you won't quite make it across so you have to do a backflip at the end of the hover. This should get you high enough to get onto the other side.

The fact that you can't bomb hover for starters. I'm referring to this (http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=OfgZqAb1C88).

There was another trick (http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=sUlZ32Z5pmU) you could do involving clipping through a structure with a megaflip, but I don't think it works anymore since said structure is different now.

Oh give me a break. I asked this question here since I figured it would be my best chance at getting a first-hand answer from someone who's tried. If I wanted to be fed uncertainties I would have just went to gamefaqs.

For the mirror shield from outside trick, can you pull it off with a well timed hoverboost or does it have to be a precise hess?

Oh the 37th heart piece is there, we just can't get to it

Title: Re: OoT3D: Questions & Answer
Post by: Kzar5678 on September 03, 2012, 05:59:55 PM
Hmm... It *might* be possible to get it via wrong warp, but it would take a LOT of experimenting and likely unpractical. Maybe we can find a way to wrong warp us so we enter Gerudo Fortress from the loading zone up on the ledge by the jail. Impractical and unlikely, but theoretically possible.

Title: Re: OoT3D: Questions & Answer
Post by: benstephens1000 on September 03, 2012, 06:15:27 PM
That is impossible, because the heart piece can only be obtained as young link, and young link is only able to wrong warp into cutscenes and there is no cutscene up there unfortunately. There are a couple wrong warps that will take you to a cutscene, you'll fall oob, and then you'll respawn in an area with no CS but those aren't common and I don't think there are any around gerudo fortress. Mostly every WW related to GF just takes you to the end credits :P

Forares wind resets when charging times right? If not, you could go as an adult and FW anywhere and set the point up top then be a child and warp there.

Or, more simply.

Longshot on B as a child and go the normal way.

Title: Re: OoT3D: Questions & Answer
Post by: corneliab on September 03, 2012, 06:49:47 PM
Lots of bad suggestions all of a sudden...

Obviously Farore's Wind resets when going through time.
As it's been stated, wrong warping is out of the question.
Hook/longshot allegedly hangs the game when used as young Link.

I've tried pretty much everything I could think of to get over there. No luck clipping through the cliffside near the chest and the new barricade just seems foolproof.

I think it's safe to say that we won't be getting that heart piece with current glitches.

Off topic, but I've been itching to do some races! Anyone who wants to race with me on SRL, (I'll probably do anything except maybe bingo -____-) just give me a PM and let me know what you want to do!

What? A wrong warp should work the same whether your young link or adult link (unless you land on oob geometry that only pushes adult link off [points to avatar]). In 64, you can wrong warp to areas that don't have any cutscenes fine, so not sure if you're talking about a 3D only thing, or if you have no clue what you're talking about.

But anyway, unless you get lucky and find a cutscene that puts you where you need to be, its impossible to wrong warp to the heart piece in Gerudo Fortress. The two possible entrances that you'd wrong warp to are 02DE (which puts you at the top of Gerudo Fortress) and 04B2 (Which puts you in the Thieves Hideout, next to the entrance to the top of Gerudo Fortress). The only method of wrong warping at your disposal would be Farore's Wind, but the problem with that is that is that the two entrances you'd have to store in Farore's Wind, 02DA and 04AE, put you at Gerudo Fortress and the same segment of the Thieves Hideout respectively... meaning that you'd just end up at the spot where you set Farore Wind anyway (unless a cutscene plays and changes that).

Well, sorry for my "bad ideas" I'm trying to help. Wrong warping seems plausible as does longshot on B. and since you say "allegedly crashes" that means you nor anyone else has really tried it yet. Maybe you should try this ideas before saying that don't work.

Title: Re: OoT3D: Questions & Answer
Post by: benstephens1000 on September 03, 2012, 07:20:38 PM
WW only works with CSs as young link because he can only wrong warp from blue warps that play CSs in OoT3D i.e. Deku, DC, IJJ, and Fire Temple. For some reason that's the only way you can WW from these blue warps. Also hookshot on b as young link does not crash the game, it softlocks because there is no hookshot animation for young link. Trust me, it has been tried before, and you're not the first one to think of it.

Title: Re: OoT3D: Questions & Answer
Post by: mzxrules on September 03, 2012, 07:22:38 PM
If you try to use the hook/longshot as a child, he won't pull it out, and you lose control of Link. It's possible to get out of it if your walking/running and angled toward an exit before you pull the hookshot.

WW only works with CSs as young link because he can only wrong warp from blue warps that play CSs in OoT3D i.e. Deku, DC, IJJ, and Fire Temple. For some reason that's the only way you can WW from these blue warps.

That doesn't explain why you can't wrong warp to Gerudo Fortress and get the heart piece.

and since you say "allegedly crashes" that means you nor anyone else has really tried it yet.

Are you really this naive? NG+ has been around for over a year, do you really think people haven't tried to use the hook/longshot of all things? I only said "allegedly" since I haven't tried it myself- but rest assured it's been documented. If you would like to prove me wrong then feel free to test it yourself!

Also, I should point out that I said that the game hangs, not crashes.

Maybe you should try this ideas before saying that don't work.

Says the guy suggesting Farore's Wind through time, hookshot as a kid, and wacky wrong warp hijinks.

Yeah, I agree with Norkix anyway. That PoH doesn't net you a new heart container (if India then that would be a different story)and doesn't do anything. Other than a new goal for oot3d bingo I think it's pretty useless.
And you don't need to be an ass about it corn. Next time, maybe people won't listen to you and even TRY to help you because honestly, when we do try, we're met with an uptight ass who thinks he knows everything. If you really want that PoH, find your own damn way.

Not really, given the Dampe glitch. It's just something to do.

I think it's pretty useless.

That's nice but irrelevant. It's something I was interested in getting, your opinion on it doesn't matter in this case.

And you don't need to be an ass about it corn. Next time, maybe people won't listen to you and even TRY to help you because honestly, when we do try, we're met with an uptight ass who thinks he knows everything.

This is actually funny. I asked since I clearly DON'T think I know everything. At least benstephens1000 eventually got himself up to speed with the situation and was able to come to a conclusion. You waltzed in and started spitballing with absolutely no awareness of the situation at all. It's patronizing really, and yes, I would be glad if posters like you would refrain from trying to give answers.

If you really want that PoH, find your own damn way.

I tried with no luck, and have since concluded that others haven't had much progress either. I appreciate the "damn" suggestion though.

