Title: LTTP site is open for pages!
Post by: mzxrules on June 06, 2011, 07:23:22 PM
First dibs (http://zeldaspeedruns.com/alttp/msb/early-dark-world)

I'd add a ton of pages, but i really have like... no clue about legit LTTP.

When is there gonna be a link to this on the site's front page like there are for the other games?

Can we seriously get more info on this? I know a few of the tricks. In fact I probably know quite a few. But it'd be nice to have the ALTTP page in the first page, and detailed like the rest.

I don't have the permissions or the skills necessary to redesign the site's front page, that's something that Cosmo would have to address. I'll try and talk to him about it, since Skyward Sword is coming out in a month and that needs to be linked to the front page.

In the meantime, if you really want to contribute, you can either start writing pages in Markdown (http://daringfireball.net/projects/markdown/syntax) with an editor (http://joncom.be/experiments/markdown-editor/edit/) like this or plain text (though markdown is really not that complex) and send it to me, or request editor status.

Since I have experience in HTML I'll just write the HTML if that isn't too big of an issue?

Regular HTML will work if you really must, but Markdown is preferred when possible since it allows others who may not know HTML to make changes later. The link the mzxrules posted details everything about Markdown (it's really simple and it just converts to HTML in the end anyway).

You don't use php? If yes just use echo for body/footer and menu, so you don't need HTML...

The only part of this site that uses PHP are the forums. The rest of the site does not use PHP at all.

If you're making pages, write HTML or Markdown.

I don't have the time to learn another language D: (despite it being easy or not) I practice ALTTP and I try to race as frequently as I can (not for points but practice)

If I have made typos or forgot to end tags I apologize.

Then I guess I'll just give you the basics

Header tags = #

#Header = <h1>header</h1>
##Header = <h2>header</h2>

this is a paragraph,
it can extend to
multiple lines = <p>this is a paragraph, it can extend to multiple lines</p>

Ordered lists are simply just...

1. Item
2. Item
3. Item

Unordered lists are

* detail
- detail

So I'd like to fill in as many of the pages for LttP as possible. I feel the game doesn't get nearly as much love as it should.

If I want to submit pages, do I just fill out the HTML/Markdown and post it here?

Also do admins prefer HTML or Markdown, or does it matter at all?

Markdown is preferred since it can be hard to read with the html.

Let me know if this syntax/format is correct, as well as if this is enough information. Starting out with a quick and easy glitch to make sure I'm doing everything right. If it's all good I'll upload more pages soon.

Should be under LttP > Misc or LttP > Tricks / Glitches

Or if you have a better section that's cool too.

http://zeldaspeedruns.com/alttp/misc/fake-flippers

Page titles are added to a separate text box which is generated into a page title/page header. Other than that is good.

Placement and info in the top of the file. May wanna check for spelling errors just in case.

I ran through a few times and there's really nothing to say about Hyrule Castle or Desert Palace, so I'm not sure if you want to take those pages down or just leave the stubs there. I think the stubs make it look kind of unfinished (which it is) but I'm just a user and either way works. Also boss quick kill edits to this page incoming once I understand it a little better.

Gonna do the dungeons up to the Dark World then drop a page about damage values. If anyone has any comments, suggestions, or requests lemme know.

Couple of short pages while I work on Tower of Hera. Placement in file heading again. Quick read-through for English errors is always good.

Just thought of a short thing to put in Desert Palace to make it less of a blank page, but there really isn't much more to say about it other than the boss fight, which I'll likely upload a video for once I get my capture card in.

Set of pages coming in a bit. Wanna post them all at once to save time, just posting now to say I'm not done uploading.

Short page about the only real trick in PoD.

NOTE this is a direct link to Krystal's notesmash page. I sent her messages on a few different places to ask for permission but she's a difficult person to get ahold of, so if we're not okay with linking other people's content without permission feel free to disregard this page. Krystal is credited twice on this page, once below the image and once in the image hovertext. I didn't see much point in writing a new guide when hers is already as detailed as anyone could ever hope to have.
