Title: A Link to the Past - Glitched [segmented] ?
Post by: TSDA on December 29, 2009, 02:47:52 AM
I was thinking about this today and would it be allowed here?
Something like this:
Segment 1: All the way to zelda and do the glitch when you jump, then save & quit.
Segment 2: Get hit by the enemy and get to Ganon.

I don't know if this should be allowed because IIRC, if you fail segment 2, you have to do the glitch all over again. Though we can just do that by playing normally to segment 2 and then start speedrunning there...

It'd be allowed I think. I think it may also be allowed at SDA, but don't quote me on that.

too late I already used quote tags

IIRC, it's not allowed at SDA. They won't allow glitches that break the game to that extent. We're lucky enough for them to accept all the RBA shenanigans we do with OoT

And now I'm quoting ringrush being quoted.

SDA accepts that now.  Well, they'd accept an LA screenwarping run anyway.

Does anybody know if the timing stops when you enter the Triforce door?

why segmented? does it save time?

iirc the glitch requires a save+quit unless you can do up/down (you can't without opening/modding your snes controller)

it might work on VC though

I already did that run, the guy who's supposed to torrent it is too lazy these days though, so it's stuck there.

My run consists of:

segment 1: get zelda (no boomerang!) then save quit.
segment 2: get hit, glitch triggers, end of game.

I discovered that when you trigger the glitch, the whole game becomes glitched and I can choose any file and it will trigger. So actually, I can trigger this glitch and start a new game and get glitched right off the bat when I step out of bed, you can try it yourself. But this way you can't finish the game, because the underground map is divided in 2 and link's house is not located in the map that you can finish the game =|.

So, between segment 1 and 2, I just trigger the glitch on another file then I come back to the run file. I asked Mike from SDA, he's okay with it. It is from my knowledge the only run that includes some gameplay out of the actual run file, which is not considered part of the run either the final time =).

EDIT: oh yeah, I timed it at around 3min37.

What would be the time to aim for?

Tompa watched it and said that all the small mistakes in the run does not even rack up to a full second, so you can guess.