Title: Re: OoT3D: Questions & Answer

If you go the cutscene you timed it really late. The timing for the blue warp is when the camera is slightly under the middle of the screen. If you do that you will perform a sucessful wrong warp. If you time it slightly after that you will see Link rising on the blue warp, which either lead to infinite oob or the game crashing. You must have timed it later than that for if you saw a glitched cutscene.

Alright, I've been trying to learn RBA and so far, I can do the glitch very reliably. I have a few questions though.
1) My B is locked now (after it was a bottle) and I want my sword back. Forest fire and water are not beat so I can't child/adult and I don't have biggoron sword. Is there another way to get master sword back on b? (if not then I'll go get BGS)
2) the charts in oot3d page confuse me. If I do RBA with the Old Poultice, I will get all of te items listed below? Or do I need to put a specific thing in the bottle (instead of bugs) to get the various items. If that's the case, what do I need to put in the bottle to learn the Reqium?

Don't know about #1

For #2: The way RBA works is that it overwrites memory with the value of a bottle item (the item on B). So what item you put on B changes what songs you have when RBAing with the Odd Poultice on II.

Now, in this particular part of memory, one bit stores what song you know/don't know. The table shows which bit records what song

Serenade of Water0000 0001
Requiem of Spirit0000 0010
Nocturne of Shadow0000 0100
Prelude of Light0000 1000
Zelda's Lullaby0001 0000
Epona's Song0010 0000
Saria's Song0100 0000
Sun's Song1000 0000

So say you put bugs on B. Bugs have a value of 29 or 0001 1100 in binary. Since each one'd bit represents one unlocked song, you just have to line up the bits to see what songs are obtained/lost

Bugs0001 1100
Nocturne of Shadow0000 0100
Prelude of Light0000 1000
Zelda's Lullaby0001 0000

Thus you end up with lullaby, prelude, and Nocturne, but lose the other songs listed on that table.

So if I am understanding this correctly, I can't learn the Requim via RBA because none of the bottle binary values have a 1 in the second of right slot.

go to death mountain trail and follow the path that leads to the crater.

on the way you should see a grotto hole enter it and you'll see a cow there.

play Epona's song then drink the milk you receive.

you now have half a bottle of milk ;D

Edit: Im a retard because I was thinking of something else :P you have to bottle dupe the milk onto B...

Title: Re: OoT3D: Questions & Answer
Post by: r0bd0g on September 11, 2012, 01:28:01 AM
To half-milk RBA you have to have something on C> (er... on 2) that points to something with the value of full milk, 26. Since that would also require requiem of spirit, uh, it's not really that useful unless you have requiem already and want to RBA and keep it. In maybe a couple of cases it can be used to get something in a slot that you otherwise couldn't (like, I forget the example I found on OoT, but it was something like getting the goron bracelet in your quiver slot), but those are also useless. Only it's really good for is something like bombchus, to get a few extra.

Unless something's different about 3D, the cows (and shops and poes and etc.) only recognize your legitimate bottles.

Sigh. I guess I'll have to navigate the Desert Collosus mirrored then if I can't RBA the Requim (since I want to complete shadow and spirit w/o beating fire and water and I forgot to get the LoT Before I became an adult). Or I'll just say screw it as beat forest fire and water and try my route again from the beginning, remembering to get TW LoT :P

About the RI glitch : Can we do this with I and II buttons or it's just with Y/X ?
Because I am trying since 15min and I can't get it to work while I can easily do this with Y/X

Title: Re: OoT3D: Questions & Answer
Post by: Norkix on September 12, 2012, 08:05:46 PM
It is possible to do it with I and II, but Y/X are recommended, because they are actual buttons.

As for why you aren't getting it, remember that this is almost a frame-perfect trick, and when people on consoles need to do frame-perfect tricks, they mash. I mashed to do this trick in the beginning, but then I began trying to learn the exact timing of the button press. I now get RI 90% of the time casually (i.e. Steal the Rod glitch) and about 60% when under pressure (i.e. RI FWWW) and I do not mash. The reason under pressure is so much lower is because it's usually for a trick I only get one chance at, so I push the button too early from nerves. I'm learning to slow down though ;)

I hope that helped even though I rambled a bit. While I'm here, I have my own question: are there any useful Adult wws or are they all cs skips? If they're all cs skips, where do you put the warp points? In Toast's vid, it appears the point was set in the boss room. Is it this way for all adult dungeons? I need to know this kind of stuff before I get back to routing 100%.

Title: Re: OoT3D: Questions & Answer

Only the fire temple warps to CS.  The rest can warp anywhere, as long as you set the warp where you want to go.

Thanks for your reply Norkix :)
I have the timing with X/Y (I do not mash), I'm like you, I get RI 90% of the time, but when I try with I/II, I fail everytime.

And about the fact that when you try RI FWWW you get it only 60% of time, I think it's because you have to RI just before touching the ground.
I get the impression that when I open the item menu too early (in mid-air) even if I get the RI, it's immediatly canceled, am I right ?

You're close. The time in which FW can be used is several frames and then it runs out. Therefore, you need to time items right before the sidehop ends, so the message box will immediately trigger the warp.

Does "Kiddy Capers" still work in 3D? Basically what you do is you set a FW point, then when you pay to ride at lon lon ranch, you warp away. Then if you play a minigame that replaces B, it'll get stuck there.

Title: Re: OoT3D: Questions & Answer
Post by: doommaker on September 15, 2012, 03:59:07 AM
Ok so I tested that and I didn't get stuck or anything

What I did:
Set FW at shooting gallery
Pay to ride at Lon Lon
FW to gallery
Play game

The timer was frozen at the bottom during the game but continued after I stopped playing and when I left the gallery all my items were grayed out (exept for my boots of course)
And so was my sword....

Btw I layed an FW after I paid to ride and  Then I returned to warp point after the time was up and now I have infinite time inside the horse area ;D

Kiddy capers the one where you pay to ride, warp out, go back in time and play a game right? If so, I did that and got the slingshot stuck on B (as a child), so i think it works.

Okay thanks, I have continued to try RI FWWW, and with training it's more consistent

Doom -> You don't have the Megaton Hammer in your screenshot

Does "Kiddy Capers" still work in 3D? Basically what you do is you set a FW point, then when you pay to ride at lon lon ranch, you warp away. Then if you play a minigame that replaces B, it'll get stuck there.

