Title: Question about Dolphin
Post by: jdlinkmaster on July 08, 2015, 05:49:03 PM
Is there a way to get dolphin to emulate the loading times of a gamecube? It's simply too fast. I can't progress in my wind waker practice because I can't do greatfish early. Any help is great, thanks

Newer Dolphin versions come closer to emulating disc speed, so you should get the newest version if you don't already have it (http://dl.dolphin-emu.org/builds/dolphin-master-4.0-6980-x64.7z)

Try using one of the newest versions of dolphin. They tend to have more accurate loading times.
Dolphin is never perfect however, and playing on console is the only way to get the most realistic practice.

There are ways to practice on Wii that help speed up practice.

For my practice, I use GCMM (Gamecube memory manager). I can use this app to load any save files from my huge library of .gci files onto my memory card.

Using cheat codes is incredibly useful on Wii as well. Setting health to quarter heart, moon jump, superswim speed, void out anywhere, chest storage/door cancel anywhere, and map select make practice infinitely better.

Thanks zfg, works great now

If you want to stick with emulator and are having trouble with the superswim, I suggest using the super speed cheat to get to Greatfish and just continue your practicing from there. Then you can practice Greatfish on console later.

Here's the code that binds super speed to R (JP only):
Code:
4A3E0D2A 00000020
0439830C 40000000
04398310 41000000
