Title: Getting Japanese Version on VC Tutorial?
Post by: Dufuss on May 11, 2013, 04:51:13 PM
I'm tired of using an emulator and would like to start using VC, but getting the Japanese version is proving to be extremely difficult.

So far, I've soft modded my wii and got the Homebrew Channel.  I then downloaded the Homebrew Browser Channel.  From there, I got the Wii 64 emulator, but it has quite a few odd problems.  I'm unsure if I am just supposed to change the settings or if people don't actually use this.

I used the forum search function to see if people have already explained how to get the J version on VC, but I couldn't find anything.

Any help is appreciated.  Even just telling me what I should look for would be helpful because I could probably find it and figure it out myself.

EDIT: after many hours, I have finally learned how to install WADs.  I just need to learn how to make the Japanese version playable.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

1) Soft-mod your Wii and/or install Homebrew channel

2) Download and install Multi-Mod Manager 13.4

http://www.wii-homebrew.com/download/nintendo-wii-downloads/firmware-und-hacks/modifikationen/multi-mod-manager/summary

3) Download the Japanese OoT WAD (which is a Wii Channel encapsulated into a single file) and put it on your SD card

4) Use Multi-Mod Manager to install the WAD file that you put on your SD card

5) Download and install Priiloader

http://wiibrew.org/wiki/Preloader/Priiloader

6) Use Priiloader to enable the "Region Free Channels" setting

7) All done - go play Japanese OoT

Source - I just did it today.

Ah! Thanks!  I was finally able to get the WADs and stuff, but I couldn't play the Japanese version.  I ended up getting a region changer, but if I can use priiloader to be able to play the JP version without changing my Wii's region every time, that would be awesome!  I'll probably try it out soon.  Thanks a lot :D

Hello,

Resurecting this old thread since I'm having big problems to play JP OOT VC on my Wii.

When I lauchned launch d2x-cios in my homebrew :

Here the first question. What's exaclty is this ? Multiple parameters to setup and no informations on it at all.
Select cIOS : are avaible <d2x v4>   <d2x v5>   <d2x v6>   <d2x-v8-final>
Select cIOS base: with <d2x v4> base available are 37 38 53 55 56 57 & 58
.........................with <d2x v5> base available are the same
.........................with <d2x v5> base available are the same
.........................with <d2x-v8-final> base available are the same plus 60 70 80
Select cIOS slot: Slot are going from 200 to 255
Select CIOS revision: 21 65535 or 210004/5/6/or 8 in function of the cIOS

Apparently I found that the base and slot are 58 and 249. Don't know whats to use for cIOS and cIOS revision.

I manage to instal the game throught Multi Mod Manager, activate the Free Region Channel on Priiloader but everytime I lauch the channel I get this screen:

The only thing I can do is press A and my Wii reset.

Thanks for your help.

It says
You will need the Classic Controller.

Connect Classic Controller
to the P1 Wii Remote
or press the A button
to return to the Wii Menu.

You can also plug in a gamecube controller and use that.

yes first you must install priloader and install the hacks on bootmii then turn on region free games
after your done their playable here is some wads to if you like v

now i have found the japanese version of oot v1.2 here is the link
http://www.mediafire.com/download/wle7ia714kx74fn/Zelda+no+Densetsu+-+Toki+no+Okarina+%28JP%29.wad

http://www.mediafire.com/download/9i16q70dnkx0qk3/Zelda+no+Densetsu+-+Mujura+no+Kamen+%28JP%29.wad

if you want the wii mod to install the wads they can be found here
http://www.mediafire.com/download/32ums1q6budum6d/wadmanager17.rar (requires an extracter)

to change the (free) the wads to make it 100% work use freethewads program V
http://endlessparadigm.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=11457

now of course if you are using a us wii you most region change your wii
or you can enable the hack on priloader enable region free games for gc wii (even more)

:) if you need anymore help reply to me remember if you dont own the game this can be illegal
of course after doing this do not risk updating your wii just to be clear i own these games wads are meant to be used as backup incase it breaks