I have also tested this, and it works for me. As a child, I got the slingshot in B.
I have tried to empty my seeds to do a bottle dupe on B button, but I had forgotten that other items are disabled.
However, when I died, it has occurred the same thing as the "Lon Lon stick" glitch find by CloudMax :
I have nothing in B, and when I perform an action that gray out the B button, it stills grayed out. Then I die to highlight the B button and I have nothing in B (it's because I have never obtained the Kokiri sword ? I don't know)
If we could find a way to get the stick in B button, it would be great :D Because currently, the RBA as a child is pretty limited. (You can also steal the fishing rod 2 times when you are a child with inventory overstuffing, I don't know if it was already said)

I'm really curious as to whether it's possible to get to scene 1 at Zora's Fountain in this version (the one that originally had the ocarina pedestal and the screwy overloaded Jabu). Based on the following quote, it doesn't seem like it can be reached through death grotto warping:

If you want to find out where a warp goes... start with this page:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0ArZNXsrf3f80dFZkM2pielR3Q1AyTi11ejQzLW5GYXc#gid=2

Find the entrance you're using. Then move over to this page:

http://wiki.spinout182.com/w/Debug_ROM:_Exit_List

Find your entrance number and look 4 lines down. That's the area it warps to. If you want to know where in that area you're going to turn up (if you're not using FW or leaving a grotto to get there) then head back to that first page and find your new entrance to see. You can run this process in reverse (look 4 lines up instead of down) if you want to try and find a way to warp to a particular place.

Based on these documents, you would have to set the warp point 010F, which seems impossible here. So grotto warping is a no-go.

However, it was apparently possible to reach the area through blue warp wrong-warping to Gerudo Valley->Tent in the original. I've tried doing this as young Link with the Fire Temple's blue warp following a freshly killed Volvagia, but the game crashes. I was wondering if anyone has tried or is willing to try this with the Deku Tree and Dodongo's Cavern blue warps.

Death hole warping always seems to get you scene 0. If you want scene 1 you have to use deku or dc. In those cases, also, add 5 and not 4. Fire is scene 3, so add 7.

If I'm following this right, it sounds like getting to scene 1 is impossible. If I were to add five, this would mean that I would have to set the warp at 010E, the Zora's Sapphire cutscene. This can't be done though, can it? I'm assuming this is referring to the rock outcrop that Link spawns to at the beginning of the scene, but setting up a warp here isn't possible due to you spawning in the water after the scene is over. Likewise, getting to the similar scene 2 doesn't even seem like an option since 010F is not listed on that google doc.

Adding 7 with the Fire Temple warp would seem to require setting up a warp in a cutscene, for both 1 and 2,
so that doesn't seem to be the way to go either.

EDIT: scratch all this, I think I should've been looking at the 03D0-03D3 entrances. Still though, how can I tell that these would lead to a scene 1 state? Why would the Fire Temple warp cause a crash but not Deku or Dodongo- the following entrances look to be very similar.

First, if you're looking at the child/adult night/day stuff, just ignore that. The child day entrance is what's always stored in memory. Then whatever area you hit after adding 4 or 5 or 7, just ignore everything else. That's just to find out what area you end up in. For what scene you get, 0 for death hole, 1 for deku/dc, 3 for fire. Fire crashes because Zora's Fountain either doesn't have a scene 3, or if it does, it doesn't work. If you want scene 1 in Zora's Fountain, you just need to set FW somewhere where 5 exits down it says Zora's Fountain, and then warp there from deku or dc.

Setting FW after the Zora's Sapphire cutscene is one way to reach Zora's Fountain, though there are others. A bonus of setting after that cutscene is you should be guaranteed not to get a random crash -- that is, if the scene still works, setting it there is the best way to find out. The reason it shouldn't random crash is because you will hit the actual entrance that that scene was intended to use, so the data should be guaranteed to load properly.

Hello. I'm sort of new to using glitches in OoT3D.

Currently, I'm working on getting the Blue gauntlets, but I'm stuck trying to get the Bombchus beneath the well.
I have gotten beneath already using a TSC, although I have been unsuccessful with retrieving the bombchus. please help. :D

To our knowlege, you can't get bombchus early from BOTW in oot3d. You can get them from skultullas (through hammer ng+) or from the spirit templ (I think?)

As for my own question, is FWWW possible without FW on b? I can't seem to get it. do you have to time the 1 frame of usability with landing? that seems that it would be nearly impossible.

Also, how do you save FW on b for NG+? You cant put the hookshot on B for child, i think

No real way to get chus from Spirit early but yes you can get them from GSs

FWWW is possible without bottle adventure FW by using restricted items like so: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TTW_WH3wGNM

The only possible way to save a file with an item on the B button (excluding any type of sword) and still have that button on the B button is to save after having paid to fish at the fishing pond or while riding Epona. You can put hookshot on B. However this is pointless because the games crashes (I think) due to no hookshot animation for child link.

Um... I'm confused as to what you mean. From what you're getting at it sounds like you may be a little confused also. NG+ is normally not done as child Link. To get NG+ you must use a different file with FW on B. Also I have no idea what hookshot has to do with any thing about NG+ FW. NG+ involves BA which involves bottles and there contents and their correlation to item amounts such as poe with deku seeds and bugs with arrows. The amount value for the item must be be 13 for FW BA.

Title: Re: OoT3D: Questions & Answer
Post by: misterb1998 on December 23, 2012, 08:18:51 PM
Sorry if I was unlclear.

To my understanding, in order to start a NG+, you have to have the item you want to transfer on B, then save while fishing or riding.

To get FW on B as adult, you have to BA hookshot as a child. Hookshot on II -> pull out sword -> FW on B

My question is, how do you get hookshot on II as a child? you cant move the item there. The only way I can think you can do that would be to overstuff inventory then get it as a child from Dampe's grave.
Is there not an easier way?

Ugh.....just make sure your quiver has 13 arrows and you have a bottle with a fish. Now get a bottle on your B button, put the MS back to the pedestal, equip the fish bottle as child to the II button and pick up the MS again. Now test the B button for FW.

You can also use 13 dekunuts IIRC but the item on II needs to be a bottled poe instead of a fish. As to why this works...just read it from the regular OoT ZSR page. Hopefully this helps.

Ah no that's not how to setup NG+ at all. My method Is this. First go pay to fish as an adult. Use restricted items to take out a bomb and when the bomb is out cast your line so that you get damaged while fishing. You can now move to the door and exit without reeling in. Now jump in the water and enter and exit the fishing area. Now you will have deku sticks on your b button, but you need to break them all. After that I drop a fish then re catch it so that link has a bottle in his hand. Now you have to back flip and hit the button your bottle is on then the b button while in mid flip (or is it the best then bottle, I can never remember). Now you have bottle on B which allows you to start bottle adventure.

Now go back child. This is were methods of BA can differ depending on what contents a bottle has and what item those contents link to. I use a poe, so go to the graveyard at night and catch a poe. Then make sure you put this bottled poe on the II button. Now you have to make sure you have exactly 13 deku nuts in order to get BA FW. Now if all of these requirements are met you can go draw the master sword and have FW on the b button.

Ah. Ok. you can use item amount linking instead of just item IDs. Cool.

I have been trying for the past 2 hours to use the Blue warp in the Deku tree with my FW @ HF->KV to get to the nocturne cutscene.

The only times I got the timing right, I pushed warp maybe a bit too early/too late? I wound up under the kokri forest just falling indefinately. Im thinking of starting a new NG+ file so i can just use B and not have to deal with using a sidejump -> touchscreen -> swap FW -> mash x/y -> hope to land -> figure out when to hit warp

Its a big pain.

It sounds like you already have the emerald, if the cutscene of you getting it doesn't play you cant warp :(
Im not 100% sure but i think the cutscene value of the deku tree and dodongos cavern somehow...uh...i dont know :'(

If you are oob falling in Kokiri Forest that means that you timed it late. The timing is pretty specific, it's before you get pulled up, not when you get pulled up. The camera spinning should tell you what time you are here, as it's when it's spinning the fastest ;)

So, I set up FW at Kakariko House (bottom of the stairs to the left) to central kakakiro, then did FW WW. This time, I think I got it right....ish. I wound up in kokri forest. not OoB, but in the middle of mapish.

Too early or too late? I'm trying again, this time with warp from hyrule field.

You need to take damage and enter the grotto at near the same time, if you die on the hole or fall through it is sucessful. If you need a setup, don't hesitate to ask.  ;)

Although Fox says he is making a video of the setup, I will describe mine for the grotto just on the side of the entrance to Hyrule. First line up with the fence and back flip. Do a 180 turn, pull out a bomb. Now from here you have a 3 frame window I think. The first is the frame when the bomb begins to grow. It should be slightly larger and dark blue. The next is slightly larger and pink, and the last is even larger and pink again I think. After this there are two more frames where the bomb is growing that do not work. The bomb should be pretty big on these frames. One is blue, the other is pink. I prefer home buffering for this since it's hard to miss with such a large Window.

On the hookshot/doom jump page, it states that you can use chus to knock yourself backwards in mid-air. However, from my experience, just shield dropping a chu doesn't make it explode, unlike in the original version. So how do I know myself back, or is it a mistake?

I don't exactly need it now, but it would be useful if I do a glitched run or something in the future.

Lol, I didn't notice that the hookshot jump page wasn't updated. It's definitely not useful to use chus at all for hookshot jumping. You move farther with either a jumpslash or just holding a direction.

It's kind of hard too do. There is a video somewhere explaining it on console, but all of the polygons aren't exactly the same. I suggest memorizing the angles of the angles on the map and the number of roles you need to take before you make a turn. Once you get good at that you can learn the back walking and the Hess strata.

oh definitely do not mash. I think mashing actually reduces your chance of getting RI. You just have to learn the timing. Remember this is a 1 frame trick. The frame you want is 10 frames you unpause.
The item your using should be lit up and your top screen should still be lit up. If you're home buffering, you want the frame before this.

I've been trying to get under the ice in ZD as an adult, and I can't manage it. Here's what I do:
1. Use the hookshot from Epona (while swordless) on the scarecrow on top of the lake laboratory
2. Get a Guay t follow me
3. Fly to the place where the stream from GV goes into LH, then get the guay to knock me into OOB water
4. Here's what I fail: there should be a way to swim over to underneath LH, bu when I swim towards it along the stream, I always end up falling out of water, even if I swim really close to the in-bound stream.

I've tried doing this on the side of the stream furthest from the laboratory, and it works, but it's nearly impossible to get to the loading point cuz you really can't see where you are... While on other side, I can see where I'm going and hopefully hit the loading point to ZD, but I simply can't get to the main water body. :(

Also, when using NG+ to get the biggoron's  sword on B, if you use the (broken) giant's knife, does it give you that or do you still start with the BG sword? And how do you escape the forest, since TSC doesn't work with BGS? I've tried walking while talking, but I can't seem to manage it. Any tips?...

The old navidive does work (I think...). TSC doesn't work with BGS, at least you don't get teleported backwards. But the old dive is actually a good idea.

...And when you do NG+ with BGS, you get a glitched master sword, which link is holding backwards. But it seems that not only the grahpic, but the collision is also glitched, since it has an appallingly short range (like a sword handle would have). Is this normal?...

This sounds incredibly weak but I have so much trouble with the approach to the castle courtyard (I suck, I know). Can anyone give me an easy way to jump the gap to the castle entrance via only one milk crate. I find myself having a great run and that always ruins it because I find my self either doing a little hop onto the ledge or just slide down into the river, filled with shame. It's such a little thin but for some reason it seems harder than the SS (for me atleast). So once again anyone actually use a strat for this or is everyone better than me?

some starts I tried were rolling immediatly when on the crate, or waiting a rolling half way. A third thing was to not take a direct angle and jump sideways to the entrance. However none of these are consistant. I hate messing up such a simple thing.

You gain the most height by rolling right before you jump. However, some others and I have discovered that rolling is actually less consistent for us with this trick. Also just go straight. None of that sideways junk. The straighter you are, the more easily you'll make the jump.

Still having problems WWing to Nocturne cutscene. I was talking with ZFG for a few lines while he was streaming and he said that chances were I have to view a certain cutscene before the warp works. Also, does it matter if I use gohma's warp or dongo's? I have seen people say to set warp to kakikiro from hyrule field, and some say it from ingo's house. I would like some clarification on this. I'm trying to create a file with all stones, forest, water, shadow, and spirit medalions, and then beat Ganon. I just can't seem to get the WW to nocturne.

If anyone is up to it, a video of WW to nocturne as a child would be very useful.

Okay, so I have just a simple question here : why do the guards in Castle Courtyard cheat so much ? They walk through objects to catch you, ok, but they aren't even watching you in the first place !
Everytime I'm in this area, I try to sidehop as fast as I can (except if I obviously can't...), but the 1st guard is more intelligent then me and gets me very often. It's sad because every other trick is kinda easy, but this little thing ruins me up each time I go for ZL. If someone has an idea about what's going on... :)

If you do every sidehop frame perfect they wont see you, but, if you mess one up after going through their vision they will get you no matter where you are. Thats how they go through walls.

You can use either warp: HF -> Kakariko or Ingo house -> Kakariko. Yes, you can use Gohma or King dodongo warp, it doesnt matter which one. The problem here might be that you time the warp incorrectly. Tap A when the blue warp thing is around 60% big. If you warp to Kakariko normally, you tapped too early, if the game crashes, you tapped too late.

I saw a tutorial on youtube for ESS. Here's what it told me to do:
1. Hold circle pad in ESS position
2. Pull out a bomb and hold it
3. When it explodes, quickly press L to start sliding. Then you can release it to turn as usual.

However, the video was called simply "Superslide tutorial", so I'm wondering, does this method result in a hess or normal ess? If it's an ess, how do  you do a hess, and a superslide in general?

Lol, if this is true ZFG is dumb :P. What he's talking about is this:

When you wrong warp, you are actually setting the game to play a cutscene. In the 64 version it's possible to wrong warp to an area which has no cutscenes; When this happens the game will try to play the last cutscene (which might not be in memory anymore) and can either succeed, crash, or just not play. But in the 3ds version the game will always crash if you wrong warp to an area which has no cutscenes (unless you Death Hole Wrong Warp as that won't force a cutscene to play), and so the last cutscene won't matter anyway.

This was answered, but to make clearer, wrong warping with Gohma's blue warp is no different than King Dodongo's blue warp because those happen to play a cutscene with the same internal number. However, wrong warping with the Fire Temple blue warp is not the same as wrong warping with those two blue warps.

Is there a wrong warp table for the 3ds version? I've had a look at this (http://zeldaspeedruns.com/oot/wrongwarp/wrong-warp-table), in particular making use of the fire temple blue warp as adult Link.
I tried the "Kakariko -> Potion Shop (back door)" warp to see if it would warp to the spirit temple, but it only crashed the game, (which leaves me to suspect that not all the warps in the n64 version work for the 3ds). Just to confirm, I've attempted this several times without using the blue warp before attempting the wrong warp.

Yeah, a lot of the blue warp wrong warps crash on the 3ds version. However if you try some warps that crash for blue warps, if you try DHWW's instead of blue warps it works (obviously not all of them) they will warp you to the place you would normally warp to except not in the CS. because DHWW's don't force you into a CS.

Title: Re: OoT3D: Questions & Answer

The key difference between a wrong warp in OoT and one in OoT3D is that if a wrong warp (that isn't Death Hole Wrong Warping) does not put you into a scene level cutscene (a cutscene that plays when immediately loading an area), it crashes the game.

You can by entering the HP tower in lon lon and exiting it. The warp itself has a big problem, it places you OoB and you're in the blackscreen mode because of the serenade cutscene and that means you cant save the game :/

Hi,
What differences are they between blue warps from Fire Temple and blue warps from Dodongo's Cavern or Deku Tree ?
It seems that you can do certain things with one and others things with the 2 others, am I right ?

What I'd like to do is to WW to the nocturne cutscene from the fire temple (it's faster to get back to boss room than in dodongo's...) but when I try I either warp to my FW point normally or see the volcano explosion cutscene... Is it my timing or is it just impossible to do so from fire temple ?

And last question if it's impossile, what sort of interresting warps can be done from the fire temple ?

Title: Re: OoT3D: Questions & Answer

I'm pretty sure the volcano explosion CS is what makes it different. And the warps I know of from fire temple is the dot skip one, the "second temple of time" and the credits

In adult temple blue warps you want to press return to farores wind just a little after the screen goes white.

Here's a link to the wrong warp table, but its not perfect, especially for oot3d. http://zeldaspeedruns.com/oot/wrongwarp/wrong-warp-table
If you get on the #zelda or #oot3d irc, there is a bot called OcarinaBot that can be used to calculate wrong warps.

Hi, I'm bad at RBA so I don't really know answers to your questions except the last one (o it's impossible), but could you please not make new threads just for a few questions and instead use the Q&A thread. We don't want the forums to get cluttered. Thanks in advanced.
Will do.

Yes, the question and answer thread is there for a reason.

RBA no mask will delete all of the strength upgrades. This also means that if you have any special colored gauntlets, then RBA no mask, they will turn purple.
Thanks. So I can play the game normally (Normal Quest or Master Quest), get the Silver and Golden Gauntlets, then do RBA -No Mask- to get rid of all my strength upgrades, then do the Pocket Egg RBA and get the Purple Gauntlets? Or it better to do Pocket Egg RBA, then -No Mask- RBA? Do you permanently lose Bombs and Bombchus from this, or can you get them back? Anything else you lose permanently besides all strength upgrades?

Title: Re: OoT3D: Questions & Answer
Post by: mzxrules on July 25, 2013, 05:55:41 AM
Benzouz, the most important difference between the Deku Tree/Cavern and the Fire Temple warps is they play a cutscene with a different internal number. In other words, you cannot play the same cutscene with a Deku Tree / Dodongo's Cavern wrong warp that you can with a Fire Temple wrong warp.

This is why your setup to wrong warp into the Nocturne cutscene is failing: you're trying to wrong warp into the scene (Kakariko) that you would have ended up anyway, essentially wrong warping into the cutscene that you're intended to watch next.

Dying or saving will remove FW from the B button or anything on the B button for that matter that is not a sword. So you can NG+ master sword, save and it will still be there, but not with hammer, FW, etc.

Guys, I am trying to have some fun with DHWW, but I totally suck at OI (which is necessary to WW, obviously). Is there a way to succeed consistently? Heck, I don't even need consistency, I just wanna succeed at least once before I run out of bombs. =P

Also, I have heard about Home buffering, but for me there is always a very large delay (almost a second) between pressing Home and the game pausing. Touch screen Map buffering seems better, but it's still not up to frame advance (3-4 frames accuracy at best), plus you can't really buffer input easily. Is there a good way to frame buffer?

This is the method I used and it seemed to work well enough for me.
First I target with my shield up, so that Link does a little bouncing up and down animation. I turn on the sound and listen to the rhythm of his feet hitting the floor and keep that in my head. Then I start running with a bomb. With the rhythm in mind, I use the cutscene item about one beat after I hear the bomb explode. If Link does a throwing motion, you did it too early. If nothing happens or he uses the item instead, you're too late.

Also if you do the DHWW without using a fairy, you will not need to OI to use farores wind if it was already equipped to x or y. This requires you to get the frame where link falls through the grotto hole.

Heres the common method for doing that http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HMEKBoHtytM

I'm preparing to get the Ice Arrows and Light Arrows in my inventory as standalone items. So basically all I have to do is RBA Magic Beans on II as Child Link and RBA the Hookshot on II as Adult Link any time before getting the Light and Ice Arrows respectively? Those will create bottles in my inventory. When I obtain the Magical Arrows, those bottles in my inventory will be replaced by the Magical Arrows as standalone items.

From what I've read, the only way to get a bottle on B as Child Link is either NG+ or the Kiddy Capper's glitch?

So Fire Arrows are impossible to get as a standalone item, because it requires you to RBA Fire Arrows on II?

Title: Re: OoT3D: Questions & Answer

there is technically 1 other way to get bottle on B using NG+ FW. This method is kind of new so not sure about all of the specifics but I think you have to pay to fish at the pond then save twice and you should have like one frame or something where you can use FW to escape. After that idk what you need to do though :P

Argh, I wanna learn megaflipping, but I really can't manage it at all... How do you guys get it so consistently?

And while we're at it, I'm kinda confused about superslides. The "hold stick in ESS pos -> pull out bombs and wait for it to explode (or take damage in any other way) -> press L" method gives me wildly varying speeds for some reason. Some of them do look like something close to a HESS, others are not much faster than walking. Why is this happening? And also, is this the only method to SS in OOT3D, or are there other ones that give either a simple SS or a consistent HESS?

Title: Re: OoT3D: Questions & Answer
Post by: benstephens1000 on August 02, 2013, 12:10:09 AM
The best way to megaflip consistently is simply practice and learning the timing. Sometimes it helps if you are off centered with the bomb.

A FESS (Forward ESS) can vary in speed depending on many factors which I believe to be how quickly you L target after taking damage, the position of the camera, the angle of the ESS.

Other forms of superslides that work in this version are HESS and WESS which both operate the same way they do on console, however for WESS most walls will not give you sword recoil and thus it isn't often useful. HESS on the other hand is in my opinion harder than on console for whatever reason. The timing seems rather strict

I've heard that infinite Gold Skulltula glitch was patched in OoT3D.

Also, I was able to pull off Kiddy Capers without inventory overstuffing. All you have to do is die while your B Button is disabled.

Question #1: What happens when you get more than 24 items (20 in the inventory and one on X, Y, I and II)? Does that game break? What happens?

Question #2: Are Fire Arrows impossible to get as a standalone item? Because they require you to RBA with a standalone Fire Arrow on II to get a standalone Fire Arrow. Do you think there may be another method besides RBA?

Hey everyone,
I'd like a bit of help to perform the forest escape using TSC kind of consistently
I tried a few methods I found on youtube but I managed to do them only once in a while and with a lot of tries
Would you have a method to recommend ? and why ?

Is there something more I need to know to perform this trick like being very fast at a very precise moment otherwise it won't work ?
Should I mash the B button ? And then the A button ?
Or is it better to time them to be more consistent ?
And last (but not least) question: what would be the perfect angle to get past the guard ? Should I be perfectly aligned with him or a bit on his right or left ?

Thank you in advance for your help this is a very useful trick and I'd like to know all your little setups that allow you to perform it very consistently ,)

There is only one thing I've found you can do to actually make this more consistent, although I don't think you'll like it. The only think that helps is practice. Sometimes mashing works, sometimes it doesn't. There is a specific angle of course but the being able to turn exactly 90 degrees or whatever on the circle pad is really hard making trying to line it up near impossible. Your best bet is tons of practice yo give you a good feel of the angle you want.

Post by: ZeldaFan on August 13, 2013, 05:43:42 PM
How do I get the Giant's Wallet (500 Rupees) on Slot 4 in the Gear section? I've already done inventory overstuffing by obtaining all 22 normal items in the game and getting the Ice and Light Arrows as standalone items, removed my strength upgrades by RBA'ing -No Mask- on II, and acquiring the Purple Gauntlets by RBA'ing Pocket Egg on II using a bottled fish.

Regardless of whether you use bugs or a fish, you can still carry up to 200 Rupees in both cases. The Adult's Wallet (used a fish) or Deku Nuts (used bugs) replaces your Slot 4, which results in allowing you to only dive 1 meter, and the Silver Scale replaces the strength upgrades in Slot 3, giving you the Purple Gauntlets.

Collecting the Giant's Wallet after RBA'ing the Pocket Cucco on II upgrades your Rupee capacity to 500 Rupees, but does NOT change the Adult's Wallet icon in the Gear menu.

Firstly, remember that you can practice using the A button instead of Navi. I assume you know that already. =P

As for the angle: standing to the left of the stone with the warp, and facing away from the water (ready to TSC), the more you face to the left the better, but you must still hit your sword on the stone block to prevent Link from going forward at each slash and to get TSC to actually teleport you backwards.
You should also stand as close to the water as possible without falling in when you slash. This can be annoying to get right, as standing too close will make you falll down into the water when you slash and then you have to get back up and reposition yourself.

Also, when actually escaping the forest, I always do a couple of practice A button TSCs to get the feel of the correct position before doing it with Navi. Obviously this isn't suitable for a run but it's great if you're practicing or just having fun with glitches.

As for mashing or not, the timing is pretty lenient, since all you need to do is slash 3 times in a row, then sheath your sword. Mashing usually works for me if I can't be bothered to time it, but both methods shouldn't be too hard.

Hope this helps. And as Ben said, practice a lot.

How do I get the Giant's Wallet (500 Rupees) on Slot 4 in the Gear section?

Pretty sure you can't. I've never played oot3d, but knowing what I know about RBA from the original oot, what shows up in your left-side equipment has nothing to do with the actual effects. And having a wallet in one of those slots doesn't affect your actual wallet in any way, or vice versa. It's purely graphical.

Fish =  0001 1001
Bugs = 0001 1101
Both of these include the 4th bit from the left, which corresponds to Adult's Wallet.

In conclusion, the wallet that shows up in slot 4 has nothing to do with the wallet you actually have. There is no way to get the giant's wallet to appear in this slot.

Yes, those are the only things you can RBA with. Half milk RBA on the N64 version is when you do Empty Bottle RBA and the value you are overwriting was previously exactly 26. So, IF IT STILL WORKS IN OOT3D, and you do empty bottle RBA with Ruto's Letter on II, and you had 30 deku nuts, it will overwrite your deku nut amount from 30 to 20. But if you do empty bottle RBA with Ruto's Letter on II, and you had exactly 26 deku nuts, it will overwrite your deku nut amount from 26 to 31, and it will put halfmilk on B.

It's worth noting that halfmilk has the most bits set compared to any other RBA modifier:

empty = 0001 0100
fairy = 0001 1000
fish = 0001 1001
blue fire = 0001 1100
bugs = 0001 1101
halfmilk = 0001 1111

It's also the only modifier that has the second bit from the right set, so it seems to be the most useful modifier (even more than bugs). Unfortunately, since it requires the value to have previously been 26...

milk = 0001 1010

...you have to already have the second bit from the right set to do halkmilk RBA, so it really isn't any more useful than bugs in any case (except maybe in the case of ammo, but only barely).

Post by: ZeldaFan on August 15, 2013, 03:56:38 PM

It's worth noting that halfmilk has the most bits set compared to any other RBA modifier:

empty = 0001 0100
fairy = 0001 1000
fish = 0001 1001
blue fire = 0001 1100
bugs = 0001 1101
halfmilk = 0001 1111

It's also the only modifier that has the second bit from the right set, so it seems to be the most useful modifier (even more than bugs). Unfortunately, since it requires the value to have previously been 26...

milk = 0001 1010

...you have to already have the second bit from the right set to do halkmilk RBA, so it really isn't any more useful than bugs in any case (except maybe in the case of ammo, but only barely).

I have no clue if this still works in oot3d
Yeah, but how do I drink down to Half Milk on B while having the Pocket Egg on II at the same time?

- Having Half-Milk on B and then putting the Pocket Egg on II doesn't do anything.
- Drinking Half-Milk on B with the Pocket Egg on II RBAs as an Empty Bottle on B.
- Drinking Full Milk on B with the Pocket Egg on II RBAs as an Empty Bottle on B.

I have to be able to change the contents on B to Half Milk while having the Pocket Egg on II at the same time to RBA what I want.

The only method I can think of is to RBA Green Potion on II by catching Bugs on B to overwrite the Adult Trade Items slot to Bottled Bug. Then reduce my Arrow Amount to 26 (because Bottled Bugs correspond to Arrow Amount) while having the Adult Trade Bottled Bugs on II, and get the Pocket Egg from the Cucco Lady in Kakariko Village. Drink the Full Milk and pray it turns to Half-Milk instead of an Empty Bottle?

Do I have to use Ruto's Letter on II with 26/31 Deku Nuts to RBA with Half-Milk? Or can I use Blue Fire on II with 26/31 Bombs, Poe on II with 26/31 Deku Seeds or Bottled Bug on II with 26/31 Arrows?

halfmilk RBA would not be possible with pocket egg because in order to have a value of 26 in that byte you would need:

-nothing in bullet bag slot
-adult's wallet but not giant's wallet
-giant's wallet in dive meter slot (which, as establish before, isn't possible)

and then drop bugs from B with pocket egg on II. You do not need to drink down full milk on B to do halfmilk RBA. You just need to empty your B bottle when the corresponding value is 26.

I'm still pretty sure this doesn't work in oot3d since it isn't mentioned on the RBA page.

You would need 0001 1010 in the byte corresponding to the pocket egg. Look at the "Pocket Egg on the II Button" chart here: zeldaspeedruns.com/oot3d/ba/reverse-bottle-adventure

I see. I can remove my Bullet Seed Bag and replace my Dive Meter with the Adult's Wallet with Fish on B, but the Giant's Wallet requires RBAing with Ruto's Letter on B.

So why is RBA limited to Empty Bottle, Bugs, Fish, Fairy and Blue Fire? What prevents us from RBAing with other bottled stuff, or other items completely.

I'm trying to get the Fishing Rod in my Gear Section. I don't really care what slot it is on, but Slot 4 is preferred. Apparently the Fishing Rod can only be put on Slot 4, and that requires RBAing the Pocket Egg with Half Milk on B. I'm guessing the game doesn't recognize the B Bottle as a legit bottle because it doesn't have the data of Bottles #1-4? Items duped into bottles aren't recognized by the game either. Would turning the bottle on B into a legit Bottle work?

Is there any other way to RBA PE on II with HM on B?

RBA with an item replaces the item on C-right/II with an empty bottle. RBA with other bottled stuff isnt limited to that, its just rarely needed.

Those are the only RBA modifiers because they are the only things that are updated by button. Potions, poes, etc. are updated by your inventory slot directly, and the game doesn't recognize B-bottle as a real bottle. You can get halfmilk on B with BA, but it doesn't activate RBA if you do it that way. To activate RBA, you must catch/drop/sell a bottle item from your bottle button directly. There is no way to "catch" a potion or poe or letter. On the N64 version, even if you get fullmilk on B, it will not turn into halkmilk after you drink it unless the game "recognizes" it as full milk (meaning the corresponding inventory slot is a value of 26). The corresponding inventory slot for the B button is based on what you have on C-Right, or in this case, II. Fullmilk/halfmilk may work differently on 3DS version. I'm not sure.

It is not possible to get a fishing rod in your inventory, in any slot, as far as I know, because halfmilk RBA is not possible with this case.

Title: Help with HESS
Post by: ZeldaFan on August 18, 2013, 10:29:12 PM
I am trying to learn the Hyper Endless Superslide (HESS), but I am having trouble. I've already learned how to do a Megaflip with and without Nayru's Love, and the Forward Endless Superslide (FESS), but I just cannot get a HESS going. I am using the method shown in flameringer's video:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qc-dSaA_R4M

What I do:

1. Pull out a bomb
2. Turn 90 degrees and L/Z Target
3. Immediately Shield Drop the bomb and sidehop/strafe away from the bomb.
4. Hold the circle pad in an ESS position (slightly down-left or down-right)
5. Side roll into the explosion with my shield up while still L/Z Targeting.

My Link will slide back a few feet and then stop.

What am I doing wrong? Are there any other methods to HESS?

If he stops I'm guessing it means you dropped ESS. You have to keep holding ESS position the whole time.

You have to shield at the same time you press L. The HESS works by you shielding damage at the same time you would normally get a FESS
You say you get going forwards, that means you did everything right but you didnt shield the damage at the right time.

You can also get a HESS by megaflipping into water to keep momentum.

I'm shielding the damage at the same time I press L while maintaining holding the circle pad slightly down-left/down-right. The most I've gotten was sliding a few feet back and Link's feet stuttering like crazy. I'm also getting a long trail of blue non-damage. If I do not shield or L Target as I side roll into the explosion with ESS position, I always get a FESS.

You don't have to hit L and R at the same time. It's actually a little better to hold L slightly before R so that you do not shield before targetting. If you go forward, you shielded late I'm pretty sure, although I think it could also be because of rolling at the wrong time but I'm really not sure.

Any% ng+ is around 5 minutes faster, and normal any% is around 3-4 faster, and there's already a MST route made (though it's probably outdated by now)

I guess I should specify more, I'm gonna do a child Ganon% using MQ routing cause it's faster to get bombs and bomb the dodongo skull eyes. And because Gononless, in my opinion, is lamesauce. So would that have it's own catagorey? Or would it just count as any%?

The way blue warp wrong warps work in this game is a little weird. I'm no expert but I believe that I've heard that this game lacks a certain byte that the consooe version has in it's code. This makes it so that blue warps are only capable of wrong warping directly into some sort of cutscene. Because there is no cutscene for any parcular point that could take you to the forest temple, there is no way to wrong warp to the forest temple with blue warps because any of the points that would work on console will crash the game on the 3DS I believe

No.

Any time you wrong warp from a blue warp, you set the game up to play a type of cutscene stored within scene files.
Scene files have an optional header command that defines alternate scene setups and possibly cutscene setups. Cutscene setups directly reference the type of cutscene stored within the scene files, and when a cutscene setup is loaded it updates what is known as the cutscene pointer to point to the cutscene before it is played.
Scenes like Forest Temple and Tower Collapse Interior lack this command in their file header and in turn lack a cutscene setup which can update the cutscene pointer. Thus when you wrong warp into these scenes, the result is dependent on the cutscene pointer's previous value.

We don't know exactly what is happening in OoT3d without an emulator, but it's likely the code was changed so that the cutscene pointer is zeroed when a cutscene is finished to prevent playing a cutscene without first pointing to one.

First of all the old bottle method of Ocarina Items was patched, old method of ISG was patched (can still get damage ISG, but it's precise as fuck) I haven't been able to door clip either. And finally the biggest problem is that the Blue Warp doesn't unload when you look away from it. Also when you exit the door if you quickly backwalk to it before the warp takes you away, the game crashes. I have no clue what happens with different timings, because testing it takes forever.

There is a significant difference isn't even glitch related. The format for cutscenes is modified such that it begins with what appears to be the string " BDQ". It's possible that the game checks this data to verify that it's playing a cutscene, which if true would essentially mean that it's impossible to perform the Ganondoor wrong warp since it relies on playing a "garbage" cutscene.

Are you consistent with RI? You can try the home buffer method, look for the frame where the top screen is dark, but the bottom screen is bright. There's also the idling method, which imo doesn't really work. What do you mean you can't get the warp to work? Does the game crash when you warp? If so, it means you have watched the cutscene where you get the Goron Ruby, it's necessary to have it there for the warp to work.

I'm trying to reach Zelda's Courtyard in OoT3D after seeing the Zelda escape cutscene play. The Zelda escape custscene has already played for me, so as a result there are two guards that prevent you from getting to Zelda's Courtyard after that scene flag has played. I've been researching the Wrong Warp table (http://www.zeldaspeedruns.com/oot/wrongwarp/wrong-warp-table) for any starting points that would WW me to the Castle Courtyard (from Zelda's Courtyard) or directly to Zelda's Courtyard.

Setting Farore's Wind inside the Goron Shop from Goron City causes the game to crash when I use FW after doing Death Hole Wrong Warp. Setting FW in Hyrule Field from the Eastern Lon Lon Ranch jump escape sends me to the Castle Courtyard (from Zelda's Courtyard), however the entire screen is black and Link will just fall down an infinite number of times.

Any suggestions on which DHWW or possible Blue Warp I can use to reach Zelda's Courtyard?

The easiest way is to have bottle on B as adult and have exactly 13 arrows. Go back in time and have bugs on child link's II button. Then go forward again

Whats happening here is its checking the II button for what to put on B, and bugs points to arrow count, which is 13 and 13=farores wind.

Got a question about ledge clipping (specifically in the Fire Temple). I understand that it's something to do with a small roll after a side hop, but I find myself mashing the L button after rolling. Is it just the timing of targeting after the roll, or is there something I'm missing? Most attempts result in a regular ledge grab.

Cheers

One thing is, this is not something you do while rolling, just by walking a grabbing a ledge that's next to a wall let's you perform Ledge Clip, the other thing is that is a 1 frame trick, so it's something that you have to practice a lot and you'll be making a ledge clip without needing to mash L at all, just pressing it one time. :P (y)

Title: Re: OoT3D: Questions & Answer
Post by: benstephens1000 on July 04, 2015, 12:02:22 AM
Yeah the side roll isn't required. The trick works by targeting a wall on the same frame that you grab a ledge. I actually haven't been doing the roll in fire temple much because I'm finding I'm better at just walking towards the edge. This trick becomes very easy when you learn the timing instead of mashing. If you just get a regular grab, you targeted too early.

I remember really old runs of OoT from 2007 that backwalked across the left side of the river of sand. Is this possible in OoT3D? Here's the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ipFwpTMgLck.
EDIT: better link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fn_C8BoZi8c
Hope it works :P

Doesn't work unless it's far more precise. It definitely should be messed with more.

I've been trying to perform the Death Hole Wrong Warp DoT skip, but it's not letting me use Farore's Wind once I do the wrong warp, and trying to leave the area it warped me to crashes the game. Is there something I'm missing to be able to use Farore's Wind?

Leaving the area should crash because it's a bad scene setup or something, idk I'm bad at that stuff.

What I can tell you is that you need to die while falling through the hole. If you die on top of the whole, and then quit, you'll need to perform OI before you can use items with magic. I recommend using the jumps lash method to perform death hole as it garuntees that you fall through without dYing on top of the whole every time.

For MST, on the route on the ZSR site, after WW from deku tree to Silver Gauntlet cutscene...it says "back walk with hover boots to mirror shield" I basically have no idea what to do, and I can't find a video..

if you jump to about 1:32:40 in this video you can see benstephens doing the trick (with rolls instead of backwalking). Basically you just want to get onto the lap of the colossus and you should be able to run up that side and jump to the mirror shield. the jump can be a little tricky, and you need to take hoverboots off before you do it. If you fail and fall all the way off the statue you can use farores wind to get back up and try again.

I am still having some problems with this. I take the hover boots off before I jump? When I do that I just slide off. I am guessing it has to do with speed?

So what's happening for me is I am running up to the ledge and ill kinda jump but because I still have the boots on I just hover next to the ledge then fall.

This is because you can't have the hoverboots on (technically u you can but it requires this dumb jumpslash. Therefore, either take them off before you land on the seam and don't roll until you're trying to get on the arm or on the final roll to the arm to a quick unequip  (hit hover boots on the frame frame you hit A to rill)
